This could be bad news for all you loyal fans of Quantic Dream's masterpiece.
Initially, we were told that the Heavy Rain Chronicles, a series of downloadable episodes, each focusing on one of the main characters, would appear on a monthly basis as of April. Well, it started out fine, as we received "The Taxidermist," an extra prequel episode for Madison. But since then, we haven't seen another piece of DLC and we've been waiting for our bonus play time with Ethan, Norman and Scott. Unfortunately, according to a European source , work on this DLC has been halted in favor of Heavy Rain: Move Edition . Granted, this is one game that could really benefit from the Move as it's all about immersion, but we kinda wanted that DLC because the story is so gripping and so memorable. Quantic's Guillame de Fondaumière may have said – the translation is spotty – that with the new Move-related project, the Chronicles may have to take a backseat for a while. Perhaps they might even be canceled entirely, which would definitely suck.
By the way, "The Taxidermist" is a piece of the game the developers obviously already had; they didn't make it after the game was released, as it includes some of the earliest footage shown of the title. Basically, it seems they just cut this from the final product and then re-released it as DLC so technically, they may never have started work on the Chronicles. And by the way, if you want to see the Move Edition in action, check out the E3 presentation .

… well this is fu**ing sh**…
If I had to choose, just give me the DLC. I'd be paying for it anyway.
Well, if they push to get the 'Movable' edition of the game out, perhaps the DLC will be ready for a holiday release and a Collector's edition on BluRay with Movability and the DLC included on disc?
Ugh, how disapointing, i couldnt care less for the move version, i saw the trailer, it looks daft.
I'll be so upset if they cancel the Chronicles episodes, i don't usually pay to download DLC off the PS Store, but for Heavy Rain i was willing to, still it has been my favourite game this gen so far, so i am not going to complain too much.
that really sucks. the move version should be sweet though. i hope you can download a patch to make the current one move compatible
yup you can, they did mention that it would be available at the same time.
i hope it doesn't cost too much
The patch should be free.
yeah, they said it was going to be free, so lets hope they meant it.
free? i'm all for it then. that's what i like to hear. now i'm not bitter
Dammit. Move to me just isn't that appealing and now it is jamming up one of the best games of the year from getting the extra content it was supposed to have. Well, if the rumours turn out to be true anyway.
Heavy Rain Chronicles: another victim to casual gaming.
LOL! Your comment made me think.
We have twitch gamers and casual gamers. What do we call all of us ordinary gamers who aren't shooter fans and dabble in many genre of game? I feel sure that some will answer that those gamers are the 'hardcore' gamers, but I don't feel like a hardcore gamer. I'm by no means a casual gamer, and I'm certainly not a twitch gamer.
I know, I am a 'classic' gamer. Yep, that works.
Any other 'classic' gamers out there?
Classic Gamer for sure!
This sucks, I've been itchin for more Heavy Rain, maybe I'll just have to do another playthrough.
I enjoy highly polished titles. Of course I have my favorite genres and could tell you my favorite game without hesitation, but the fact that I own and enjoy…
LittleBigPlanet
God of War 3 (Collection as well)
Dead Space
Uncharted 2
Red Dead Redemption
Folklore
Soul Calibur 4
Dante's Inferno
Resonance of Fate
Call of Duty (all of them)
Mirror's Edge
Street Fighter 4
And a large and varied genre assortment of downloadable titles. I just love great games.
Classic gamer since I could pick up a controller, move the stick and press the only button on it.
YAY! Atari 2600 FTW!
dang right, I actually started on a colecovision but can't remember the controller config 🙂
I adopted the term "Avid Gamer". I'm thinking that's the term that goes between casual and hardcore.
If by "classic" you mean older, yeah, that's me.
It will really suck if they don't come out with it at all. I have not yet been able to get the game, but I've been planning on it and this doesn't exactly sit well with me either.
I'm a fan of move but it shouldn't be any reason to stop new content.
I thought The Taxidermist was great. I was really looking forward to the other chronicles.
As long as it's just on hold, I guess that's ok. I'll be disappointed if it actually gets canceled.
I thought the episode was short. I was really glad that I got it for free, because the price attached to it was way too much for all you got. I really hope the other ones are longer, but I know of one I will buy no matter what.
I'm willing to wait if a move version of Heavy Rain comes out. (if it were 3D and Move combined, the level of reality could be astonishing)
that would be sick. heavy rain in 3d would be jaw dropping
Shocking…another company produces a halfa** product so they can recycle the unused material as DLC, but they didn't. This may sound harsh, but at $5 dollars for each episode, one can easily see the rip off especially when they last only 15 minutes. I did enjoy the Taxidermist and Heavy Rain extremely, but the frustration of paying full price for an incomplete product is bothering. They could have easily put the extra content on the disc for gamers to unlock once they completed the main campaign. $60 for an incomplete product is frustrating and makes me reconsider buying games when there's a price cut, buy them used, or even just renting them like I used too. I don't waste money on kicks anymore, but I just don't support spending extra money on DLC to to make an imcomplete product (I paid full price for) into a complete experience. As far a the Move Edition, I don't really have interest in move nor do I care to play Heavy Rain again. Played it one full time, then after that, what ever amount of time it took to see the all the other endings. I am not sure why people would buy a repackaged game they already beaten unless is was cheaper. And they chose a bad time to release this. Too many other games are arriving.
Couldn't care less about Move. Give me more HR dlc!
It looks like some people don't know the patch for the Move its going to be free.

