Ubisoft: Brotherhood Has An “AC II-Sized Script”

With Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood all set and ready to drop towards the end of 2010, only one year apart from the release of Assassin's Creed II , many fans have asked the same question: "isn't this rushed…?"

It doesn't really appear rushed in looking at the first gameplay footage , but the question lingers. Thankfully, Ubisoft Montreal designer Patrick Plourde addressed this concern in speaking to CVG ; he says Brotherhood features an "AC II-sized script" and that because it's a direct continuation of last year's story, it came quickly and naturally. Thing is, they already have the story and characters established – not to mention the necessary game engine – so perhaps we shouldn't be too surprised to see another title so soon. Said Plourde:

"For us, since it's a direct sequel to AC2, it's a continuation of the Ezio story we know and we'll be able to convince people that actually it's not rushed. It's like a new season of a TV show. We have established characters, we have an established setting, we can move on to just telling a brand new storyline, introducing new skills, new features within a known frame that we actually spent more time polishing and figuring out how we're going to introduce new characters."

Plourde went on to add that the script is just as long as it was for ACII, and that players will "realize the scope" when they sit down to play Brotherhood . He mentions "a lot of content," and admits that if they were using a new hero and an entirely new setting, then maybe the project would be rushed. But as this isn't the case, we probably shouldn't worry.  That's fine by us; we just want to make sure they keep the same style of stealth-related gameplay; this, along with the freedom, is the heart and soul of AC.

Sorry it looked like they rushed it to me, I was way under impressed by what I saw, AC2 had better graphics.

I have not looked into this much as i have still not played ACII (It's on my list), but i was very impressed by the gameplay i saw from the e3 footage where he is using the cannon's, it cetainly looks like that have chopped the repetative gameplay of the 1st game, so i am looking forward to this, when i go back to Uni and have my PS3 available i will certainly be picking up ACII just to prepare for this.

i'm looking forward to this…. this better be good.
I hope they dont sacrifice good story for 'good' coop – to me the story is more important than coop.

also… how does this continuation work? at the end of the first one… they were in the van heading to a different HQ, they sorta hinted that he can enter the animus along the way – is there a mobile version of the animus?

anyway, as long as they keep the 'story' prioritized above all else (especially coop)
all will be well

I loved both AC1 and AC2, so I'm really looking forward to Brotherhood.
I'm hoping they can find a better way to implement the monetary system they introduced in AC2. It was cool, but felt very incomplete in AC2 as, once you've gotten enough money to do all your fort/castle upgrades, there is no further need for money.
