Now that Gran Turismo 5 has received an official release date of November 2, it's time once again to get excited for the immense amount of realism and detail that is headed our way.
To learn more about what to expect, visit Gran-Turismo.com , which has been updated with all sorts of new info. First of all, it has been confirmed that the ultimate driving simulator will include over 1,000 cars, the most ever in the series. However, it's important to note the two separate tiers of vehicles: the Premium and Standard cars; only 200 of that aforementioned 1,000 will be "Premium" and the difference is in the detail.
"From the seductive curves of exotic sports cars, to the inviting sight of the road ahead when you slide into the driver’s seat and peer past the glass, down to the intricately detailed instrument panel and dashboard… Every one of the over 200 premium cars recreate every last detail of the car, inside and out."
Overall, the entire lineup "has been beautifully recreated through the latest technology and the PlayStation 3's cutting-edge graphics," but we should remember that only the Premium cars will have the highest level of detail; the "intricate modeling of very tiny detail" is clear and downright jaw-dropping. Everything from the instrument panels to the colors and textures of the seats and interior materials unique to a certain vehicle…it'll be there in a vivid, beautifully accurate virtual depiction. They've even got some amazing screenshots of the real thing alongside what we'll see in the game, which ought to impress you.
Side note: The reason I chose this particular pic is because that's the exact interior of the 350Z I used to have…just with the wheel on the other side, of course.

Well… that REALLY kills my enthusiasm.

I think they ALL have cockpit view.
The thing which sets the 200 premium cars apart (as well as the level of detail) is the damage. The premium cars have detachable panels/doors whereas the rest of the cars just get dented and scratched.
All the info I've seen so far suggests that the Standard cars do NOT have a cockpit view. I'm holding out hope that this turns out to be false. If it's true, it makes the 5 year wait feel much less worthwhile

Arvis – Yeah it would be a let down, but I'm confident we'll get the clarification we want to hear, soon.
COME ON ENGLAND!
God damn it, we were terrible!
Not that it matters, but that's a 370Z interior 🙁
Thank you, I'm aware. It's still virtually the same interior.
I think the internets are ablaze with the the 200 premium and 800 standard car issue.
I am taking the approach of the 800 cars NOT having an interior view. Why? I won't be disappointed over the fact if it is indeed true.
Regardless….
I know the 200 (plus) Premium cars coming will literally make everything look 2nd rate. We know the individual panels of the cars are modeled, so that tells me we have some serious customization features coming our way on those specific cars.
Plus, this is Kaz and PD we are talking about, the game is going to be epic!!
maxpontiac, "I am taking the approach of the 800 cars NOT having an interior view. Why? I won't be disappointed over the fact if it is indeed true."
This is the approach I'd rather want the people to have than the other way around. Look, I love GT and I respect whatever decision Kaz and PD have made, but if we are to believe that all standards will have cockpit view and it ends up not being true, people will be majorly upset later.
Other than that, believe what you believe (and I'll respect it) but be clear on this: PD HAVE NEVER CLAIMED THAT STANDARD CARS WILL HAVE COCKPIT VIEW. Sorry about the caps, but please remember this if it turns out to be an upset. Don't be blaming on PD or Kaz.
Well if people are wanting to debate. The latest thing on the rumor board is that the 800 odd cars won't have a interior at all. Check GT planet. This is still waiting to be confirmed. Gamespot is saying every car will have interior but if you watch the latest trailer the 800 cars brought over from GT4 have blacked out windows in the video and you can't see the inside.
Why thumb this guy down? What he's saying is correct. Look at the released standard car pictures guys. The windows are tinted enough that you can't really see any details inside, just a simple silhouette of the driver and such.
My goodness, this is going to get a lot uglier than I thought. Seeing complaints from GTplanet was enough, now I'm going to probably see it here, youtube, facebook, everywhere. From the looks of things, everyone here is assuming there will be interiors for all cars…uh oh.
Went to gtplanet and asked the question. It seems people where having a misunderstanding. Glad it got cleared up. Thanks to ADRX_ CLUTCH.
GUYS PLEASE READ THIS COMMENT!!
GTPlanet made a mistake. NO WHERE DOES IT SAY THAT GT5â²S STANDARD CARS WILL HAVE NO INTERIORS. EVERY CAR IN GT5 ,STANDARD AND PREMUIM, WILL HAVE INTERIORS. That means all of the 1000+ cars in Gran Turismo 5 will have interiors. The only difference between STANDARD cars and PREMIUM cars in GT5 is that the PREMUIM CARS WILL BE MORE DETAILS, DETAILED ON THE UNDERSIDE OF THE PREMIUM CARS, WILL BE ABLE TO HAVE REGULAR HEADLIGHTS AND HIGH BEAM HEADLIGHTS, AND THE DAMAGE WILL BE MORE DETIALED AND PANELS WILL FALL OFF THE CARS. STANDARD CARS WILL NOT BE AS DETAILED AS PREMUIM CARS (BUT WILL STILL LOOK BETTER THAN ANY GAME ON THE CURRENT MARKET,) ONLY HAVE STANDARD HEADLIGHTS, AND THE DETIAL IN THE DAMAGE ON STANDARD CARS ARE MERELY SCRATCHES AND INDENTS. Two of my team members played the E3 demo and were able to talk to some of the PD employees that made the game. My members got to drive both some premium and standard cars. They ALL HAVE INTERIORS. @GTPlanet, please do more research before you throw something like this out. This sturd up alot of confusion this week. PLEASE INFORM THAT THIS ARTICLE WAS INCORRECT AND TELL THEM THE SPECIFIC FEATURES GT5 WILL DEFINENTLY HAVE. Iâm not offending anyone. Im just saying that this could mislead ALOT of people
I spend quiet a bit of time in GTplanet, so I'm afraid what you're saying isn't the case. The truth is the truth. Kaz has even mentioned that perhaps, he'll consider making blacked-out interiors, like those in GTPSP.
It is what it is, and it looks like in the 5 years time, only 200 plus premiums can only be made.
@Daus
Not sure which of you to believe, you the one who spends time on GTPlanet, and Sawao who has spokent o people who played hands on at E3 and talked to PD employees about the topic.
Hmmmm…hold on, I think maybe I might just about be willing to trust the source who has actual information and not just reading a website. Of course neither of you are a primary source, so I will hold on to my judgement until I hear from PD on the topic, but for right now I am more inclined to believe someone who has spoken directly with people who've played the game at E3 this year and talked with PD folks. It just kinda makes more sense – ya know?
Highlander, you shouldn't be talking about a site in which you clearly don't know about. It just makes more sense – ya know?
GTplanet gets their info from multiple sources including videos, twitter interviews, and even the official site. And yes, that includes having one of their own people talking to Sony reps and playing the demo. We have translators, analyze every bit of detail that is said by Kaz and the journalist in videos and in writing.
If multiple sources and what Kaz have said and the translation we did doesn't satisfy you, go to GT's official site in both Japanese (if you can understand or translate it yourself) and English, and see what you think of it.

