Activision always hypes up every Call of Duty entry but this time, it's the developer doing the talking.
Treyarch, currently toiling away on Call of Duty: Black Ops , are 100% focused on delivering the "the best game they possibly can." Studio Boss Mark Lamia told GamerZines that Black Ops isn't "just a game," but potentially the "best entertainment experience of the year." We're most interested in his mention of the single-player campaign; Treyarch wants the experience to include a "really intense cinematic campaign" along with the expected "deep and robust multiplayer experience." And as for the aforementioned focus, Community manager Josh Olin said that right now, it's all about CoD:
"It was a conscious decision. Two years ago we created three games, and it was a deliberate choice to stop work on everything but Call of Duty. It has a lot of ramifications internally in terms of how we structure our studio, but the reason behind that is that I wanted to be able to give the team the opportunity to create the best game they possibly can.
It's exciting and we'll probably make ourselves miserable at the same time as there's a lot of scrutiny on everything we're doing, but every decision has a laser sharp focus from everybody; from the tester to the person creating it, to the team that's involved in implementing something, to myself – everybody is just focused on this game."
We have no doubt that Treyarch is a very capable developer, and we're really looking forward to a total experience that still gives us the fantastic multiplayer we've all come to expect, along with a satisfying single-player campaign. It can be tough to get the best of both worlds but if anybody can do it…

I've got higher hopes for these guys. If we're lucky, they'll feel the pressure of everyone's eyes being on them after the IW debacle. I had a lot of fun with CoD titles, but the glitchiness and oddities I talked about in my MW2 review really got to me.
I'm not too familiar with Treyarch, but it would be wonderful to see a polished and clean cut CoD title.
I'm glad that they are pouring all their effort into this title. "An intense cinematic campaign" is something I would very much like to see. If the multilayer is just as good or better than MW2 I will be very happy, I know I'll end up getting to the third prestige fairly quickly. Yes, I admit I'm a COD freak but I still get all my exclusives in so, no matter =)
Looking forward to Black Ops more and more, can't wait for video reviews and new tailors, hopefully including some cut scenes and game-play.
I just sold my MW2. Hope this one's worthy of purchasing AND keeping.
Funny, I sold my copy recently too.
Hey Treyarch; just like you were 100% focused on bringing out DLC for WaW BEFORE patching the many bugs that plagued the multiplayer?
Its the one reason I wont be touching anything by Treyarch in future, purely out of principle
Go Treyarch. We should give a chance to Treyarch…they made the CoD:WaW and it come out pretty good so I'm sure they gonna try their best in this game.
Was it me or was the Nazi Zombie mode the best part of World at War…..I thought it was….my friend and I still play the four levels of Nazi Zombies…it's a blast!
It was certainly one of the better aspects of the game, defiently a good multiplayer/having friends over to play split-screen kind of deal.
I've absolutely had it with the CoD franchise. I logged about 11.5 days in COD4 and it was a blast. COD Waw was pretty fun but WWII was played out by that point so I lost interest after a year or so. MW2 was fun for the first two or so months for me, then over time I realized how irritating online really had become, they took what COD4 was, (and in my opinion), ruined the online aspect (I did enjoy the single player aspect though), too many cheap perks made too many people better than their actual skill levels, too many aircraft kill streaks allowed at the same time etc… it just became more of a cluster F than it ever was before (and that is saying a lot considering how much a cluster F cod4 could become.). I'm rambling now, but in short, I don't have faith in the series anymore, so long as Activision is at the helm, the series will be milked into oblivion just like how EA used to treat the Medal of Honor series. Mark my words, COD will end with the Medal of Honor treatment by Activision and leave gamers groaning in a few years: "Ughh another Modern/future warfare FPS, gross."
Thumbs down from a CoD zealot, yeah yeah, I know all how that goes I used to be one.
You really felt the perks made people better than their skill level? I find it annoying to play with people who constantly get tooled by the same perks. If someone keeps killing you via the heartbeat sensor, instead of complaining about how they're a noob HB user, why the heck aren't you using Ninja to end their streak? Every perk is easy to counter with the right set-up, and anyone who has this figured out had better have a K/D over 1.00 (which isn't hard). Right now, the only thing that is really plaguing the online gaming aspect is the quick scope glitch, but those people who exploit that are rarely at the top of their teams anyways.
Similarly, if you're getting tooled by aircraft kill streaks, go cold-blooded or take out aircraft with rockets or light machine guns with stopping power pro.
You realize UAV's can be taken out easilly by one clip or less of pretty much any assault rifle?
Anyways, it certainly does have it's flaws, but one of them isn't the killstreaks and perks. Anyone with a decent sense of strategy can counter anything anyone throws at them, and their K/D should prove it. Also, you're right about the CoD franchise being milked for all it's worth.
@Natalisrubbish's second post
Yeah, you'll find most downvotes are backed up with no constructive response leaving you wondering what the heck the downvote was for. Look at Keo7's comment. Why'd he get a downvote? lol I upvoted him just to counter the downvote. He didn't say anything wrong, if you ask me.
EDIT: Same with CharlesD

