If there's one game survival/horror fans are waiting on, it's Dead Space 2 .
And although we're expecting a lot more details to arrive at E3, it seems developer Visceral plans to treat us to a "BIG reveal" tomorrow. This information comes courtesy of the game's official Twitter page : "Stay tuned tomorrow, we'll be posting a BIG reveal and our fans and followers will be the first to see it!" Okay, so that implies the reveal may hit that Twitter page first, or perhaps they've got a members newsletter floating around of which we're currently unaware. All we have of this hotly anticipated sequel so far is the following debut trailer, with a few helpful notes from GameTrailers:
So who's hyped for this one? I admit that Resident Evil 5 was fun, but Dead Space really opened up a new pathway for this niche genre, so the expectations for the follow-up are sky-high. And if you're concerned about the faster, more aggressive gameplay, Visceral has already clarified that they won't sacrifice any creepiness or tenseness for the sake of…um…speedy death.

The wait for E3 seems to be getting longer, not shorter.
EDIT: Dead Space blew RE5 out of the water. EA and Visceral really surprised a lot of people with Dead Space and breathed new life into the survival horror genre. I just hope with their new focus on action, they don't turn this into another RE5.

Man. You are not kidding. With GT5 and it's potential reveal, I thought the waiting game couldn't get any worse.
I am very hyped over Dead Space 2, and that video almost makes me want to go play Dead Space 1 again!
Yup, I'll be playing Dead Space again before i pop Dead Space 2 in.
I think RE5 and Dead space is different though. Dead space is kinda fast paced horror and RE is slow and more on puzzles too.
Gran Turismo is gonna be BIG. AS LONg AS THEY DON'T PUSH IT BACK AGAIN! lol. too bad Valkyrie profile wasn't the world exclusive reveal, it was just information on AC3 And Prosoccer Evolution. WAY TO MISLEAD US PSM3.
Your right they're different but Resident Evil has always been about survival horror but now its about action with a few puzzles thrown in the mix. Boring ones too. Not nearly as creative as the ones in previous titles.
RE5 and even 4 is way more about the action shooting mechanic than it was about it's puzzle elements. RE4 was great loved it, but RE5 felt like the biggest departure from the tried and true formula, so I didn't have as much love for it.
Game is gonna come with FF7 demo. Thats the only possibilty.
Why would EA publish a Square-[Enix] title?
They wouldn't. He was joking.
i'll take that as a sign that i've been working too hard this week, time to call it a day.
I'll probably get this when it's $20 just because I haven't played the first one yet so I might as well wait until I can get them both for $40 and have a dead space weekend.
Off topic: new video's for white knight 2 have me uber stoked! I am so excited, Ben if you hear anything about american release date you better jump on it and post it big and proud, because some of us are very anxious for that news I'm sure.
Keep em comin Visceral.
The Big Reveal ended up being the cover art for Dead Space 2. On the the XBOX360 case none the less:(
Dead Space is one of my favorite games of all time – the sequel is a definite pre-order.
dead space blow re5 out of the water.
From everything I have seem albeit not much I am really excited for this game. I was at first sceptical about it because they said they were making Isaac more bad ass but from the trailers this one is going to be a day one purchase for me. It is starting to seem like there is going to be a deep twisted story about what actually is going on in the in-game world and psychological twists are my favourite.
"if you're concerned about the faster, more aggressive gameplay, Visceral has already clarified that they won't sacrifice any creepiness"
I'm still a little concerned. I thought the game was perfect and I'd be happy with just a change of scenery. Having said that, they've made the only multiplat to have maintained a Space in my collection, so I'll trust them.
Oh Dead Space, my consolation game after the death of the old dog. Aside from that miserable fact, I loved it, and while I was initially concerned about the emphasis of action in the sequel, I have long since laid away any qualms. I want this game.
Peace.
Yeah Jack…when I really look at my gaming collection, Dead Space is one of the games I'm most proud to have in my collection. Certainly DS is my favorite game this gen so far in the survival/horror genre.
It mixed together, amazingly: a great intriguing story, actual sci-fi weapon technology like the plasma cutter (which in my opinion is the most bad-ass gun in the game), dual shooting modes, awesome and addictive gameplay, a truly creepy atmosphere, diverse situations throughout (although this is where I fill they can expand on in the sequel), a solid voice cast, cool boss fights (although they weren't the most challenging bosses but I'm not complaining), and personally I felt like I was planted in the universe and into Isaac's shoes.
I truly felt engaged in this game, in the world, on the spaceship, with some alien creature infecting, spreading, and killing. When I look back to my first playthrough, I remember jumping a lot. Now GIVEN of course I have a decent 5.1 stereo system and an HD television. It takes a lot to horrify me…I'm no pansy but Dead Space really did a number on my horror resistant mental barrier. It didn't break it down but it caused it to crumble. If DS2 is as good as the first as I'm sure it will be with the higher emphasis on Isaac's psychological status, I'm pretty sure it'll get me jumbled up just as much.
I still get creeped out thinking about the medical wing in Dead Space.
I take it the weapons are gonna change this time around, no more mining tools. I think Isaac will be a little bit more prepared than he was for his first encounter with necromorphs.
im really worried about this title, there making it sound like there going for pure action and less emphasis on horror.
i certainly hope not because well dead space was not exactly scary, so any deduction no matter how minor would be very disappointing.
who do i have to kill to get a game have me cowering in the corner with the lights on?
honestly the last game i could call remotely scary is doom 3 and that was released what 5 years ago!!
the last game i could truly call scary, i mean really scary was the suffering.
not only was that tense, and had allot of BOO! moments, it also had a psychological effect that really played with your head.
come on people its not like im hard to scare, i cant watch horror movies for peeks sake!
if any horror movie can scare the sh*t out of me, than surely someone can come up with a game to do the same thing.
fear was good, not great.
scary but not as scary as i would like, it was really cool though i loved the flashbacks.
especially the one where your walking to a door and can hear a baby crying, than you turn around the room starts filling with blood than alma appears.
god i CAN NOT WAIT! till fear 3 comes out!!!
hopefully it will be a return to the original, not that crap they call fear 2.
wonder what monolith are working on now?
id love to see a new condemned 3 be announced at E3, i loved condemned 2 such a cool game!!!!
Another case of somebody hyping something up, only to let everyone down…"a BIG reveal" that turned out to be box cover art??? LOL You kidding me? That is hardly a reveal, yet alone a BIG reveal. The box art isn't even all that original or great either. Congratulations on the BIG reveal LOL!
wow, I am soo behind on comments, my new PS3 is consuming time faster than the mad hatter consumes tea.
I did not buy the first Dead Space as horror is not my thing, but if a DS2 came out and proved worthwhile I would be glad to have it as the first of this type in my collection.
