Nobody can really be sure, but it seems as if the majority of readers believe Gran Turismo 5 will at least be ready to go for the holiday season.
Sony has "guaranteed" that Polyphony's highly anticipated driving simulator will be available in 2010, although we don't yet have an official release date. We're expecting to get one in a few days at E3 but in the meantime, we can only go by what we've heard: GameStop's database has it listed for November 1 (which just screams "placeholder"), various sources have said to expect it anywhere between the end of September and late-October, and the developers…well, they remain quiet on the issue. We know Kazunori Yamauchi is a big-time perfectionist and we also know GT5 will get the benefit of a few new features, but racing fans are getting a touch impatient. But when it does finally arrive, you can bet it will be another glossy feather in the PS3's cap. It may not be for everyone but if it doesn't redefine the nature of racing simulators – as most every GT installment does – than we'll all be pretty darn shocked. Speaking of E3, we move on to this week's question…
We want to know what you think will be the biggest announcement at Sony's press conference. We've already given you our list of predictions , but what piece of news do you believe will set Sony's presentation apart? Or do you simply not expect anything significant at all? There are quite a few possibilities but perhaps some are more likely than others, so choose carefully!
What we should know is that GT5 should release before LB2, Infamous 2, or any other Ps3 exclusives coming out this year since GT5 is Kevin Butler's next project. It wouldn't make sense to promote a game that's coming out later.
As for E3, a PS4 teaser is NOT necessary, so I'm counting that one out. If anything, they would want the consumers to focus on 3D or Move. For me, the biggest news would be a new cheaper Ps3 model. That would make it tough to release a PSP2 since the price would somehow have to be relevant, bring in new customers, and the fact that it'll take a direct finishing blow at the 360 elite.
Considering that a year or so ago it was said that GT5 could release anytime they wanted, I think that GT5 will drop between October and the End of November.
Lol.no one has voted for the teaser for ps4! WHO WILL THE FIRST ONE BE?
I hope it does soon. Getting a bit tired of GT4. I didn't get GT5P cause I wanted to wait to experience the completed game.
You sold yourself short. GT5P is an outstanding preview of what's to come.
If anything, do yourself a favor and rent it, for all your cars are transferable to GT5!
And all the licenses too?
im far more excited about the next motostorm than GT5. But I do want GT5 to drop soon to get Sony some more sales and keep their racing fanbase happy.
I voted for nothing earth-shattering because Move will be the main focus for Sony at E3.
After seeing the Le Mans videos from this weekend, I am convinced we'll have it in around 4 months. Take heart true believers!!
Definetly GT5 I'm gonna marry that game when it comes out lol.
Come on GT5…
I picked teaser for the PS4
LOL! Someone had to.
OK, so let's let the official PS4 watch begin here.
If it does happen i'll create a hunt down every sony employee involved with ps4 facebok group and invite you all to join. a PS4? after i loaded so much cash into my ps3? I effing hoping not.
i think PSP2 or a HUUUUUGE exclusive. Why else would every other announcement come out before E3.
i pretty much lost all of my hype for GT5. I feel that polyphony really let us down by postponing the game every time the launch date was getting closer. i'll probably still get it, but i don't think i'll love it as much then if it came out sooner.
I felt very let down the last time they delayed. It was like all the anticipation was let go like air escaping from a balloon.
well, at least im not alone. but hopefully some new e3 videos and possibly a demo will enlighten me.
When did they postpone the North American release date? I've yet to see one.
@fluffer well its been so scrappy towards a solid release date that all you van really say is its been delayed several times.
@highlander and infiniti, i saw that cockpit gameplay video the other day and its videos that will re-energise people's enthusiasm.
@Zorigo,
I hope so. I was very hyped for this game, and anticipated it's release. Not so much now. At least no viable competitor has come in the 9-12 months since the last time it looked likely to release.
It wasn't Polyphony, it was Sony
That is a flawed way of going about it.
Sony only confirmed ONE launch date, and that was March for Japan ONLY.
Any disappointment you guys have over GT5 not being out yet is self-induced.
Thank you, maxpontiac for pointing to what we know as the obvious. I don't understand why these people think the title keeps getting delayed when there has only been that one date for Japan.
Well, let's see, it's because Polyphony said about a year ago that they could release it any time they wanted – it was ready.
That'll be why…
I'm with you just kind of forgot about it.
Highlander –
I don't know what to say to someone who interpreted KY's statement as a release date.
That is a failure on your part for making such an assumption.
no, sony and polyphony were both giving us hints and assumptions along with actual fact that they were going to release GT5 on certain quarters or seasons. and the fact that they either didn't say anything about or changed the actual date/time period is what irritates.
Whilst i do realy want this to do well has anyone else thought about what would happen if this cocked up?
Not being negative, i too think it will succeed but…
mhm.
thats what they said last year, so ill believe it once its in my hands.
i really cant wait to get this though.
i went on a track day yesterday for the first time in ages and had the best time ive had in a long time!
kinda scary at times, had a few slipups and a few freaking Asians who can not drive for sh*t but besides that it was allot of fun.
its put me back into the racing mood, as soon as i got home i went back to NFS shift.
nice to get back to the old roots every once in a while!
I expect a date announcement at E3 to confirm a Autumn/Fall release date.
Q4 2010 please.
I'm not expecting anything earth shattering from Sony at E3. Though they do have a habit of surprising us. A huge new exclusive? Hey, we can always hope 🙂 We've already seen most of the game trailers, though I guess there are a few left. Plenty of Move stuff I'm sure, I'm hoping they might have an interesting hardcore game that uses the Move, but I'm not counting on it. Certainly a big 3-D demo that will look like nothing on everybody's 2-D TV sets, and plenty of guys in suits using the word "revolutionary" until I'm sick of hearing it.
A new PS3? What, the ultra-slim? Well, that would certainly be a surprise. PS4? No, it's just too early. We're really at the pinnacle of the current generation now, at least in my opinion. PSP2? If it's the PSP Go / Dsi hybrid I've seen articles on, that won't qualify as any sort of news to me.
I think it will be some huge exclusive, maybe a whole new IP.
It's what I hope,
alright I'm hoping for the PSP2 also, but right now, more for the huge exclusive.
GT5 comes out either in November or December, no doubt.
The big thing at E3 for Sony will be a big exclusive, hoping for Demon's Souls 2 or Heavenly Sword 2
But anything like Legend of Dragoon 2, Skies of Arcadia 2, a new Shin Megami game will be just as sick…
I am absolutely, categorically, positively 1000% certain that GT5 will most certainly be out before Christmas.
BUT WHAT FRIGGING YEAR??????
Hoooray!!!!
It's Christmas, "THIS" year!!!!
