Ben-DutkaAlthough the music genre took a steep dive last year, that doesn't mean massive franchises like Guitar Hero have stopped entirely.
There just won't be as many rhythm-based titles this year, that's all. And the new Neversoft installment has been confirmed to be Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock , set to release for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Wii later this year. Retailers had outed the title earlier last week and then, Nintendo Power verified the news; Neversoft project lead Brian Bright has stated that Warriors of Rock "will return the emphasis of the series to rock and roll." Said Bright:
"All of the cool features and things we did in GH5–the level of polish–[are] still there. Party Play still exists. The ability to play with any instrument combination–all that stuff is still in the game. But what we strove do here is handpick all the songs…So many more people play Guitar Hero on guitar than any other instrument. We wanted to focus first and foremost on shredding kind of rock."
Furthermore, we learn that the game's story mode will be narrated by none other than Kiss frontman, Gene Simmons. As for that plot, it's supposedly going to revolve around "the Beast and the demigod of rock." Kinda like in Brutal Legend , the guitar is the source of all major power; you must assemble an army of warriors to help free the demigod and defeat the Beast. Well, okay. It's Guitar Hero so the chances of it crashing and burning are slim to none, anyway.

Kill this series already, and Gene Simmons. I'm tired of seeing his ugly wig on my TV all the time.
I like these music games. As a black man, they turned me on to all sorts of music I wouldn't have normally listened to. I'll give a new one a go or two.
I'm glad you like em, but I for one am tired of them milking the consumer by releasing one after another every year when a patch with more songs would be friendlier to the people who like it instead of paying top dollar.

I hope this "return" brings along an awesome setlist as well.
The should make a guitar hero just for metal; just solely metal. THAT I would love to buy.

It's getting to the point where I can't even buy this bargain bin fodder anymore.
I wish they would just release one game with as many songs from the past installments as they can possibly include. Just one HUGE game. I know it's not possible to have all the songs because of licensing issues, but most of them. I never bothered with 4 or 5, kinda wish they would give me a reason to pick up a new one.
For some reason I have Randy Marsh syndrome and as a guitar player I have never enjoyed these games. I did enjoy the drums a bit but never enough for me to be sold on buying them.
Too bad it's red octane and activi$ion running that $hit show. Not touching it with a ten foot pole.
I still say Air Guitar Hero for Natal is a great idea.
Wow, another one? Will they ever stop? We already have Guitar Hero, GHIII, GH World Tour, GH 5, DJ hero, Karioki hero, The arcade version of GH(GuitarFreak), the hand-held versions, Rock Band, the Beatles Rock Band, GH Metallica etc. There are enough knock offs to fill a page in word single spaced. World tour was fun I guess but really this whole concept has been overdone to and absolute extreme. Why are they still trying to get money out of this thing?
I guess I'm just getting board with a concept that has been done a thousand times in a thousand different ways. Yes it was a good idea that a lot of people liked and they made bank off it. However, it would be nice to see them putting some effort into something new. Really new I mean, not like another GH..
i really hope they go back to the style of GH3s tracklist, or even better the first 2.
there is not one song in GH1,2 or 3 that i dont like.
GH4 or 5 though different story, enough of this pop BS, enough of this michael jackson BS, enough of this bon jovi BS, put out some proper rock tracks for crying out loud!!!

Yeah I Understand You On That 1 Godslim, But If They Did Do That At The Current Price That It Is 2 Buy One Song, Then Its Going 2 Be More Expensive For Us 2 Buy.

A Guitar Hero with emphasis on rock? Ha! I'll believe it when I see the track listing. The last ones have been so horrible.
