When a game apparently takes cues from the likes of God of War III and Uncharted 2: Among Thieves , you just have to be intrigued.
This is no less than 20 minutes of footage from Castlevania: Lords of Shadow ; the play time takes place in a clock tower and starts with some familiar platforming elements. There's timing and skill involved, and there are a few puzzles with which to contend, too. Gabriel is about as nimble as any Castlevania hero has ever been; able to clamber along ledges and leap about quickly.
That last section involving the electrical wall gives us nightmarish flashbacks to that rotating tower of spikes in Hades towards the end of God of War II , but that's okay. Practice makes perfect and all that. It's difficult to get an idea of the game's graphical quality but in situations like this, try to spot well-lighted parts of the screen. When you do that, you can see a large amount of detail and impressive design, so here's hoping…
Lords of Shadow should be out this October.

Yeah… that looks like it'd be slightly frustrating. The graphics look pretty sharp, though.
Oh, and Ben — I believe the spinning tower of spikes in Hades was from the first GoW, not the second. 🙂
I dislike it when people display game play as slow as humanly possible. It makes the game come off as a little boring and/or the displayer not look like he knows what he's doing.
The only reason i may get this is because Kojima Pro is stamped on it. ha!
Haven't really been a fan of Castlevania since NES days.
It looks great but doesn't it look just like Prince of Persia series? I mean even the hero he looks like the prince. It should've been named Castlevania The Prince in Persia
It's a day one purchase nonetheless.
Unfortunately, I'm really not intrigued. Castlevania had a winning formula _already_, and I think Symphony of the Night proved you don't need to go balls crazy with graphics.
Simply another developer trying to put a glossy shine on basically a new IP (Castlevania…a mixture between Uncharted and GoW??? Say what?), to cater to new audiences imo. All they see is $$$ signs.
I'll keep my eyes on it, but it seems like it's a lot of hype and I'm afraid it doesn't feel like it's going to pay off. I just have this bad feeling that it's not going to be as good as we hope.
Wrong gameplay footage, I wanna see a lot of fighting gameplay.
not october, september according to EB.

anyway im really looking forward to this, ive never played a Castlevania game before but the footage is looking really impressive!
This games took a lot of elements from the God of War series! Things like pushing the huge spindle and tippy-toeing along a long balance beam, and swinging from one spot to another, etc.
Oh, and Ben, having finished the entire GoW series recently, I will have to correct you in that the rotating spiked spinners were from GoW 1, and not part 2.