@ underdog, Yes I realize all of that, I think I just grew tired of playing that type of FPS in general. In my opinion though, I just enjoyed the simpler days of COD4's multiplayer. That series just isn't hitting it home for me any more. I appreciate a thought out response though, that is what seems to be lacking in most video game forums/commenting sections. I have been reading Psxextreme news now for probably close to a year and a half but just became an actual member a few months back because of the level of maturity and intelligence displayed by the general populace here.
Ah, well welcome officially to the community, then! This place is typically a pretty great place for discussion, which is a wonderful refreshment from the norm. Also, I know what you mean about the franchise. Even if every title was spectacular and perfect, do you really want to spend that much money on one title over and over? I guess some do!
Commando Perk. That says it all. Annoying li'l prick…
What they should have done is scrap the engine they use for the CoD games, it obviously is full of bugs, glitches, and tweaks people manipulate so often it ruins the experience. A "clean" CoD title is physically impossible.
Yes Timster, Nazi Zombies was in fact amazingly fun. I threw you a thumbs up Natalisrubbish, I would hate to become part of the thumbs down nazi club.

scrap it :O but the gameplay is flawless!
Good luck to them, I'll play it at my codnut friend's house but I don't plan on spending any cashola on it.
If it's good maybe i'll get it… but COD is damaging my time from my other games. But having just finished GOW3 i really wanna play through my other games… so heres to infamous, fallout 3 (+DLC) Heavy rain, MGS4 (again) and Killzone2 (again)
I'll play mw2 every here and there…
Quite a good plan I'd say World.
Thanks NatalRubbish I thought so 🙂 Zorigo, I just got the Fallout 3 GOTY so I can't wait to get into those expansions as well, but RDR is hard to put down.
RDR and Fallout3 GOTY?
You're going to have a brilliant time my friend… You can really get involved in Fallout, and as for Red Dead, im borrowing it off from a mate once i've bought and completed brink. (we'll trade!)
Off-Topic:
What I'm waiting for is a nice Zombie game, L4D 1,2 does not cut it for me as a Zombie kill 'em game.
On-Topic:
But for Black-Ops, not sure i might get it, but i will do my research on it like i do all of my games. I don't like to rely on reviews, or opinions.
what do you rely on for your research then if not for reviews or opinions?
We do need some high quality zombie games for PS3. Hopefully Dead Rising 2 delivers.
I totally agree with you 100,000%
I remember read in some site that Agent was going to be a zombie game but in the end with L4D,RE and Dead Rising coming R* opted for other concept.. it would be sooo awesome a R* zombie game *.*!

Off-topic sort of:
Ben, if you happen to come browsing through the comments, at some point last night a series of articles that were posted (it was pretty late as I recall, 11pm-12ish am or so), one of them was an article about how some game company CEO was saying games were costing consumers too much money and how he wanted to start using DLC to lower the initial cost of games for consumers, or something along those lines. I remember being the first to comment on it then all of the stories disappeared?
@phudge-Supreemz
They're are other ways of doing research on the game besides looking at what people think of the game, you can't really rely on them because they could be biased towards the game or didn't like the genre to begin with.
But i watch a lot of videos of what the game play looks like. And look up what features are in the game and etc. That's how i do it, i don't rely on what people say about the game because you could really love the game but uphold his opinions as gold. But then try it and loved every minute of the game.

That's racist, Treyarch. The game prefers to be called African-American Ops.
Hahaha.
And I'm 100% sure that I'm not gonna buy their crap.

its great Oxvial because no one asked you if you were.
it was a post for the lulz but you always got butthurted so easy…not my fault bro.
Last edited by Oxvial on 5/28/2010 8:12:05 PM
Yeah Booze really does get butthurt everytime CoD gets even remotely talked negatively about. I have seen that multiple times now.
maybe this game will put call of duty back on track.
"best entertainment experience of the year"…an xbox game can deliver anyway… hey oxvial will you be buying it???
I wish I could buy all the copys and burn them….but one copy nope ;).
if u hate cod so much y do insist on always commenting on news about it……yeh we get it u hate cod big woop!
Have a great Memorial Day Weekend everyone!!
I just want an FPS that I know has a decent campaign mode. I'm not a multiplayer person, my skill will never match many who are online, no matter how hard I practice. So fingers crossed this has what I want and if not then well maybe someone else will develop something.
Try Resistance:Fall of Man and Resistance 2, they've got good campaigns, and they're worth replaying several times.
hey thanks I'll definitely look them up.
best entertainment of the year????
ahh yous do realize GOW3, heavy rain, splinter cell conviction, alan wake have all come out and crysis 2, mafia 2, GT5, ape escape ps3, socom 4 ect ect are coming out this year right?
me thinks either these guys are delusional, or they believe its still 1926 or maybe both.
eh, ill believe it when i see it!!!!!!!!!!!!!
this game will be another ….expansion ..sold to us for 60 bucks lmaooo man …prolly will skip dis …and just play mw2 until killzone 3 comes out …yea i think i'll do that
