They've worked and worked and worked and worked . It has taken a lot of time, a lot of effort, and a lot of money. But the final achievement should be so mind-boggling, the experience will be well worth the wait.
At least, Polyphony Digital boss and Gran Turismo creator Kazunori Yamauchi says so. In the most recent issue of the Official PlayStation Magazine, he somehow managed to push the already towering hype to new heights by saying GT5 is actually almost too advanced even for the PlayStation 3. There are two particular quotes that have started to raise eyebrows , and they are as follows:
"The level of precision we've achieved [in GT5] is actually more suited to the next generation of machines. The detail that goes into a premium model [has] gone beyond the level of the current PlayStation."
The article goes on to say that the game in question "accurately models mechanical and cosmetic damage to an absurd degree, and whilst the classic models will buckle and crumple, those newer models will near-disintegrate." We told you before that given the gargantuan anticipation and expectations for GT5, it absolutely needed to become the best simulator ever . …but the more we see and hear, the more we're convinced that's a foregone conclusion.

GT5 is two games in one.
If GT5 came out 2 years ago it would've had some 500 cars and 12-14 tracks.
Favorite racing series of all time.
It's this level of quality that's unmatched by any other racing game out there.
Blur, Need for Speed, Grid, pfffft none of that can compare.
I can't wait for this game to come out so I can show it to my local Foranza buff. I think he may die at the sight of its shear beauty. Why can't November come faster, maybe I should freeze myself till the time comes.
Don't do that, you might just end up in the near future and have a really hard time finding a PS3 and GT5 because it's waaay old then.
Also, you will have to lead a battle among atheists.
Did I say near? I meant far future of course.
All he meant to say was that his game is too bad a$$ for this generation but they still were able to pull it off, thanks to the PS3 being soooo powerful.
PlayStation3, it only does everything, including PS4 games! LOL
I remember the time before games were not hyped on a daily basis. 🙁
For F**k Sakes, Just release the damn game already and let it speak for itself like most know it will
Go sit on the toilet and release your frustration already.
I am sitting on the toilet right now!

who's frustrated? not me, just tired of hearing about it and wished it was out so we can play it already.
The game needs no hype like this, its GT5

I cannot wait for this game. I'm getting way too excited…
So, hypothetical here, but what happens if this game does not deliver on every single bit of hype that it is building?
Before I have the torches and pitchforks at my throat, listen carefully. I am not saying that it won't; I am not even saying I think it won't. What I am posing is a question to everyone here, and that is, what if it isn't everything they say it will be.
I only ask because I for one will be getting this on day one regardless of if I can really afford it or not. I would get a paycheck advance if needed to get this game the day it comes out. That said, I am expecting a huge showing from this title as I am sure most others are as well. But, what happens if it is not all it is said to be. I for one am going to be very upset if the car design doesn't fool my eyes into thinking I am looking at the actual machine. I am going to be unhappy if the interiors of the premium modelled cars don't have every stitch in the fabric, dimple in the leather, and moulding joint in the dashes.
This game is building up a ton of hype and I for one really think that after all this time it can deliver but what if it doesn't? How are you guys going to feel? Will you write it off and still be happy with what it does do? Will you be slightly upset with the fact that the hype outshined the finally offering?
Don't think you should worry about it, it should live up to epectations!

I'm trying to ignore the hype and just look forward to a great racing game that will keep me entertained for months. There are plenty of gameplay videos out there, and unless they're going to do a major graphics overhaul in the next 3 months, we've got a pretty good idea of what it will look like. I've set my expectations accordingly. My philosophy: A pessimist expects the worst, and so they're often pleasantly surprised. An optimist expects the best, so they're quite often disappointed. I try to be a realist.
I for one, respect any perfectionist. And I believe that whatever the game delivers, I'll buy it because it's done with hard work and perseverance.
And because Polyphony Digital made a wonderful series of games, I'm a constant fan of their work.
2010 GOTY!!! at least for me!!!
Mine, too. It will probably be top sold Sony exclusive…(but still eclipsed by Modern Whorefare).
Good to hear. For all the anti-press GT5 was getting back before they decided to include car damage I would've thought the current standard bearer for GT racing, Forza 3, would have better car damage. Instead, it appears to use lame canned crumple spots and textures for it's damage. While GT5 appears to be using a realtime physics simulation for damage. Props
Does that mean playing GT5 on your PS3 will make it overheat?
Only if you play it with your ps3 in the oven.
Gran Turismo is one of the few games I can buy without reading any reviews or renting it first and it ALWAYS delivers so even without the hype I was sold but now after all of this I'm going to get the special edition. This is the closest I'll ever get to owning one of these vehicles and I hope my favorite vehicle is in this version as well the mighty DODGE VIPER!
Wow, there is no way this game woun't get GOTY. I don't understand that you ppl don't understand what PD is saying. PD is saying that Gt5 is so beasty that it is good anough to be played on the next gen.
I'm picking up the Collecters edition!!!
Forza has nothing on GT never has, never will!
Truth.
They are working on inhansing the graphics and speeding up load times up to the release.
Come on, I been waiting a long timeeeee for this. Eversince 08.
Maybe he means that a single car model running in their programming suite or whatever takes up more than 50GB. A Dual-Layer blu-ray disc dedicated to a single car… now that would look all kinds of awesome. I know I'm talking out of my backside, but yeah. As for the person that said if a game doesn't need the hype, it's GT5, that may be so, but the hype builds anticipation and anticipation builds buys, regardless of the end product. Just look at GTA IV for proof of that.
Peace.
i sincerly doubt that, because dunno if this is true, certainly hope not! but……..
i remember reading that all the cars in GT5 except the pro ones are upscaled models of GT4.
if true, that is SO! disappointing! very last gen, let alone this gen, let alone next gen!!!!!!!
anyway, can we stop with all this hyping up please?
see, this is exactly why im always disappointed when a new game comes out.
the media hype it up and sometimes the developers or publishers hype a game up to be the second coming.
what is it with this industry now and hyping everything up as the reinvention of the wheel?
like capcom hyped up a new announcement and it turned out to be new info on MVC3.
they hyped it up to be a new big game, like DMC5 or something but turned out to be a preexisting game.

Do you own GT5P?
If so, take a look at the GT-R Proto.
Thats what we can expect.
If it is up to me, I'd spare GT5 for the next gen console; PS4. Because, I love the game too much and I want to see it more perfect than reality itself. But that's me.

This mthrfckr is looking awesomely sick, the level of detail makes it look unreal(and with that I mean real, as in hey, I saw that same car riding down my street, that is if that car wasn't a sports car, but like a fiat panda or sumthin')
Also, Curse ye trolls thumbing down the locals, get back to the bottom of ye bridges!
Darn it! Shame on me. I'm always late to a GT5 discussion here.
Some of you made very valid interpretations. One thing that we must know is that translation is always rough, and sometimes if we take each word literally from it, it doesn't make sense, just like this one.
We just gotta take the overall idea on it, which I can agree with some you. It's confusing, but I'm going with the idea that the details and work they put into the models are more suited for next gen, which is why it took so long. It's actually something that was quoted before (twitter interview). Not the exact same thing, but similar idea.

If all devs put time in games like PD does then they won't need to bring a game out every year. The GT games can keep you playing for years. unlike most other games. I know I'll be putting plenty of time in GT5 over the nexy 5 years while GT6 is in the works.
