Sony Computer Entertainment America (SCEA) has announced the Gran Turismo 5 Collector's Edition, which will launch right alongside the standard edition on November 2. Featuring a "must-have collection of exclusive items," this is one hell of an appealing package, but as quantities will be limited, you should probably place your pre-order ASAP. For the price of $99.99, you will receive a veritable bevy of goodies, ranging from a diecast car to mount on your entertainment center to DLC. Here's the list:
But wait, where's my t-shirt? Well, okay, I suppose that's enough good stuff, anyway, and for the GT fan, it's probably well worth the price of admission. You can bet publishers will once again go crazy with Collector's/Limited Editions of big games this fall (they did it last year), just 'cuz they're typically big sellers. So, is this one yours at the end of 2010?

I've always wanted a GT5 shirt (black) too, but oh well. What interests me about this collectors editon is surely the 300-page book and the die cast model. The 5 DLC is meh, and wished the key chain were those long ones.
Nonetheless, I'm getting it (hoping it won't get sold out when I pre-order/buy it).
The keychains with the "loop" of ribbon on them are called lanyards. I never knew that until I started working for Jagermeister.
Lanyards are for Ed Hardy wearin' guidos.

Didn't know that. Also (Ed Hardy?!?!), I'd prefer it because of its use more so than "fashion." I hang up my keys and sometimes wear it around my neck if I could (like when I'm wearing a jacket) or when I'm doing mechanical work. They're also easily more noticeable to find.
If you can't find your keys without a "ribbon" attached to them then maybe you shouldn't be driving. 😉

Well sorry if you have something personal with people who prefer lanyards. You misinterpreted my comment bty. I didn't say I couldn't find it or have a hard time doing so with shorter ribbons. I happen to put my keys in my drawer and having a longer ribbon is more noticeable to find, even if it's slight.

while I think its cool you get the diecast car and keychain, I still think I'll just get the game and save myself $40. I'll need that $40 to get some of the other amazing titles coming out this fall/winter.

I think there might be some distinction from the article from the PsBlog. According to the psblog the exclusive bonus car(s) with the GT designed livery are for those who pre-orders the game, and possibly different for each retailer.
The 5 DLC voucher pack is a different thing and one that is not exclusive to the Collector's edition, just free. At least that's how I read it.

Hm, haven't seen any UK/GER retailers listing the CE. Any chance you guys know some European retailers that have the GT5 CE in stock and deliver to Germany?
Package looks solid, I hate to admit though, that as a normal buyer I'm gonna get screwed over. Those who dish out extra cash get some 'super powerful cars' which results in an unfair advantage online and easier campaign progression -_-.
Sucks that now every game launches with some sort of cash cow, srry I mean commercial DLC, attached.
I'd like to purchase that CE, looks rad, but in Germany we're gonna have to dish out 100€ for that at least I assume, way too much for a game, even if it's a CE.

Don't know about the book valued about 40 bucks, but definitely worth it in the collection. Beats out pages of art pictures (like in many collector's edition of other games) imo.

Is that a collectible case that comes with the package? I have the MGS4 Limited Edition set and I have to admit that the special case and soundtrack really made it worth it. I wouldn't mind having another "book end" for my collection.

This should be fun. I like purchasing Limited Edition versions. Though, in this case, GT5 L.E. will probably be an over produced product and have no value to it, like GOWIII: Ultimate Edition.

my biggest gripe with sony this gen is there so frigging tight a$$ed!
M$ spent so much money getting their E3 note televised by multiple channels.
it was so easy and convenient coming downstairs turning the TV on and boom its there waiting for me.
sonys one i had to turn my laptop on, wait for it to boot up, find my VGA cable, hook it up to the TV than check IGN, for some reason they did not have it yet, so i checked G4TV their site was down so i checked a few others than finally found it on GT though it kept skipping for some reason.
M$ go out of their way to bring it to you, but sony you have to go looking for them.
they did not even have it on their site!

4 simple plain reasons.
1 US is always first for some reason, with everything, be it beta, competition, game release, hardware release. if someone gets something before the US than the whole worlds going to end!

whatever M$ releases in the US they release here, cant say the same about sony.

as i said i cant open my eyes without seeing a advertisement for kinect or even a add for a 360 exclusive. MNR just came out guess how many adds ive seen?

thats the main problem with sony, M$ throw cash around like its sunflower seeds grabbing content for their customers.
sony wont, and because of that their customers are loosing out on content.
thats the main reason why i refuse to pay for PSN plus, because sony dont want to spend cash so why should i pay them?
if they were to spend a little cash and get some classics onto the PSN than id be happy to shell some their way, but until then.
