Last year's Need for Speed: SHIFT was a great racing game that put intensity on a pedestal; that cockpit view was both realistic and exhilarating. And here's some good news if you enjoyed the experience: EA has let it slip that a sequel is in the works, and now, Need for Speed: SHIFT 2 is set for a fourth-quarter release in 2011 . As of now, we have little to nothing in the way of details, but it's probably the second NFS game EA cited in February; the first was Criterion's upcoming Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit , which is slated for this November. So what are you hoping for in SHIFT 2 ? Granted, there is room for improvement but let's not forget that in terms of in-car realism, Gran Turismo 5 should once again set the bar. So EA will definitely have their work cut out for them, despite the legions of hardcore NFS followers. We know you're out there.
We'll let you know when EA decides to tell us more about the anticipated sequel. Hopefully, we won't have to wait too long.
I will definitely purchase this sequel. The first was so much fun.
hopefully ill buy it but i dont know. I swear simulation racing games literally put me to sleep lol. Hopefully GT5 fixes that
Never played the first one. Heard there was some nasty rubber banding in it. That's the kind of thing that turns me away. I'm already crap at these racers, why would I want a racer with cheating AI for the one rare moment when I am actually ahead of the pack?
Once the game was patched, Shift ended up being a rather enjoyable experience.
I had the drive to finish it 100% and purchase the DLC if that tells you anything..
I didnt notice any rubber-banding, i almost always won with no effort. I enjoyed it very much and i'll be getting Shift 2.
Motorstorm:PR has terrible AI though…

That's the best news I've heard in a long time! I absolutely loved Need For Speed Shift; spent around 200 hours with it; it was the first game I ever platinumed. I was pretty bummed when they announced the next NFS game wouldn't be racing, but that cops 'n' robbers stuff. But now I can be happy again 🙂
I just hope they fix all the technical bugs that plagued the first game. Other than that, more cars, more tacks, and that's about all I want.
I haven't picked up Shift and I don't plan on it. I use too love the NFS when there were street racing and customization like crazy. I havent played a NFS since UG2 and I hope NFS is working on another installment of underground or something a lot like it.
But if shift 2 ends up being really good I might pick it up(I highly doubt it) That's if I am not to busy playing GT5, MotorStorm apocalypse amd Dirt 3.
I hated this game, screw you, if i wanted to race professionally i would get Grand Tourism. If i wanna street race i get need for speed underground or most wanted or maybe hot pursuit but that looks like it's gonna be a burnout paradise type interface.

i hope EA are not giving the NFS of old a hitch though, i really want a new NFS game open world style like the old NFS most wanted that was probably the BEST NFS GAME EVER RELEASED!
the cop chases were so much fun, the boss races were great and the marker additions added a tension to the win i loved it!
ive been screaming for a hot pursuit game since the 2nd one came out, now we have it EA please dont abandon the open world style of NFS!
o, and get criterion back on burnout i really miss paradise i was really hoping for a new burnout game this year but i guess hot pursuit will have to do!
