Earlier today, we unveiled the surprise announcement regarding Square-Enix licensing the Unreal engine , and now we've got some new details regarding the upcoming Unreal installment. Previously dubbed Unreal Tournament 2007 , Midway has officially announced the freshly renamed Unreal Tournament 3 for the PC, PS3, and Xbox 360. As of now, it's slated for the second half of 2007.
Epic's now-legendary FPS franchise hasn't seen retail shelves since Unreal Tournament 2004 , and it seems we've been talking about this latest one for years. UT 3 will feature a large number of changes and enhancements, too, including superior AI, all-out enemy aggressiveness, new game modes and weapons, and a variety of online improvements.
As more good news for fans, the single-player campaign will be much deeper, longer, and perhaps even more story-oriented than ever before. As for characters, several of your favorites will make their return, in addition to a handful of new faces. The developers are currently working to optimize the online capability to best suit each platform, as they attempt to bring us fast loading, better matchmaking and co-op campaign play online. Online and multiplayer modes will include Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, Capture the Flag, and a brand new Warfare mode. PC gamers will even have the sweet benefit of the Unreal Engine Toolset, which will allow them to design their own levels, modes, rules, and mods.
As soon as we have more info concerning this hot new title, we'll be sure to let you know.
