Deus Ex: Human Revolution Trailer Exudes Slickness

There's one game scheduled to launch later this generation that isn't on the tongues of enough gamers.

It's called Deus Ex: Human Revolution , another installment in the long-running and critically acclaimed role-playing franchise. Some may not want to call it an "RPG," although fans will often defend it as such; these titles allow the player customization and optional advancement often found in RPGs, although it also features the standard FPS elements. They usually have something to do with a broken future of some kind, an attempt to make humans "better" gone awry, and a main character who has all sorts of technological (and seemingly even supernatural) abilities. The good news? Fans are getting their just due, because this is clearly a Deus Ex game. Check it out:

As you can see from this freshly released pre-E3 video, the visuals are super slick (although I doubt we're seeing any real gameplay) and the atmosphere is appropriately awesome. If they do this right, it could easily be one of the best and most rewarding experiences of the generation, so cross your fingers…

The original was pretty good for its time, the sequel imo was completely forgettable (played it on Xbox). I have not liked a first person RPG since Shining the Holy Ark on Sega Saturn, and recent WRPG's have done little to up my excitement for another.

Sounds interesting but I'm honestly not to convinced, hopefully they'll show some good stuff at E3 and I'll give it a look

Could be good, not getting a AAA feeling though.

The lead character of the game looks like Vamp from MGS4.

Another Deus Ex….
Oh hell yeah!

And this one even looks a 1000 times better than it's older siblings, The Conspiracy, Invisible War, or it's 1/2 brother, Project Snowblind too.

I want it, I need it, & I just got's to have it!!!!!

I've always liked the idea of transhuman/posthuman sci-fi ideals, so I'll make sure to keep my eye on this one.
Peace.

It was fun, but not as good as the titles before it.

It must be difficult to make a sequel to one of the best games ever made. Deus Ex was flat out fantastic for when it was released. If this one is just as innovative we're in for a real treat.

Temjin001,
If you can find it, try "Project Snowblind" too(it was on the PS2).

It's actually started out as the 3rd game of the Dues Ex series & is still considered as the actual Spiritual successor of the Dues Ex series.

But because DE:Invisible Wars didn't do so such great sales on the Xbox, they decided to set Project Snowblind in it's own universe.

It still keeps all the elements of the other Dues Ex' games, those of the human nanotechnology, augmentations, and conspiracy theories alive.

Much more info on Project Snowblind here:

I kind of laughed when it said the year was 2027. No way will our world look like that in only 17 short years. Minor nit pick, but I still laughed. Anyways, should have said "The year is 2057." Would have been more believable.

but its not out this year 🙁
at the end of the trailer it says early 2011, i was really excited for it.
i hope they show us some gameplay trailers though, what is it with developers latley and just showing us trailers that have nothing to do with the gameplay.
like the KZ3 trailer yesterday what the ^%$# was that all about!?????

Haven't picked up a DE title all my life, maybe I was a bit too young. Nevertheless I plan to keep an eye out for this, the trailer looks enticing.

But I'm gonna need a review!

This trailer outstrips that of many recently. Blows K3s teaser to bits too (although to be fair, that was just a teaser).

The trailer was impressive and does show signs of intelligence the 1st game had. The flashes of the illuminate symbols that we actually have in our world (like on the American Doller bill) made me excited. It should be one of the most engrossing games this gen with a set up like this.

However, this still is all CG….and even in CG there are some hiccups. I really hope they don't concentrate too much on action and eye candy slickness…that would not be what Deus Ex was about. Anyway, the hiccups were small and the trailer in the end is a win.

As someone else said, the original is one of the greatest games of all time and without much of the original team, i can only wish them the best. It's a mega tough task.

This is really looking awesome to me. I've never played a Deus Ex game, but I've heard people talk about how they spent an entire semester of college addicted to them – immersed in the storyline with all its numerous twists and turns. And the visuals are looking pretty darned nice as well. Love the near-future cities at night. Beautiful. May be another day one buy for me.

I haven't played the series, but have heard nothing but praise about it.

The trailer was INCREDIBLE. Easily one of the most interesting and exciting trailers I've ever seen.

I've never played a deus ex game, back in the day I didn't have a computer that could play that kind of game. Honestly I'd prefer it to be 3rd person rather than 1st, I'm thinking an improved mgs4 mechanic would be awesome, improved in the melee area I mean.

First person will be ok I guess, but how enhanced can I feel when I don't have peripheral vision and fps's never have good jumping and melee, always feel like a lead statue moving around on rollers.

I'll wait for reviews, but definitely keep my eye on it.

The original was awesome. Should they not gimp any gameplay/story elements for console-port's sake/disc space limitations (Deus Ex was originally PC-only), DE:HR might become an awesome piece of interactive entertainment.

Lookin' forward to this.

10 days to go =)

I can't really get excited for a game when its trailer is in CGI. That isn't to say that I'm not anticipating this game, but trailers like this are completely pointless (except for giving you a very tiny glimpse of the story) when you realize that trailers are supposed to give us a glimpse of the real game and not a bunch of pretty CGI effects. Of course, maybe the gameplay's not ready to be shown yet, but it still kinda makes me mad how every game has to release a pointless CGI trailer nowadays.

At least KZ3's trailer showed real "brutal-melee" animations from the game (or so Guerrilla Games is saying). Of course that wasn't exactly a good trailer either, now was it?

Awesome. Can't wait to see more of it. I've liked the earlier DE games so it's good to see another one.

Now if only another Thief sequel would come out!
