It was arguably the biggest hit of Sony's E3 press conference; Twisted Metal is back and better than ever!
Firstly, make sure to check out the announcement article along with the stylish unveiling , and then check out our exclusive feature with Eat Sleep Play, where we've included all the gameplay shown on stage. Now, in addition to the video, we've got some screenshots for you, and they capture the awesome intensity we saw in the live action goodness. The game won't be out until next year, but that doesn't mean we can't be totally amped up now, right? Also, we don't want you to get the wrong idea: Jaffe and Campbell made it clear that Twisted Metal would indeed feature a single-player element. Some may have been misled by the fact that the only footage seen at the E3 presentation was multiplayer-oriented, and they didn't really divulge any info concerning the single-player campaign. But it's definitely there and to learn more about it, check out Dave and Scott's responses to our questions.
We just can't wait for this one. It's yet another PlayStation 3 exclusive that sets Sony's machine apart from the competition.

SICK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That conference was something else to watch live with some buddies on a conference call on psn. Good stuff Sony, totally stole the show imo of course.
I loved Twisted Metal III back on the PS1, just rented it one day since I heard so much about it and the idea was great. Nice to see something like this shaping up nicely, after the trailer I was shocked to see some serious gameplay. Jaffe …you sly dog >.>
They talked up the single player aspect after the unveiling on G4. Can't say I care about this much but I hope Jaffe uses the extra time for polish, it's looking pretty multiplat from a visual standpoint so far.
Those guys on the motor bikes with chainsaws looked WAY too powerful. Two hits to take out an opponent??!
They probably have low health, that's how the vehicles are balanced sometimes.
And it might not be so easy to hit an opponent with the flaming chain saw since this is a fast paced game.
3 hits is actually a lot considering how you can get raped in this game with a special move.
But we'll see, people spamming the chainsaws could become annoying
The Teamwork (factions) aspect online play will bring to the game will really open up this game. Will probably form a lot of clans and such
Hope there's a lot of online modes and clans support
The screens look great, shows off those pesky passengers with shotguns and other weapons (hoping for a Gatling gun 😀 )
What I'm really waiting for is those specials, the strategic ones (those haven't been implemented before)
Oh yes! I've been wanting for the longest time for a Twisted Metal. 1 was OK, but 2 was the bomb! 3… ok but was a bit less than 2. 4–ZZZzzzz.
3&4 were the $hit.
ah david you sly misleading devil!
yeah, im so not going to be at E3 this year, but ill be popping in to announce my new game.
anyway ITS ABOUT GOD DAM TIME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
now all i need is syphon filter 5 the other game in a series still from the ps1. that and twisted metal are 2 of the very few series still with us, for some reason sony loves creating new IPs, building them up to fame than killing them off. cough crash bandicoot, cough spyro ect ect.
o, speaking of syphon filter i said id be off to SCEAs head office if they did not announce syphon filter 5 this E3.
guess where im going?
no, seriously though what the f*ck is taking them so long?
its one of playstations most famous series, syphon filter to playstation is what halo is to M$, or mario is to nintendo.
in fact syphon filter is so important to the playstation brand sony should be thrown in jail for treason for not announcing it yet!
Twisted Metal is going to rock! The ones on ps1 were sweet, and Black was sick as hell. I just hope this one is as twisted as the others, especially Black.
this game will be amazing.
I'll probably get flak for this, but i dont think the game looks that great considering how long it has been in development. Sure it looks good, but they could have done more in the past 3 years.
Such a great game for PSOne. I'm sad to say I watched the E3 footage of people playing the game and I was very disappointed. The graphics engine looks poor and uninspiring like a ps2 title and i saw lots of clipping, cars driving through walls and fences without any collision detection.
"Hey but it's just a E3 demo". Well if it's not gonna be like that upon release i doubt they would have showed it that much. I'll pass.
