When it comes to MMOs, you just can't avoid 'em.
Fees, that is. There were rumors floating about that DC Universe Online would require a subscription fee for playing on the PlayStation 3, and those rumors have now been confirmed. Sony Online Entertainment's Scott Gulbransen told Push Square that a $14.99 entry fee will indeed be mandatory. Of course, this will give you full access to the entire game and its wide assortment of capable superheroes, and this is hardly anything new to MMO fans, but PS3 owners were thinking they might get a break with the free-to-play Network model. Yeah, not really. But at least the PS3 version will launch on the same day as the PC version this November, so that's something. We're wondering how popular the title will be for SOE, and whether or not MMOs will be as big on consoles as they are on PC. Perhaps Final Fantasy XIV , also slated to arrive later in 2010, will reinforce the genre on home entertainment consoles.
Still, you have to make a choice: FFXIV or DCUO? Well, I'll be passing on both but that doesn't mean one – or even both – aren't right up your alley.

I just want to know what the difference is between the Hero Edition on the PS3, and the Collector's Edition on the PC. Only thing I've seen different is the cover art so far. The Collector's Edition costs more, so hopefully they'll be some nice goodies included. And as of E3, the PS3 and PC versions will be $14.99 a month. No biggie for me. I already play two other games I pay for each month, and about to add another on Saturday.
