NBA Live Renamed As NBA Elite

NBA Live has been around for no less than 16 years but EA thinks it's time to shake things up.

According to the latest issue of the Official Xbox Magazine as noted by 1Up , EA plans to change the name of their long-running basketball franchise. Instead of "NBA Live," it seems they'll be going with "NBA Elite" from here on out. Live debuted back in 1994 as NBA Live 95 , which at the time replaced NBA Showdown and The NBA Playoffs , so perhaps another name change has been long overdue. As to the new entry, it will apparently "expand on the use of the right analog stick, allowing players to use it in place of a player's hands." EA also wants to remove canned animations in favor of real-time physics, so perhaps both upgrades will prove beneficial to fans of the series. And in all honesty, the franchise really hasn't delivered the AAA simulation experiences we've hoped for, so perhaps a simple name change and a few advancements and alterations will restore the series to its former glory.  One can always hope, at any rate.

So, as it should be called, NBA Elite (which may or may not come with a year attached to the title) will be out this fall.
