NBA Elite 11 Will “Revolutionize” Basketball Simulators

Well, maybe the new name will help to invigorate the old ailing franchise.

EA has announced NBA Elite 11 for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 and it's set to release in October. The previous title of "NBA Live" has been dropped in favor of the title you see here, and EA claims the new installment "will revolutionize the way basketball simulation games are played." This will be thanks to an "all-new technology base, a new control scheme, and a real-time physics system." EA Sports president Peter Moore adds that they're finally going to give b-ball fans the game they've been "begging for." With features like "Hands-On Control" (one-to-one responsiveness of a player's movement and actions on the court), and that new physics system (every player moves independently of another), this one has a chance to shine. We're most interested in that fresh take on the shooting mechanic, though, because it will reflect a player's position on the court and the skill of the user, rather than simply relying on "randomly generated dice rolls." Said the game's Creative Director, David Littman:

"NBA ELITE 11 will give gamers the same skill set that a pro basketball player has at his disposal. This is the first basketball simulation videogame where you are controlling every movement, dribble move, shot, dunk, lay-up, steal and block in real time with one-to-one control. You're no longer going to push a button and watch the computer generate a long animation sequence. It is like being on a basketball court with an amazing set of skills. This is going to change what people have come to expect from a basketball simulation videogame."

In development at EA Canada, NBA Elite 11 could be the basketball game this new generation deserves.

Alright! I haven't played an NBA game in a long, long time. Perhaps it's time to give this one a shot when it's released.

Also, super happy to see the Canadian flag in that photo. ^.^ Especially with Kid Canada carrying the ball.

Yea, Kid Canada who couldn't get it done……in the playoffs……AGAIN! Yes I am a Suns fans, born and raised there, so I am a little miffed still that SmelL.A. gets to win it again because the NBA (thanks in part to the refs) gets to have their dream match up of the old glory days of Boston vs. L.A.

Fixed I tell ya, FIXED!

Kinda like how the Wings got like 18 penalties when the Sharks only had like 5… 5 on 3 power plays… blah. Johan Franzen got a high stick to the face that drew blood and HE got the penalty for "tripping" the guy who high sticked him. The Sharks got what was coming to them when they got swept in the next round though 😉

I'm pretty sure Kid Canada came through with some big shots for a particular win while only seeing out of one freaking eye. lol. From what I saw on those games, a lot more is to blame from LA shutting down their systems, out-rebounding (like that buzzer-beater 2-point offensive rebound ftw from LA), and the general lack of intensity from the big boys. Nash, 2-time MVP, is the last person to blame for that series.

People often overlook how the team works together. Their motion offense that made them successful in the early part of the playoffs slowed way down in this round. Nash makes reDICulous passes, yes, but almost always they are to people who are mid-motion.

@mike rlz – Don't get me started on the blatant thievery the Red Wings have been a victim of the last 2 years. Last year's finals against the Pens was a real eye opener for me. The blatant calls against the Wings made it feel like it was Detroit Vs Pittsburgh and the refs. No suspension for Malkin?! It was obvious the league didn't want their Chosen One, Cindy Crosby, to lose another championship at the hands of the Stanley Cup rich Red Wings.

Why did you have to go get me all worked up like that?…..Today was supposed to be a good day!

Anyways, here's hoping the Celtics grab the Lakers by their neck and stick thier nose's in their own $#!? again.

Quit your complaining. The refs were sucking for both sides but that's how the game goes. Fast paced action and they don't always have the right angle but have to make the calls. If you don't like them, then maybe you should be more involved.

for me its more a sharks issue than refs issue… you cant play the refs… see you next year 😛

Say what you want about Sydney. He's got a stanley cup, world IIHF gold medal, Olympic Gold medal, and league leading stats… and he's 22. He's a future hall of famer, whether you like it or not. And he could beat any of his haters up. lol

EDIT: I forgot to mention the memorial cup and the world junior awards and medals.

I'd hardly blame Nash for their playoff exit. I miss when Nash and Dirk Nowitzki were teammates as I am sadly a Dallas fan (from New York of all places.) Suck's my team always happens to be a top 3 team in the West but never gets deep in the playoffs. Looking forward to a good NBA game and this intrigues me.

