Sony plans to get rolling on two new technologies this year: PlayStation Move and 3D gaming. But which is likely to see more early adopters?
Well, unsurprisingly, it seems that most PSXE readers will be more willing to get Move before they dive into 3D gaming. Obviously, there's a much bigger price hurdle for the latter; even if you need the Eye and plan to drop $100 on Move, it's a far cry from a new 3D-enabled HDTV with 3D glasses. Furthermore, there will be more Move products immediately available out of the gate; 3D will certainly require more time to catch on, and it'll help when more and more HDTVs start to feature 3D technology. We still say things like Killzone 3 and Gran Turismo 5 could be downright amazing in 3D but for now, we have to emphasize the "could" part…until we really embrace the concept and see it for ourselves, we'll just have to hope. Move, on the other hand, has been seen and sampled by many and thus far, it's gaining quite the solid reputation. We'll also be interested in seeing how Move advances over the years; in 2012, we could have some very cool motion-oriented products on shelves. The possibilities are almost limitless…
This week, with the summer drought staring us square in the face, we want to know how you'll be spending your catch-up time. What amazing gem of the first half of 2010 did you miss, but now fully intend to play? God of War III ? Bioshock 2 ? Red Dead Redemption ? Yeah, you can only pick one.
Right now I'm playing Fallout 3 and I'm also like 50 hours into Disgaea 3, altough I think I only scratched the surface. I'm on level 80-90 and the level cap is 9999?! That's totally insane. And after 50 hours I just have 15 percent of the trophies =(.
As for July, I'll get Starcraft 2 as soon as it releases. I've been really waiting for it, mostly because I started gaming on the PC, and Starcraft was one of the first games I played.

There appears to be no game on the list that I didn't miss, primarily because most of the games on the list save for 3, don't appeal to me ^.^ lol That's not saying they're bad games in my eyes, I just don't want to get them (and it's not because they're expensive).
I completed XIII (took me only 60 hours, from the 26th-52nd hour, was just pure grinding until my "feeling" settled in and told me to stop), Red Dead Redemption (somewhere between 25-35 hours, and that's cuz I did lots of extra stuff) and Heavy Rain XD (only once, until I decided to lend it to a friend, as I really wanted more friends to try out and play this game; he's really into it!!).
After that, I did another playthrough of Mass Effect 2 (this time, as a female lol; I made different choices, and no, they weren't on purpose either) and am currently (and almost done!) playing a 2nd playthrough of Dragon Age: Origins, as a female elf born in the Aliennage of Denerim (1st playthrough was human noble).
So, currently, RDR, DA:O, and a teeny dose of COD:WaW and MW2 here and there are what's occupying me ^.^

Just so you know the 3D glasses are only 150 at best buy right now.
Is that with or without the batteries?
With I believe. You can get the whole 3d package with a soundsystem, 50" samsung 2 pairs of glasses for 1800
Well, I haven't been able to get with Heavy rain yet, so the summer will be my chance to do so.
I do think Move is a solid product that has a decent future. I actually think that the Microsoft machine will manage to sell a good number of Kinect units. But, much like the Wii has faded because so many are sitting in a closet somewhere, I think that a *lot* of the Kinect units sold will end up gathering dust in a forgotten corner while Move controllers get used frequently enough to require replacement sue to wear and tear.
Highlander, it may be a bit too early too call that Kinect will not be used. From what I saw from the M$ press conference I have to admit, controlling the console with out a controller is pretty cool.
Maybe not so much playing the games, but just to use your hand to navigate the menu system, and your voice to launch a movie is very cool… M$ may have something there…
I think once Kinect is connected and being used, even if people simply use it to control the front end of their xBots, why not… if it works and it is convenient… beats having to fumble with a controller in the dark…

The thing is Qubex, I've played PS3 games – specifically SingStar, where you can use vocal commands instead of the controller, and I always go back to the controller as it is faster and easier. The voice command works well, it's just easier to navigate with a controller.
The point being, that Microsoft does not have a proprietary lock on voice command or gesture control, both technologies have existed since long before Kinect (or PSEye/Eyetoy). So if Sony wants to, or their gamers tell them to, they can implement it at a stroke with Move. I just think that having used voice command,. it's unnecessary.
K Highlander, you raised a good point there… Sony could simply add voice recognition if and when necessary. Would it be easy for them to add what M$ has done if one wanted to control menues as seen in the movie Minority Report? I assume, yes!

