We all knew it was coming, and for one of the first great looks at it, make sure to pick up the July edition of Game Informer.
Sitting right there on the cover will be inFamous 2 , Sucker Punch's highly anticipated follow-up to last year's excellent action/adventure blastfest. The title sold over 2 million copies – clearly warranting the sequel in question – and remains one of our personal favorites of the generation. Although the magazine won't divulge many details , they do tell us to expect a brand new city, new powers, "and a powerful new foe," which may or may not be familiar… They're also boasting about super-huge previews for the likes of Killzone 3 , Call of Duty: Black Ops , God of War: Ghost of Sparta and Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep , so this isn't exactly what you would call a throwaway issue. For our part, we're just overjoyed that Cole McGrath will return and – presumably – we'll receive the same gameplay foundation with a different city and a few new powers; isn't this what we've been asking for all along? Anybody with some other ideas as to how Sucker Punch can make inFamous 2 even better? The first one was pretty darn solid…
Now, just give us that big ol' Dead Space 2 unveiling , and we'll be plenty happy going into E3.

I agree. I liked Cole's voice just fine.
I actually couldn't stand his voice. I thought it sounded a bit over the top for my taste.
The benefits of a sequel are always felt
Less development time
More of everything. Sometimes a deeper/fuller storyline, more characters, etc.
Soooo he's going to look and sound different? You know if it isn't broken then don't fix it. I'll understand if it was something simple like the voice actor not being available.
well I guess Sony's E3 is going to suck
Brandon? Is that you?
I think it'd be a good idea if they used the karma level you had from the first game and have you start out with that and have a much larger story divergance due to karma anlong with more good/bad side missions. Also include a lot more Sasha.
I think he is young kessler.
OOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHH FU*K YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
my favorite game coming back to life, only thing better would be crash bandicoot coming back to life but thats never going to happen 🙁
i hope they give the game a complete graphics overhaul!
dont get me wrong, gameplay and the storyline is always the most important but why have 2 great things mixed with one crappy one?
add better graphics, and more abilities, thats the only way i can think of improving infamous.
it is the only game i have played since the ps1 days that i never get sick of.
every time im finished playing new games and dont have anything else to do i go straight back to infamous, nothing can make me sick of that game!!!!
inFamous's graphics were spectacular, not just for an open-world game, but for games in general. So, I'm not sure why you keep mentioning that. Maybe, you're not a fan of the comic-book style? Just put on GTA4, (which looked pretty darn good, too), and notice the difference in terms of resolution, detail, and color.
In inFamous, just kill a random npc. Zoom-in to his/her face after they've been downed, and you'll see that they don't die, and their eye's continue to blink and shift in bewilderment. That's amazing detail. Or get-in a massive street battle involving a couple super-mech conduits and 20-30 soldiers, and see how well the animation and frame-rate keeps up. Notice the beautiful lighting and shadows in the night/day cycles or when going underground. You gotta give credit where it's due. Sure it's got some minor pop-in the far-off distance, and there is some slow-down when there's like a fleet of enemies on screen blowing up stuff, but notice the zero screen-tearing.
yeah but it seriously lacks color.
you have a choice of grey, grey or grey.
plus they really need to work on the electricity it looks crap!
have a look at the electricity in TFU than compare it to infamous TFUs electricity looks 10 times better.
I'm wanting to bet that's a completely different person. I remember reading on Sucker Punch's official forums about them looking for a new voice actor for the main character. Also…. that doesn't even look anything like Cole even if he did age. He looks younger than Cole anyways lol.
I'll see if I can find the post.
prequel perhaps?
Color me a theorist but could it be possible that you won't be playing as cole but possibly kesler[who by the way *spoilers* is cole]?-I mean this "brand new city" could very well be where kesler lived before 'the beast' ran him out.
It is also an opportunity to give more dimension to characters like trish.Cole does look noticeably younger so its all a possibility.
If I'm not mistaken it was the same city.
*SPOILER WARNING*
it was indeed the same city, and even if you were going to play as Kessler, he wouldnt be younger because Kessler was inactive before the really bad dude showed up. the raysphere jumpstarted his (coles) powers earlier than his were supposed to naturally (in kesslers timeline), to give cole a training ground for the real deal.
*END SPOILERS*
i think the diff in appearance is a translation quirk between the game and this new render.

I really hope that if that's what cole looks like then its only what he looks like when he's good, and maybe the more you go evil the more his looks will change, because he looks like a panzy on the cover of game informer.
Personally I though the original was fantastic. It was amazing from a sandbox perspective (it was like spider-man but less lame). Though Im not feeling the new design for Cole, he looks like he just woke up from a bad rave party. I also hope they don't ditch the comic vibe to the design. Though I am still excited because honestly while the major plot twists were standard for both comic and games I just never saw them coming in infamous. So continuing the story is keeping my anticipation high.
The new Cole looked very different from the first one, and the voice change doesn't help either. But I am still looking forward to inFamous 2 very much.
InFamous 2 is going to be awesome. InFamous was my first game on the PS3 and a great game to that. I look forward in starting off InFamous 2 with all my powers intact and see how the story grows.
inFamous is one of those games that "more of the same" really is good enough. A new city is fairly obvious, brushed up graphics are always welcome, but other than that more of the same is sweet enough and a first day buy for me (and I don't buy many games first day… I'm too cheap 😉 ).
