Ever since we heard about it, we've been waiting for an official release date for the aptly-named DeathSpank .
And now we have it. EA has announced that Hothead Games' latest will hit the PlayStation Network on July 13 for $14.99, and on the following day on the Xbox Live Marketplace for 1,200 Microsoft Points. At first, this loopy title was supposed to be an episodic project but eventually, the game evolved into a full downloadable title. We'll get a very cool action/adventure format with some hacking 'n slashing, along with the benefit of puzzles and a zany storyline; the video below certainly appears promising. We might even be able to call this one an "action/RPG," as you will level up during your progression.
Remember, Ron Gilbert was responsible for the famed Secret of Monkey Island franchise so this should feature some humor reminiscent of that classic series. Gilbert has left Hothead, though, so you better be happy with this product 'cuz there isn't likely to be more from this guy any time soon. The PSN is really starting to pick up lately, too; the likes of Joe Danger and Soldner-X 2: Final Prototype have been great additions.

Often overshadowed by Tim Schafer, Gilbert is the real hero of the Monkey Island series. Those were back in the days when games genuinely made you laugh. There are few and far between that do that now.
If I have to head over to PSN and get the remakes of MI and MI2 along with this one in order to get some laughs, then dang, I just might do that.
You spank Death you get the scythe.
Looks like a kooky game, not really my thing though.
Isn't shank coming out that day as well?
Just watched the video, first time I've heard of this game and my response is . . .

looks like we have a new DNF contender!
undecided on this one, I agree it looks a bit strange which is what would make this game funny and fun. Soo, once I see a review I can make a final decision
Looks like some good clean fun time to be had.
It's always nice to see a developer who can poke fun inside their game.
