If any of you have any bright ideas, feel free to toss 'em out. Because although we know a few things based on inside sources, we have no idea what this could be. Honestly.
The video below is a promotional trailer for this week's GameTrailers TV E3 special and while they mostly plan to show off recently announced blockbusters and other known titles, one announcement has caused quite the stir. Evidently, a "legendary game designer" will reveal his "shocking new project" for the very first time on the show, which airs Friday on Spike at 11 p.m. If you miss it, you can certainly watch it at GameTrailers.com a bit later, but that's hardly the point of interest, here. The point is…what the hell is it?
"Legendary game designer?" David Jaffe? Hideo Kojima? Everyone has been waiting for Jaffe and Eat Sleep Play to finally announce their mystery project – which apparently has nothing to do with Twisted Metal , if we take Jaffe at his Twitter word – so this could be it. Kojima might be ready to announce something MGS-related…other than that, we don't know. Kazunori Yamauchi? Nah, we know it's all about Gran Turismo 5 with him. And we also know about Sid Meier's Civilization 5 . So…
I don't know if I can make any better guesses than PSXE or some of the posters here. If I were to assume a "legendary" developer then I might think of the following:
– H. Kojima
– D. Jaffe
– H. Itagaki
– J. Carmack
– T. Price
– West & Zampella
– W. Wright
I doubt it will be Kojima, has he ever announced a game on GameTrailers? Carmack is likely too caught up in Rage to be working on another title. Wright is already working on a big project we all know will be Civ5.
That leaves Jaffe, Itagaki, Price, and West/Zampella.
From interviews, Price seems to only be scratching the surface of 360 development. Unlikely that he has anything to announce yet. Itagaki? Same as Kojima, would he choose to announce his next title on GameTrailers? I'm guessing that would not be his first choice.
Jaffe is always a good guess and might be the one to make an apperience, but I believe we're probably going to hear something from Respawn Entertainment and their new title.

Civ 5 is sid meier i thought, not will wright…
You are so right! Wright was Spore and Sim City… thanks for the correction!
It's not airing on Gametrailers, it's airing on Spike. So yeah, Kojima might announce something there. Maybe Zone of the Enders 3?
It's on Spike network, but the show is called GTTV (GameTrailers TV).
Are you aware if Kojima has revealed games on GTTV before? I just don't think he would reveal the project on a TV show in the US days before E3. Maybe something in Japan, but why GTTV?

"FINAL FANTASY 7 REMAKEZ!!!1!!111"
Lol. Seriously though, this must be the only site that can post on something about a mystery game, without a bunch of idiots pleading for it to be a frickin remake of FF7.
-See Cod fish comment.
^^^^^^ lol
There are no other legendary game designer I know of besides those that Ben mentioned and a few others. Other than that, I don't think any other game designer's game would interest as much as those guys.

It'll be P. Molyneux announcing something else he can't deliver on.
I think Twisted Metal IS on the way. Not sure that it is what they are talking about here, though.
So, I'm guessing that they are making all of these announcements because they always get beat to the punch by rumors? I don't remember there ever being so many announcements right before E3. I hope there are some good things left in the bag.
DMC5 by ninja theory , cause it can't be an exclusive, this E3 will have maybe 5 ppl present, why??? it's the world cup baby 🙂

or KH III or the new pac-man game
I consider Hironobu Sakaguchi legendary game designer. He is my main guy for JRPGs. He is so legendary that almost all his games have become legend. but since his exile from SE, the organization sank, none of their production really rocked. Yet his Lost Odyssey still shine this gen.
Another legendary desiner, Hideo Kojima, he who is still creating living legend… i.e. peace walker – walking the peace

Its a game from that a$$ Itigaki, and it will be 360 exclusive, with lots of boob action.
You will see….
David Braben and Elite 4?
bet ya its Tomonobu Itagaki's new game.
it wont be davids because he said hes not going to E3 this year.
if they were to announce it you would think they would use the opportunity to show it off at E3 so i doubt it would be that.
50 bucks says its Tomonobu Itagaki's new game, he said the game hes working on is nothing like ninja gaiden its in a different genre but i hope hes lying.
ninja gaiden is by far the best action game out there!!!
just the combat system, nothing can match the combat system in ninja gaiden.
not DMC, not bayonetta, not dantes inferno, not darksiders, not even GOW!
nothing has a better combat system than ninja gaiden!!!!!!!!!!

My hopeful (but doubtful) assumption: Hideo Kojima will be announcing a port of Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker for the PSN. Or even better… a PS3 disc with Peace Walker and The Twin Snakes. 🙂
Yeah… I have high hopes.
Its wouldn't surprise me if it was something as simple as Portal 2 (which has basically already been announced), maybe Half-Life 3 as Valve has been pretty quiet lately.
Announcing these games early is actually a brilliant idea. This will get a lot more people to watch E3 live in order to see previews of them, instead of just watching the clips later.
I hope MGS goes back to being ps3 exclusive. Even if it is too late to change Metal Gear Solid: Rising.
Anyway didn't Hideo Kojima not really have much to do with MGSR?
Yes tonight is the night!
