Black for the PS2 was the brainchild of one Stuart Black, who recently teamed up with Codemasters to create a spiritual sequel of sorts in Bodycount .
But Black won't be sticking around for the final retail unveiling. As reported by GamerZines , Black will be leaving Codemasters in October, well before his new game is scheduled to hit store shelves in 2011. Evidently, he's just done with the job: "Having created a great vision and direction for Bodycount , Stuart has decided to move on after three years with us," said a Codemasters representative. The rep goes on to say Black will stay on "through the transition period" but the rumor is that he's leaving due to some sort of internal strife. Bodycount 's creative director, Black and been pretty vocal during the course of the game's development, once telling OXM that most FPSs were "f***ing boring." He also made headlines by revealing that Lady Gaga and JJ Abrams acted as influences on the game in question…although we're not entirely sure how such people influenced the development.
Well, anyway, Bodycount will release for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 early next year. We're not exactly overwhelmed by the media we've seen thus far but to be fair, that was early footage. …even so, we admit to being much more intrigued by People Can Fly's Bulletstorm .
P.S. Black is taking some flak for this, as you can see here . Pretty rough.

Has CodeMaster's put out any good games this generation? the only game i know of is Operation Flash Point and that bombed hard.
DiRT.
you cant miss a great game like dirt
Ha, i missed it. I'll check it out. Thanks guys.
I thought Grid was pretty good too. Although no trophy support. (I'm pretty sure codemasters made it.)
The only Codemasters games I've enjoyed were Grid and Dirt 2. Never got the chance to play Dirt but I heard it was great.
Dirt is so Awesome, I can't wait for Dirt 3.
i honestly didnt like dirt 2. Dirt just was more fun the rally was more present there.
ok iv just seen the game's trailer and what i can be sure a bout that the graphics are awful ,
i cant see anything good about that game
Honestly, Codemasters hasn't put out any good FPS this gen. In fact they have put out some of the worst. Turning Point, Clive Barker's Jehrico (although I kind of liked that one). I don't know there's probablly another one as well.
i think they should stick to racing games, since i really enjoyed dirt 2 and grid.
Not a fan of the shooters they've made.
I agree the Dirt franchise it strong and a lot of people want a second Grid.
They need to work on the sequels for Grid and Dirt, I'll buy both for full price on the same day.
I'm sure somehow Kotick is involved.
He paid him to leave early and kill the game before he left.
Doubt this game will be drawing any attention, unless it's just really that bad.
He left to avoid the bad press this game is gonna get. He is right though, most FPS are fu*king boring.
You may be preaching to the choir, but I don't mind, sing it loud, sing it proud.
well yeah, its not like I said "all" just most.
mmmmm not looking good….i loved black on ps2 tho
If the visionary for the game can't stick around to finish it, he must not have thought much of it to begin with. Not willing to finish what ya started it can't be that important.
I think Bodycount and Bulletstorm should swap names.
Well since Stuart Black is leaving before his games is even finished makes me think that he's not happy with Codemasters, and that they were meddling with his game.
And unless he was canceling it, then why else would someone just walk away from their own vision before it's even done?
The way I see it, the body count for "Bodycount" is standing at 2 before it's even finished.
(FYI, The game's executive producer Tom Gillo, who also worked with Stuart Black on the game "Black", has already left, not citing any reason either).
extremely disappointed!
i had such high hopes for this since black seems to be the only guy who can make a proper shooter!
BLACK was such a amazing game for its time, even today its still the best shooter out there!
theres a reason why people were calling it gun porn!
hopefully this does not effect the game, and it rises to its potential and becomes a worthy successor to black.
we all want manhunt on the playstation move!!
there ive said it
Me too!
And don't go sissying it the f*ck up, like they did on MH2 when cave in to the self-righteous, safety-nanny, lil sniveling cry-babies.
This game really didnt impress me when i saw it at E3. Just another fast paced shoot em up game with orbs to collect wooptie freakin doo. Sounds like a FPS linear edition of crackdown in a way.
