It seems like seven million years ago that we saw the teaser trailer for Beyond Good & Evil 2 and since then, we've heard next to nothing about its development.
Well, we've heard a whole lot of rumors about how the game was no longer in existence, that Ubisoft had already scratched the project and moved on to something else. This speculation returned a few days ago, when it was thought that Michael Ancel (creator of Rayman and said to be working on BG&E2) had left the company, thereby taking any hopes of an anxiously anticipated sequel with him. But Ubisoft has confirmed to Eurogamer that "there are no changes on the horizon" and that "yes," BG&E2 is indeed still in development. Perhaps this means we'll see more at E3; it's long past time that we get a glimpse of the game that debuted at Ubidays 2008, and while they're at it, maybe they could give us an update on I Am Alive . Whatever happened to that one? We're certain we'll see something on Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood at the show but Ubisoft has other potential gems in the hopper, and there are quite a few fans of the original BG&E out there… They've been waiting not so patiently.
If you're not familiar, it was one of the more well-received action/adventure games on the PS2 and it managed to generate a huge cult following. It's not revered with the big boys but Jade fans will defend her and her weird-lookin' buddies to the death.
Whew, dodged another bullet on this one. BG&E was one of those gems for the PS2 I found much later after its release. I do enjoy a good story, and it definitely had it, I am looking forward to more info on this.
i too was one that found this game long after its released and man was i hooked on it loved that game and can not wait for the new game to come out. here's hoping we see something @ e3 for this game
i hope this is true, we need more game like this this gen, rachet and Clank just is not cutting it for me.
I've been waiting for so long. I really hope this game is shown this E3. I would like to see some more footage.
That announcement just made my day. I love BGaE. It is one of the most fun platformers/action-adventures/photographer-simulators I've ever played.
The characters were created with so much love and detail (almost like Link/Zelda or Mario/Yoshi) I'd really like to see more. Ubisoft has some very talented minds working for them and BGaE was a prime example of their genius.
Heck, I'd even buy an HD remake of the original game ^^
Beyond Good & Evil is one of the only Ubisoft titles I've ever truly enjoyed. If they're bringing this world and its characters back, they're bringing me back, too.
Have it for Gamecube
Great game. Really unique too.
Sucks that the devs seem to have bleached Jade in the sequel though*
Seriously wtf?
she's blonde now?
World look at the pic. Her hair is OBVIOUSLY black lol. He's talking about her skin complexion.
This is good news. I played it on the original Xbox back in the day and loved it.
Yes im one of the hardcore BG&E defenders!
Whilst this is brilliant news, without Michael Ancel….i dunno. It just erases my excitement. It's like MGS with no Kojima.
Hmm.
I have it on my xbox, never finished it but I remember liking it.
This is one of the games from my own PS2 collection that I just listed over on the thread, "What PS2 games do you want to go HD on the PS3"
(along with a bunch from my PS1 collection that I'd love to see re-makes for too)

This is one of the games that was an impulse buy for me just because of the box art. Something about the art style spoke to me and i picked it up. The first game is in my top 20 PS2 games. Wonderful story and it was a joy taking pictures of the animals.
I'm hoping that the next game has the same voice actors and keeps the good story. We shall see.
I've had my eye on this for a little while… If i have any time I will definitely be picking it up this summer
mhmm, and so is i am alive 😉
when was the last time we heard of that?