Well, that just sucks. I was actually quite alright with the downloadable content for HR, and would probably have picked up a GOTY edition for it in addition to my copy. Hopefully QuanticDream sees that people actually want this and release all three at the same time as consolation for making people wait.
Peace.
That's too bad, I probably wouldn't have gotten them anyway. I did enjoy the Taxidermist a lot but now that I know the ending meh. Maybe they are just delaying it to make the episodes move compatible first.
I'd rather see they worked on Heavy Rain 2 than some tiny DLC episodes!
QD has moved onto a new product, they've been clear there will not be a HR2
Just like MM was clear there would be no LBP2……wait….. Just like Jaffe was clear there was no Twisted Metal in the works…..wait…. Just like Sucker Punch said they weren't working on Infamous 2…..wait….

Wow, I feel the snark here. Anyway, how would they do a sequel to Heavy Rain with all of the different endings, it just wouldn't be fun to have one ending canon, and the other twenty-one or so as fluff.
Besides QD's next project is titled Horizon, so unless it's in terms of a clearing sky or such as, no relation. So can it, bud.
Peace.
All I know is if Move makes it easier to get Ethan through that frigging electricity substation, than I'm all for it.
Needed all my fingers and my tongue to cope with that one!
Where would I stick the Move controller then?
Is a Move Edition really going to make more money for QD than if they'd release their promised DLC at $5 a pop? Something tells me those who want HR have it already and that is the market they should be going after by fulfilling their original promise.
I certainly don't see a huge market not buying HR because they're all perturbed over there not being a Move Edition.
If adding Move to HR was a simple matter then there'd be no harm done but since they're actually contemplating canceling the dlc, it is obviously a much more involved process. I for one think their efforts have been misdirected in this regards.
I have to correct Ben.
The Taxidermist was never intended to be part of Heavy Rain. It was a demo intentionally not connected to the main storyline…which makes it perfect as DLC (unlike the chapters cut from ACII, for instance). They did have it done (more or less) before release, but only because they built it to show to the press.

Are you sure about that, because I remember reading somewhere (here?), that the Taxidermist chapter had been cut from the game as it didn't really fit the tone, or fit into the story in some way. Something like that. Anyone want to back me up, or debunk me?
Peace.
why is it when games cut content and release it as paid DLC they get chewed up, but than heavy rain did the same thing and gets a free pass?
anyway, i lost interest in the DLC ages ago.
the taxidermist was average at best, it was far far far too short.
if a developer wants to sell me DLC they need to start releasing it within a month of the games release, otherwise i loose interest and move on to something else.
perfect example alan wake i was dying to get the DLC so i can find out what happens at the end.
but its not coming out till late july so now i really could not care less.
Maybe the Move edition will include some DLC with it.
