Ben-DutkaWell, that glossy debut trailer may have swayed some of our readers, because the results from this past week's poll aren't exactly definitive.
I think it goes without saying that the PSXE community as a whole isn't all that enamored with the massively popular Call of Duty series, but after the explosive debut of that trailer, and the promises of a more robust single-player campaign, we wanted to know what y'all thought… And as it turns out, while the largest chunk still say they don't care about the game, the rest is split almost evenly between "looks awesome," "looks good," and "maybe." Regardless of personal preference, you really can't deny the inherent quality of most all CoD shooters and Black Ops developer Treyarch has proven themselves again and again. The idea of using Vietnam as a new environment – amongst other new locales – is a good one in our view, and as a blockbuster piece of entertainment, the new installment could really fit the bill. We would suggest giving it a chance but of course, as it comes out on November 9, there may be all sorts of competition for it… Can anyone say, Gran Turismo 5 ?
And speaking of GT5, let's find out when you think the release date will be: it sits at November 1 in GameStop's database but we all know it's a placeholder date. Sony has been adamant in their claims that it will absolutely be out before the end of the year, and recent rumors place it as early as September. We're really hoping for an official date at E3, which is why we're asking now…whaddya say?

Either way, a bundle would be perfect for this game
Not too stoked for GT5 anymore, unless of course, they also include the current 2078 year's line up of flying hovercraft car models from the 5th Element.

Black Ops is definitely on my buy list but I am setting my expectations high and hopefully this will be able to meet it.
Some of the things that I would like to see in this is a more lively environment with robust color and diversity. Also, I really doubt the controls will be changed but if they were I would be glad. I don't mean anything drastic but after hours of online play I would like something a bit new. There are definitely some glitches in the online play which I would like to see fixed and of course, what everybody else is looking for, a good single player campaign.
So, overall I guess in the most ideal circumstances I would receive a shooter with diverse and rich environments with weight and kickback along with an in depth and intriguing story line and a mp function that wasn't filled with glitches and morons. More destructibility would be nice as well. It's a lot to ask but after playing every COD made so far, those are the tings that would keep me interested in the series.
So more like Killzone 2 style controls you mean?
I don't think changing the controls of the COD series. It's actually the best shooter control scheme I've ever used as it feels really intuitive.
It sounds like you want Killzone and Battlefield to have babies.
I'm just not caring about CoD until the release is a lot closer. Maybe then I'll take a closer look, but I just don't usually get that into war games.
im picking up black ops because it sounds like the TRUE successor to cod4.
but if they removed zombies, i will be VERY let down.
I might be getting it along with you. It's a toss up between this and Medal of Honor. Not sure which one will be the one….

Huh, I played World at War on a friend's 360 and had a very 'meh' type experience, so COD is, and will remain a no-go franchise for me. GT5. Damn, it comes out when it comes out. It's not even funny anymore. I'll take a gander at August, just to throw everyone off the scent. Besides they said after puching it out of March in JP that it was a 'minor delay'. Whatever.

black ops because well most of the games treyarch release are pretty crap.
QOS is by far the best game they have made and that was alright, had its moments but nothing special.
GT5, well thats obvious!

i mean some developers like insomniac have released 5 read it 5!!!!! games in the time that PD have released………. well none!
prologue does not count because that was just a 50 dollar demo.
im much more excited for F.3.A.R, red faction Armageddon and crysis 2.

there last title was fear 2 back in feb 09 i wonder what they have been doing since then.
i really hope its a new IP, a game to make us sh*t our pants.
if not hopefully its a new condemned game.
i really enjoyed condemned 2 it was actually quite scary and fun.
especially the detective parts of the game they were really cool!
they needed way more of those.
well i don't really give a rats a$$ about call of duty black ops. as for GT 5 I say it well release july or aug. what good games are be released at time fame till then i got FORZA 3 to keep me busy.

you have to play at least fear and fear 2 project origin to understand the story in fear 3.
paxton fettel is the main character in fear 3 you wont know who he is and his relation with alma if you have not played fear 1.
its on ps3 even so if you dont want to get it on PC get it for ps3, though the pc version is much better.
as for the expansion packs its really up too you they really dont add that much too the story.
fear 1 is the must because its the only one which deals with paxton the main character in F.3.A.R
meh. I'm not interested in either. Black Ops is just SSDD to me and as for GT5 I've never been into racing games. They bore me. To each his own though.
I do not want the control scheme of Killzone in COD, that's too much weight and wouldn't work well with this series. Just a tad more weight, maybe make your view shift a little rather than have the constant gliding on glass effect and having a bit of kickback the weapons. a kickback level that wouldn't allow you to keep perfect aim while squeezing off a full clip on a fully automatic weapon. I am getting COD Black Ops, Cant wait to be honest I enjoy all the COD series, ok single player was short on MW2 but I now play online with friends and clan. So Yeah im looking forward to it. 🙂
Like I always do I wait. I have a feeling that Treyarch will do good with this game + it's different it's set in the cold war and that's what caught my attention.
