Update: Jeri Ryan has posted on her Twitter page that the trailer is not for a game:
"It's not a game trailer. Actually was made for the director to sell WB on his vision for a reimagined MK film."
Original Story:
The original "Mortal Kombat" may be one of the few decent game-to-movie adaptations – depending on who you ask – and we've heard that Warner Bros. might want to bring the franchise back to the big screen.
Now, that rumor has even more fuel, although the video on display at Kotaku could be a live-action trailer for the new Mortal Kombat game. And you know, either way, that trailer is just plain sick . You may recognize some of the faces in the video but even if you don't, you can't possibly miss the intense, dark tone of the gritty atmosphere; one that seems more reminiscent of the horror genre rather than the over-the-top action category. Again, though, it sort of falls in line with the franchise's game aim: MK creator Ed Boon has said the team intends to deliver an adult-oriented title – "People want an M-Rated MK…damnit, we will give them an M-rated MK." At the same time, and as Kotaku obviously mentions, there really is too much star power for this to be some flighty fan project. Hollywood may still view the "Mortal Kombat" series as a definite money-maker; one of the few related to the video game industry that has performed well in the past.
The video is bound to turn heads, regardless. Whatever it turns out to be, it should certainly give everyone a bit of a jolt.
He made it as a pitch to Warner Bros. for another MK movie that he wants to direct. No word on Warner Bros. reaction to the footage, however.
That was fu**in ACE. Too bad it will never get made or we will see anything like it.

Even though I've never play any Mortal Kombat games, but I did love the first movie, the second one? got a little silly. If this get to be make into a movie, should be a good one.
