Although it was initially scheduled to be part of Sony's impressive holiday lineup, SOCOM fans will now have to wait a bit longer.
We had heard a few days ago that SOCOM 4 might be pushed into 2011 but we didn't bother to toss up an article until we heard something official. Well, the update over at the SOCOM blog is pretty darn official. As you can see, Zipper Interactive Senior Community Manager Jeremy Dunham has confirmed that SOCOM 4 is now scheduled to launch in 2011. But hey, the team doesn't want to release a sub-par effort:
"While we're certainly aware that you've been looking forward to playing SOCOM 4 this year, we don't want to take any shortcuts. Instead, we want to deliver the best and most immersive SOCOM game we possibly can and we're going to use our extra time to do just that."
We're not about to condemn a development team for a perfectionist mentality; for delaying a game so they can get it just right. We do have a little something against continual delays, but this is only delay #1 for the fourth SOCOM , and we're hoping the next release date we receive will be the real deal. Also, remember that SOCOM 4 will support PlayStation Move, so it'll be one of the first shooters to utilize Sony's new motion sensing technology.
