In speaking to RPG Site , FFXIV producer Hiromichi Tanaka said the game is still on track, and the development team has reached the "critical finishing stage." Thing is, when it comes to MMORPGs, there can be a lot of snags in the design and roll-out process, so fans of the genre have often been skeptical concerning the possibility of a 2010 launch. This being said, Square-Enix appears to be chugging right along, and without hitting any serious obstacles. Said Tanaka:
"Yes, that (2010 release) is the plan. In fact, we were planning to bring the Director, Komoto-san to this interview as well, but he had to remain in Japan to work on the game, so it is really at a critical finishing stage at the moment. We hope you and your readers will enjoy the game when it arrives later this year!"
Of course, those who aren't interested in MMORPGs will have to wait for news of Final Fantasy Versus XIII , which was sadly absent from E3 this year. The disillusioning part about that is simple: Square-Enix promised a closer look at the game earlier this year and here we are, at the halfway point in 2010, and we know little more than we did last year. 'sigh' But at least FFXIV is looking good.

Because S-E bought Eidos who were the publishers of Arkham Asylum. So Eidos became part of S-E, who gained the rights to put their name on anything Eidos. Simple.

Seems weird they'd come out with XIV before XIII Versus. I suppose the prospect of collecting monthly fees moved it up in the production schedule. I'm not interested in an MMO anyway.
sorry to say but i am worried about this title.
a friend of mine is in the beta and ive only been hearing bad things about it.
hopefully i'll get a chance to try it out 1st
Do you mean Alpha? Beta isn't out for a little over a month still.
Also, the Alpha testing doesn't have a whole lot in the way of true gameplay. They spent a lot of time just experimenting on shadow detail when running around.

Well, to be honest, I'm not tht interested in FFIV bec WOW is better in every way!!!!!!!! All anyone need is a pc and ps3 for gaming. Nothing else! All else stinks.
Hated WOW. Too childlike.
Wow is the easiest game in existence.
It takes longer to max out your level on a console rpg than it does wow.