I want both, the Move & a 3d TV now.
But my wallet will leave me if I even mention the words 3D in front of it right now
As for picking a game in the new poll, I don't even have any of those new 2010 games listed yet.
Plus I've already got a huge backlog of 57 other PS3 games, 34 PSP games, & 70 360 games to still get through first(not to mention over 500 PS1 games and ton of games from all my older console collections too).
As for my own gaming update,
I was able to finish KZ2, Haze, and Battlefield:Bad Company in the last few weeks.
And I just started on inFamous a couple night's ago.
And once that's done, then I'll probably either start on Red Faction:Guerrilla, start on Time/Shift, or finish completing Prototype

So it's mighty hot where you're at eh Ben? Catching up on games in a room with ac is the only way to go.
I'm in the middle of Red Dead Redemption but I hope to go back to FFXIII when I'm done.
It doesn't let up. Sucks.
Its been pretty warm in the day in Denver too. My PS3 has been much louder then usual. Damn summer.
I intend to spend the summer (or winter here in Australia) moving ever so slowly through Demon's Souls.
I traded in RDR and FFXIII for Demon Souls and it's the best decision I ever made.
Then I'm going to replay Heavy Rain to take a breather when I can't face a DS whipping.
There have been loads of game sales here recently so I managed to pick up the following really cheap:
The Darkness – $5
Dead Space – $7
Ghostbusters – $10
Oblivion GOTY – $10
Siren Blood Curse – $10
Also got Valkyria Chronicles to get back into.
So, too many games and too little time!
Unfortunately I missed out on Bioshock2 and as I am coming to the end of inFamous it will be the next thing to be thrown into the mix of FFXIII and Resistance2.
Of all of those, the only one that I haven't gotten around to purchasing is Bioshock 2 (Those of them that made my purchase list), partially because of reviews comparing it unfavourably to the original, and partly because there are too many other games to get through, so Bioshock 2 gets my vote. But I also need to play more than the two hours that I have thus far done on FFXIII.
As for right now, still trying to get through Valkyria Chronicles, and I have to give Demon's Souls back tomorrow, so I hope to at least get to the first checkpoint this arvy. Not liking my chances though, I've gone through it about twenty times and keep getting killed by this guy with a lance. I hate one-hit kills.
Peace.
I hope 3D won't be a standart in 10 years.. people with bad eyes (like me) don't see in 3D. Few days ago I wanted to go see Shrek Forever in cinema but unfortunatly no one play it in 2D anymore… that's just sad.
Yah, that is really sad. It's like the 50s all over again, film studios shoving 3D down consumers' throats. I tell my friends and family that we shouldn't watch the movie __________ in 3D because it wasn't meant for it, that the filmmakers add 3D tech on top of the 2D stuff they shoot (easiest way to explain to most of them lol). As far as I'm concerned, Avatar is the only movie that was made in 3D from the beginning. The least the film studios can do is release movies that are 3D from the start, not shot in 2D then converted.
However, since most (uh 99%) of the people in North America can't tell the difference between 3D in Alice and Wonderland and Avatar, it doesn't make a difference to them, nor the film studios (the 1% is us, on the net, spreading the true info about 3D movies!). I know I'm exaggerating, but you see my point I'm trying to make =)
In Canada, theatres are a lot more organized with showcasing movies (well, at least in Ontario lol); they can show up a big hit 3 months after release (some theatres, some don't).
So right now, Shrek Forever is still in 2D, almost 2 months after its release =D, with a good amount of showtimes ^.^
its because one costs ya 100 bucks roughly depending how many you want, the other costs ya several thousand!
it would not be too bad if HD TVs went affordable a few years ago, but they did not they were extremely expensive up to like a year ago.
i just upgraded the TV in my room not even 2 years ago, and the one downstairs not even 6 months ago.
most people replaced their old SD TVs within the last year because thats when the prices finally became reasonable, not many people still have SD TVs.
not to mention allot of people hate the idea of wearing glasses, man and i thought i was fussy!
i really could not care less!
if wearing glasses is going to allow me to play games, have bullets fly straight past my head, shrapnel flying towards me ect ect than ill gladly wear the glasses.
A lot of families may have replaced their main TV with a new panel, but there are a lot of second and third TVs, bedrooms in particular are the last to see new TVs unless a teen successfully demands a new TV of course. So there is still plenty of demand for new TVs out there. Not to mention that if you go back 5 years, the people buying panels then for their living room are the ones that TV companies want to buy the 3D TVs now, and as things progress and prices drop, it will become cheaper and more will buy.
yeah, but thats the thing your not going to buy a 3K 3D 50 inch 3D TV for the bed room are ya?
for the living room sure, but for the bed room you really can only fit a 40 inch max!
last time i checked the smallest 3D TV available now is samsungs LED 46 inch.
You missed the point (which actually surprises me). The pattern I've seen all my life is that when the main TV in the living room get's an upgrade, the TV in the living room becomes a hand-me-down either for the second room (aka Dad's Den) or it ends up in either the master bedroom or the #1 child's bedroom. Either way, it's a trickle down effect with the brand new big TV always ending up in the biggest/busiest room.
true, but for the bed room you really can only fit a 40 inch max!
now, granted some may have a 40 inch in the living room, but to be honest i dont know anyone who has a 40 inch in the living room.
everyone i know has smallest a 50 inch and largest a 60 inch TV for the living room, 40 is just too small especially in a big room where you would sit further back.
bed rooms you would sit much, much closer to the TV, i only sit 2M away from my 32 inch.
nor do i know anyone who has anything larger than a 40 inch in the bed room.
Hmm, though I missed quite a few in 2010, I'm not gonna get to them until I played Demon's Souls.
Have to get some 2010 games I missed…
And 3D is just not something we need
I think someone ill-advised Sony when they went ahead with this
A big yes for Demon's Souls for me. It just might be my 2010 game of the year, erm, from 2009…and depending what comes out this year…it just might be my game of the year in general.
There's not a "price hurdle" for 3-D, there's a price barrier. It's simply out of my price range, by a factor of about 4.
My backlog consists of Condemned 2 Bloodshot, Timeshift, Star Wars the Force Unleashed, BioShock, Chronicles of Riddick Assault on Dark Athena (already finished Escape from Butcher Bay), Tomb Raider Underworld, and the second half of Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2. I've been thinking of starting on Timeshift; don't know why, it just sort of appeals to me I guess.
u are gonna like timeshift i really enjoyed the game
Over the past week iv started and completed heavy rain, infamous and bioshock 2, each of them twice. I now plan on borrowing gow3 from a friend so that gets my vote.
In regards to 3d and move, I've preordered move, can't wait to beat up my cousin on that boxing game, and 3d is a wait and see. Definetly not worth jumping into something at the start of it's life cycle, except for the ps3.!