Bty sawao_yamanaka, GTplanet doesn't claim any info. All they do is take what is being researched by journalists around the world and Kaz himself, and then analyzing that info. If you actually go there, all the info and what is said there is clearly cited a source(s), unless otherwise notified that the info came directly from GTplanet (usually written as "Exclusive")…just like this site.
It's like saying psxextreme is the fault when there is misleading information like release dates when clearly the source is from somewhere else.
Last but not least be careful what you say. All the cars in the E3 demo were all premium. If you want to go against that, there's solid proof and I'll be happy to show you.

I hear what you're saying even if it turns out to be true. I definitely will not be disappointed. I would feel more sorry for kaz and PD for the fact that the reviewers will crucify them for this. I've read all the praise forza 3 got and if GT 5 comes out and it plays like it used to. Meaning you get you license rank up and whatnot. You always started with the generic car. Imagine what they will label it as. I hyave yet to actually be disappointed at all. I have been waiting for this game since I had my ps3, almost from the release time of it. Although does anyone know how many disc it comes with? That's a pretty big box for a normal release and I'm not talking about the limited edition.
That's all fine anw well Daus.
As I said, I will hold judgment until I hear it from the lips of Sony/PD.
Highlander, by that do you mean personally saying it to you? Kaz and Sony reps has pretty much already comment about the two distinction between standard and premium, as they are the sources for the journalists providing the interview. Mix that with their official site.

Neat stuff! I can't wait to see what the official game will look and drive like! Mmm…
Ideally, all cars would be nice to have interiors but they may not. It is a drawback not having all interiored but its one we'll have to shoulder for the greatest racing experience pretty much on any console.
The 200 that will have interiors will be excellent and perfect…just like GT5P but more, you'll see every stitch on the steering wheel on upholstery etc. As for more interiors, its highly possible that we'll get more interiors downloaded onto cars that need them by way of DLC over time. Its a theory but its possible.
Its quite simple. Forza 3 has an interior view for every car in the game. Do you really think Yamauchi would let Forza outshine his game. Come on!!
I wonder if they will be licensing any celebrity/tv cars for the game, either included or as DLC: General Lee, KITT/KARR (old and/or new versions), BTTF Delorean, Lightning McQueen (probably not), Bandit's TA, Ghostbusters wagon, etc. BO Paradise teased with unlicensed versions of these, but they weren't the "real" thing… would love to see GT5 detail on them!
I would hate to repeat anything that has been said but if any of you are members over on the gtplanet it seems the sleuths over there have nearly figured out that all non premium cars with either have no cockpit view or a very bare one and considering Yamauchi, i dont think he would let "bare" slide. Maybe just the dash but not much else might make it im thinking.
We have lived without it and TBO there are much more important things to focus on as well. I dont need to see the felt or leather textures in my damn seat unless im taking some open door shots in photomode.