@ Underdog… I don't have anything against Crosby's skill, but his attitude. When the Wings beat the pens 3-1 he threw a fit crosschecking Zetterberg from behind. Beat up his haters? Tell that to Howard's glove in his face 🙂 And his performance in the Olympics? Non existant. He hadnt scored in the previous three games to the last, and didnt do anything in that last game. as he said himself, "I just threw it at the net." it was a weak goal… just haaaad to be crosby with the winner 😛 Again, he is a good player, but not a leader. i dont like the kid's attitude is all.

Because a glove in the face?? A facewash? pfft. Pansies facewash people all the time. It's hardly a won fight. lol! Any dropped gloves fight he's been in he's won. And I definitely don't agree with you about him not being a leader. The Zetterberg cross-check was a bit much, but it wasn't exactly a hard cross-check. (although Zetterberg is no gentleman, either) Also, just because someone isn't statistically present, doesn't mean he isn't contributing from a leadership perspective. Ovechkin has tremendous stats, but just because he's loud doesn't mean he's a leader. He's undisciplined. Crosby consistently leads teams to high levels of victory. So say what you want about his attitude on the ice. That swagger is what seems to keep his team motivated. Off the ice, he's an incredibly modest interviewee. ALWAYS talks about how well his team did, always saying we and never I. You have to be cheeky once in a while.

Also, he "just threw it in the net"?? He's being modest. If you watched the whole play, none of it would have happened if he hadn't forced the play. Everything that led up to the game winning goal was because he fought for the puck against the opposing team push-over defense. He battled, won the puck, got a clean pass off, moved to open space, got it back, shot a relatively open shot at close range, and scored.

Anyways, I'm no Pittsburgh fan, but I get pretty sick of people trashing Crosby making up crapola about him like he's got a bad attitude. (You act like he's Sean Avery or something.) Thing is, he's passionate on the ice, which is obviously working for him. Off the ice, he's classy. That's exactly what you want from your captain. And complain away all you like, and you can pretend he's non-existent, but when it needs to get done, he pretty regularly gets it done.

People used to complain about Wayne Gretsky exactly the same way in his younger days, too, you know.

All I can say is he rarely gets it done against Detroit. Zetterberg has him shut down regularly. Thus, the regular frustration, and in this case crosschecking. How about lose with class? Not everyone can be Lidstrom I guess 😉

And the fights he's won? Case in point: Crosby AND Letang vs. Valabik. Letang punching the upper half of his body and Crosby trying to donkey punch his balls. What was that? Oh yeah, no penalty. Even the commentators were like "Call them cheap shots, what you will, but Crosby getting involved." Immunity? Haha. By the way, NO ONE can be Avery but Avery 😉 But, we should really do this in the forums where it belongs.

Too true Underdog. He was clutch in S.A. There was a big lack of intensity from the bigs, especially in Game 6. As for that Game 5 buzzer beater offensive rebound, mmm nothing was said how Artest only pushed/jumped on Richardsons back to get it in the first place. However, Richardson SHOULD have done a better job of boxing out instead of just standing there in lala land waiting for OT.

Oh well, its all a wash now.

Ya, if you don't box out and take possession of your position, refs typically won't help you out. Especially if it means they have to make a controversial call.

Exactly my thoughts, and the refs are not gonna make that call with 3.5 seconds left…..in L.A.

Well, with this new "hands on control" I hope I can take 5 steps, then jump in the air and travel a lot like Nash does. Or use my arms to push off people to get space like Kobe, or be Derric Fisher and flop harder than the Atari Jaguar whenever someone makes contact with me.

That does sound good,I hope they take add some more things in dynasty mode
1.ten day contracts. And they stay on the roster if you signed him to another 10 days.

2.the ability to hire and fire coaches and their staff.

3.NBDL the same way the AHL is used in Be the GM mode in NHL 10.

4.three way trades.

5.Bring back All-Star weekend: three point shoot out, easier dunk contest and skill competition.

6.Summer league with rookies and non drafted rookies, second year players and unsigned free agents.

7.Able to re-sign players during the season, so when the cap expand in the off-season that won't count towards the money you're going to use in that off season.

If NCAA basketball was still in the EA rotation I would say bring back the feature that allow you to export players from NCAA to NBA elite.

MEH, I only got into sports games when I was around 12. Now i'd rather just go outside and play ball. $60 bucks definately isn't worth it. If i get a sport game it should be no more than $20.

Been playing this since NBA Live 94 came out on the SNES. I'm just bored with this yearly iteration with no real improvements. I wish they would really overhaul the whole gameplay rather than making name changes is kinda trivial anyway.
