Top Gun will be available on the PlayStation Network on August 17; it's a "free-flying air combat shooter that expands the legend of Maverick, Iceman and the rest of the film's fliers." The developers have gone out of the way to make this an authentic, faithful incarnation of the beloved movie, as the film's screenwriter, Jack Epps, Jr., provided all-new dialogue and story for the game. And no, this certainly won't be a simulator; Top Gun will boast accessible, "pick-up-and-play combat," where you will take on the intimidating Soviet forces over the Indian Ocean. In addition to the robust single-player adventure, we'll also get the benefit of five separate multiplayer modes, where you can challenge friends and strangers to over-the-top dogfights. Do you have the skill and toughness to emerge victorious? Flight games aren't as popular as they once were, but the loyal fans remain and the PSN should be getting quite the worthwhile title. We'll make sure to deliver a review soon…maybe we'll go and watch the movie again first, though.
And by the way, if you have fun with this, you might be interested in H.A.W.X. 2 and then, you can join the many gamers who continually hope for a new Ace Combat on the PS3…

As for Tom Cruise, i reckon he gets alot of unfair critisism. I actually like him, He has been in many great films. Eyes Wide Shut, Collateral, Vanila Sky, Rain Man, Magnolia, Interview For A Vampire and so on. I could not care less about his private life but to deny him of being a good entertainer is ludacris.

This game not being a sim, does that mean it's arcade-like, similar to Afterburner Climax? I'm hoping something close to Ace Combat gets released before the ps4 comes along.

Then why are gamers still crying out for new iterations to Aero Dancing(Aero Elite), Blazing Angels, Ace Combat even Micrsoft Flight Simulator? Even on the GTplanet boards people want PD to do a flight/combat sim.
