Killzone 3 made a huge splash with the first gameplay footage that debuted on GameTrailers TV on Friday night, but that was nothing compared to what showed up during Sony's E3 press conference.
We've got the gameplay vid right here for you; this is what they showed on stage and although you can't see it in 3D, just try to imagine it… Insane, right? If it's even possible, KZ3 looks even more detailed and impressive than its predecessor, which remains one of the most visually impressive titles of the generation. A few points of interest: notice the blood spatters don't blind you; they're slashed around the edges of your vision, which seems to work wonderfully. Also, notice the sheer amount of destruction going on in the environments; the level of intensity is sky-high. Lastly, as Arnold noted, it really does seem as if we're more of a match for the Helghast this time around.
This is only one of the videos that wowed the crowd, but it's certainly one of the best. This, along with the likes of Gran Turismo 5 , will be available in stunning 3D…if you've got the means and motivation. We just can't even imagine how some of this gameplay must've looked to the attendees; they got 3D glasses to watch this KZ3 footage! Wow.
Related Game(s): Killzone 3
It looked fantastic to me. The water effects and blizzards were jaw droppers. Hope they've got some hidden goodies for the multiplayer as well.
Graphics looked great but what made my jaw drop was how well they implemented the flight and control of the mech like device.
What blew my mind was that it's still in it's alpha stage o.0
I'm not really a fan of jet packs in games. Doesn't usually translate to a fun gaming experience. Still, you have to keep an open mind about these things.
@ Dridion
Look at the top of the video–"PRE ALPHA CODE"
Agree with you Alienange. One thing I was a bit surprised about was that they didn't show anything on Resistance 3. I was looking forward to that too. Maybe at TGS, who knows? Also, correction on last comment, it's pre alpha X)…even better!
Edit: Dang Kang caught me 😉 yup PRE ALPHA OMG!

*silence*
(picks up jaw)
Sorry guys, took a while to get myself together:)
Yeah, so the attendees weren't watching the exact same thing as us? If they were watching it all in 3D wouldn't it look all fuzzy and junk? Hmm …maybe I'm missing something. This game did look awesome though. From what I've read on a few sites they said they were pretty blown away by the 3D effect. Talking about how the snow flakes all stood out at the proper distance etc, awesome
You could see in the actual press conference footage that the video screens behind the stage were blurry. But then they showed the same level but the non-3D footage on our screen.
Our feed was different than the one at E3. Not really that hard to understand is it?
E3 has been so great for Sony!! But it's a shame that neither FFVersus nor the Last Guardian showed up. Anyway. I'm really hyped about GT5 and Killzone 3. I also kinda want the new 3DS…. it looks good. And There are 3 shin megami tenseis, a kingdom hearts and FF in development for it =)
So just confirm that the ICO collction is real and I'll be very happy =)

And also, check this out (GT5 collector's edition related)

I agree with you about The Last Guardian. Would have been nice to see something other than G4's quick clip claiming there'd be something to see during Sony's conference.
As for FFVSXIII, I don't believe it even exists. SE made some CGI film and are pretending it's a game. I call BS. We'll get Portal 2 before we see a VsXIII game.
I also kind of want the new 3DS! It just looks like it would be fun.
Got to admit it was amazing, and the crowd was probably pooping themselves. I also noticed the blood slashes functioning in such a way as to both show damage and direction of assaults. Snowghast are gonna be fun to hunt down. I know that place is a desolate factory planet but I hope for a few more colorful environments somewhere in the mix.
Well they did say they were going to mix up the locals some. On that note I think they should do an underwater level on the sea floor (wieghted shoe, no swimming) and incorperate water current and killer sea life.

So I got home from work after spending all afternoon watching press conferences and the first thing I said to my wife was, "Honey, we need to talk about 3D TV's."
This game really could make me buy a 3D TV. Awesome video.
This might make me want a 3D TV too. Then I see the prices and think, no, it's not completely necessary… It breaks my heart.
Loving everything 'bout this game
The cinematic quality really drives this game
It's why it's one of the few FPSs I actually like, you can tell the campaign mode is the focus of the game and they want to deliver a true story together.
I want to play games on 3D, including this one. But I wear glasses, so I wonder how that will work with 3D glasses?
The only game that got me the most excited at E3 after GT5, and maybe Mafia 2, NFS Hot Pursuit and Dead Space 2. Look at the graphics. I hate FPS's, but I can't get enough of Killzone 2. Says alot about the quality of the game in my opinion. What happened to Last Guardian, would have rather seen that then Twisted Metal. Yeah thumb me down, but I am just stating my opinion. Take it or leave it.
I was impressed by it as well. I think what's great is that what we see in the video is the 3D version of the gameplay with scaled back detail and res, and it still looked great. So for those of us who can't dole out the $2500 to get ourselves one of them 3dtv's by 02/2011 should still be in for a treat.
Looks like they ironed out those check point hang ups too. Notice the save icon appears and there is no freezing?
AWESOME! Technically brilliant from what I am seeing!
It proves again, that only now, are we going to start seeing what the PS3 can really do… but I quiver at the the thought of a PS4, when all games with be HD 1080p native and in 3D… well the majority of them anyway!
Q!

