With little knowledge of Final Fantasy Versus XIII , our most anticipated Square-Enix title remains Deus Ex: Human Revolution .
And if you've been an ardent follower of the series, you should know that Revolution is considered a reboot of the franchise. Gamasutra spoke to game director Jean-Francois Dugas at Eidos to learn more about the promising new title, and he says it really isn't an extension of the existing storyline. But at the same time, the team most certainly understands the series; they even went back to the earlier games to see what they did best. Said Dugas:
"When we started, basically we said, 'You know what? We need to go back to the first two games and play them extensively and try to really analyze and identify what the core values were, what made those games so special.' We did just that, and then after that, we started to work on our game.
One of the first mottos we had was to respect the core values of the story. For us, that was really, really important, so it drove forward all our design choices for Deus Ex: Human Revolution. Obviously, we see it as a reboot of the franchise, we see it kind of a new game, with a new character, a new story, and all that, set in the same universe with the timeline of Deus Ex."
Dugas also says they're coming back "with the choice and consequence" philosophy, which will lead to "different gameplay pillars that allow players to play with a different style." So in other words, just like in past entries, you can either be all sneaky and technical or you can just tear sh** up with enhanced strength and weaponry. Well, sounds a lot like Deus Ex to us. And check out the rest of the interview; this is one game that could end up being something really special.

I need this game. I need it or I will explode. That happens to me sometimes.
How do you piece yourself back together?
lolz that happens
Similar to the werewolf in The Monster Squad.
Best movie of all time.
Is it or is it not?!?!?
Cool can't wait for this game i been reading up on this game in the P.T.O.M and Gameinformer magazines. This is my 3rd most antisapated (sorry bad spelling) if it comes out this year. behind Gran Turismo 5. Little Big Planet 2 if it comes out this year.
'currently playing'
Ps3: Ratchet and Clank: A Crank in Time, Dragon Age Orgins
360: Mass Effect 2
PsP: nothing right now
can you all gusse the theme i am going for ?
I will most certainly be getting this game. Definitely looking forward to it. Good to hear their concentrated on the story
I really hope this turns out as well as they are making it sound. I never played a deus ex game before but I have a lot of high hopes for this one.
I just hope squeenix doesn't crush them like they have with most of their other games recently.
"Damnit Eidos! Change your game into crap RIGHT this minute or you won't get an all new audience for it!"
I like how the Eidos guys took the time and played the old games so that they could make and put in what was good from those ones into the new game. Its a shame that the company that bought Eidos couldn't do the same with their most anticipated title this gen.
It's all a wait and see.
The new american Silent Hill teams had the talk…..but, look how they turned out.
Wait, Eidos knows how to keep core values but Square Enix doesn't? Holy sad.
Core Values in FF ftw!
I love the D.E. series(including "Snowblind")
So I'm all over this one too!!!
I loved the first one, and to tell you the truth the one little thing that I hope they bring back is the weapon upgrade system. It wasn't anything special, just basically if you found something like a laser you could put it on your gun. Only thing is that peices were very hard to find. I liked this alot better than the new experience or money based weapon upgrade systems in most games nowadays because when you found something it felt really gratifying instead of just "oh i found some more in game credits"

Hmm, been hearing about tons of games doing reboots this gen, maybe that's a good thing that they're all getting back to their roots…if only squeenix would do the same..
this is by far my most anticipated game for next year!
screw KZ3, screw infamous 2, screw RAGE, screw Agent, screw LA Noire, screw the last guardian, THIS is going to be THE title next year!
Im putting my money on "Agent" to be "game of the year" to be fair. Them R* boys know whats what!! Also thinking that The last guardian may be pretty sweet. Thats not to say im not looking forward to Deus-ex. Its been a long time since i played that on my laptop!!!

Double post!! Amateur at best!
Sorry guys. Work pc is cr*p. My bad.
as do i, but i seriously cant see Agent releasing next year!
we have not seen any info on it yet, not to mention the devs who are making it normally spend 3 to 4 years making a game.
they just finished doing the GTAIV DLC early last year so Agent i would say is 1.5 years into development at the most.
so dec next year would make it 3 years, but no one releases a game in dec.
id say early 2013 but i seriously doubt any earlier than that!
Brilliant, especially as i've no idea what the first two games were. can't wait for this one
I was EXTREMELY excited about this game, but I didn't realize Square Enix was the publisher. Now I'll definitely be reading the reviews before I think of buying it. And parsing every word.
Zorigo,
Just do a doogle search for…
(In order)
1. Deus Ex: The Conspiracy(PS2)
2. Deus Ex: Invisible Wars(Xbox)
2.5 Snowblind(Xbox)
(This last one above was originally supposed to be #3 in the DE series but they decided to make it as it's own game with multi-player. But Snowblind is different in the name only, and it still uses all of the very same elements as all the other DE games do)
I'm really looking forward to this game. I really hope EM delivers an awesome Deus EX experience like we had with the first game.