I'm pretty well cought up with every game on the list except Singularity. I plan on getting that midnight tonight along with NCAA Football 11 at my local WAL-MART. Then i will have most of the videogames that came out this year.
Well there's only a few on the list that I was even interested in and I have them all except ff 13. I guess I'll vote for ff13, but I'm still not going to get it right now. When I can find it for $20 or less, might be a long time since it hasn't had a price drop yet, but I'd rather wait.
Well, on that game, I would rather put 20 hours into a quick re-play of White Knight Chronicles, than subject myself to 20-hours of faux-tutorial corridor gameplay in FFXIII.
Yeah, I hear ya. I have played WKC a lot and I absolutely love it and can't wait for 2, but I have been playing every ff game I've missed and I love most of them, so it feels wrong to just not play ff13 at all.
I probably will feel disgusted the entire time I play it, but I have to at least try. However that is why I'm not will to pay much money for it. I'd borrow it if I knew anyone who owned it, but no one I know wants it either.
I'd say I'm more interested in 3D than Move. However, I'm likely to give Move a try long before 3D. I finally got my home theater all set up and kicking ass, I'm not about to upgrade it anytime soon that's for damn sure. That, and my wife and kid are already sold on EyePet. So I suspect when EyePet launches I'll have to bite the bullet and get a Move on…
There's a PSP version of Eyepet coming too, in case your kid loves the PS3 version so much that they want to take it with them…
Really? I'll have to check into that. Hope we get a North American release. I guess that means we might finally get a PSP Camera in North America.
I was thinking the same thing Gumbi. If I remember correctly there is an E3 trailer for the Eyepet on PSP, and there was also a second camera enabled game for the PSP on another E3 trailer. I know that there are several PSP camera enabled games already in Japan, but until I saw the trailer from this year's E3 I didn't anticipate them coming to the western market.
Here's a link to some screenshots;

Oh yeah, now that you mention it I remember seeing that other E3 trailer too. The one with the kids walking around with a PSP superimposing stuff onto whatever they were looking at. I forget what Jack called the genre, 'augmented reality' or something. I think my daughter would have a blast with these kind of games.
I plan on finishing Bioshock 2, I have hardly started it. I got distracted by other things.
I didn't like the make up of the last survey quite honestly. I wanted an option of getting move, but have no interest whatsoever at all in 3d.