Great looking stuff. I can't wait to try out one of those jetpacks. If that was pre-alpha the finished version should be facking spectacular. Lets hope this one doesn't take as long as Killzone 2 took to develop.
P.S. Where is Resistance 3?
They said it's out in Feb 2011.
meh, still not impressed.
the footage shown of crysis 2 is much more impressive than this, see all the cement flying all over the place after the explosion goes off, or even the glass shattering.
though the thing that has impressed me the most this E3 was the short but sweet video we saw of metal gear rising.
oh my god that looks so effin sweet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
trip a enemy up, slow down time, line up your slash and boom slice him in twain!
that really impressed me, slicing limbs off at will be it legs, arms, or completley slicing a enemy from head to toe!
cut, take indeed!!!
they even had him slicing through metal supports, cars and even cement walls!!!!!!!!!!
this is looking like the best sword fighting game ever demised!
HURRY THE F*CK UP AND RELEASE GOD DAM IT!!!!!!!!!!
Crysis 2 footage may be better but you're not least impressed by KZ3 footage?
Let me guess, there's limited games to get impressed by you is it?
An epic trailer of one game is shown and you were impressed, then another epic trailer is shown and you go "meh".

KZ3s trailer was not epic.
crysis 2s was impressive because it had destructible environments and impressive physics.
KZ3 had some pretty flying jet packs.
wow thats soooooooooooooooooooo impressive!
KZ3 has destructable environments. KZ2 had destructable environments. Are you now commenting on trailers you haven't watched now too? Once again you display ignorance on the subject. Crysis 2 looks nice yea but you can't say the KZ3 footage was not good because it didn't have destrucable environments. Because from the footage it clearly does.
@dummy with no name
Are you sure you will be able to handle Crysis 2?I think it might be a little too hard for a fake whiny gamer as yourself; No disrespect of course 🙂
I believe the word your looking for is "poseur" HeXeN.
Crysis 2 more impressive?
…the Crysis 2 that has NEVER shown any gameplay? The Crysis 2 that, even with CGI, can't seem to compete visually with Killzone 3?
Oh yes. Definitely more impressive. 'rolling eyes'
I'm not trying to agree with this kid but they did show Crysis 2 gameplay at E3, on stage. Just wanted to point that out.
Also note Killzone footage is in Pre-Alpha stage so it isn't anywhere near done yet.
Both Crysis 2 and KZ3 are impressive, but there's something wrong with you if you're not impressed by one.
right crysis 2 has never showed gameplay footage, so is that why GT TV had like 10 minutes of it last week?
come on ben i cant know more about these games than a so called games journalist.
KZ3 does not have destructible environments, well not that i have seen.
when enemies shoot walls does bits of cement fly off?
how about when grenades go off?
i thought so.
I had an ear-to-ear grin on my face the whole time this trailer was playing. The action is just insane, I can't wait to get this 🙂 It was really the highlight of the show for me.

the visuals r stunning that bit right at the beginning when u drop down and look at the scale of the place is epic
Looks good this game. One of the better moments of E3. 🙂
Did anyone ever complete KZ1 ? I got stuck and couldnt past a bit but I sure as hell clocked 2 after dying like 30 times on the last boss. He was pretty solid.
omg their is alot of games i saw in e3 that i want but this is by far the best game in e3
Well that's certainly debatable, there was a lot of big titles announced including Twisted Metal & LBP2, which I know aren't the same thing as KZ3 but it could be a close call depending on what kind of gamer you are.
The game=play looks amazing, wish I was there in the crowd w. 3D glasses and interviewing big names in the industry. Being a field reporter for qore or psx or somewhere would be a great job.
this is going to be sick. the gameplay look amazing. altho the guy playing the game sucked at it prolly one of the developers that doesnt play fps just makes them lol
To be fair, they had a limited time on stage, so he couldn't exactly hide behind cover.
My wife hates shooters and even she was impressed with this one.
Looks like someone needs to make her a good shooter with LBP2, right? 😉
It was great stuff beside the guy not aiming and having no idea what a reload button is used for .
