Hey, remember Wild Arms ? It was one of the first great RPGs on the original PlayStation and although it admittedly went downhill after that, we figure the latest developer of the series, Media Vision, might have something cool brewing…
According to Andriasang citing a job listing from Japanese site Tenshoku EX, the developer has some "major projects" in the works. One of the job listings says the team has started work for a PS3/PSP project, and the other – for a game planner – states the following:
"This company has worked on the Wild Arms series, one of the RPGs that is representative of Japan. This time, we're trying out production of a new title for PSP and PS3. We'd like to make it into a title in which we can take pride, one that appeals to users not just in Japan, but around the world as well."
Lastly, they add that whatever the mystery game is, it isn't a "light game" and it's a "massive project that will span a long term." Okay, well, that sort of sounds like an epic RPG, doesn't it? We don't want to jump to any conclusions and we kinda wanted to see another Wild Arms effort, but we'll wait and see what this new original IP might be. The RPGs have really started to flow this generation and although we've already seen quite a few gems, we could always use more in the way of time-consuming, level-grinding goodness.
The last great Wild Arms was 3. It's been a disappointment since. Hopefully this new effort impresses.

Sounds great! An epic RPG from Japan tailor made for the Playstation audience? Sounds almost like the old days. I'll be watching these guys.
Really? A thumbs down for that?
There be Xbots lurking around here…
Don't worry dude, I thumbed you up.
I would have to agree I loved the days of yore when JRPG's had an emphasis on the J. I loved Wild Arms series, and Breath of Fire series, and Grandia, more of those sorts of experiences made for PS3 would be a welcome sight.
I'd pee myself if it was Grandia IV, but that has never been a massive series. I would sh*t myself if it was Suikoden VI.
wild arms. i vaguely remember that one but i may have it confused with something else. either way i'm sure it was fun.
EDIT: ohh wait isn't that the one with the knight who looks like a Steiner (FFIX) clone? i liked that game but i never finished.

WA1 is one of the best PS1 RPGs of all time. WA5 wasn't to bad, much better then 4. But I wish they go back to the battle system of 1-3. That is if they ever make a WA6.
This sounds like a new IP, hopefully a RPG. Will be looking forward to more info on this.
Is it an MMORPG? Honestly, that's what it sounds like.
let's hope not.
WA1 and 2 were two of my favorite games on PS1. I didn't play 3-5, so I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt and just hope there's a true rpg on their minds as they make this one…
I agree with Alienage it's an MMORPG. I get that feeling too.
I can't wait to see what Media.Vision has for us.
I loved Wild Arms so much and I think they could do so much more on the PS3.
mmmmmmmm, interesting i just ask that they keep it traditional and not try and change it to catch western audiences ala FFXIII.
were getting a flood of RPGs latley, theres a flood of shooters as usual, heaps of racers, so maybe its time for platformers to come back in and take their rightful spot on the top of the pyramid?
i really miss the old days on ps1 and even ps2, we use to have a platformer every month but the last platformer that came out was R&C ACIT freaking 7 months ago!!!!!
who do i have to kill to get some decent platformers out there?
Well, I just hope they really mean what they say.
"We'd like to make it into a title in which we can take pride, one that appeals to users not just in Japan, but around the world as well."
Hopefully that means a great Japanese RPG that can be enjoyed by westerners as a Japanese game, rather than being a westernized JRPG.
i hope so too, if every japanese developer starts getting desperate too please the western audience i'll have to stick to classics
I also would very much like a new Gunners Heaven/Rapid Reload.
i want wild arms 6, but any new good jrpg is welcome
if it's a new IP i hope it's epic =)
Sounds very cool, but I have a hard time imagining a truly epic RPG that will also be on the PSP. Oh well, we'll see what they come up with I guess.
Definitely want to see what they are working on, I grew up playing Wild Arms 1&2, Xenogears, and Breathe of Fire titles. Bring on the nostalgia!
Seriously SPAM Bot, if you don't stop with this I'll have Chuck Norris round-house kick you in the face. You don't want to mess with a dude that has super rugged shoulder hair. The only thing I want to miss is your crap deals on rubbish!

Interested in a game which will admittedly take a long time to develop but for the simple reason of making it awesome. I'd like to see their final product, let's hope it's worth the amount of time and effort they claim they will put into it.
PS3 does need more JRPG. I welcome this news 😀
