Konami Wraps Voice Acting Recording For Lords Of Shadow

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow is slated to release this fall and now, it appears we're one step closer to cementing that date.

David Cox just told everyone at his Twitter page that voice recordings for the game are "now complete." Now, in case you weren't already aware, Konami and MercurySteam are addressing the fact that past entries in the series haven't exactly provided us with top-notch voice acting. The voice cast for Lords of Shadow is indeed impressive; the most important roles will be filled by Robert Carlyle (Gabriel), Natascha McElhone (Marie), Jason Isaacs (not sure yet, but he's there), and oh yes, let's not forget Sir Patrick Stewart as both Zobek the Mentor and the Narrator. Combined with a new score by composer Óscar Araujo, this is one production that should shine when it comes to presentation and sound. We really want to see more gameplay – fall isn't that far off, you know – but we're certainly hoping to see some footage at E3 next month. In the meantime, we'll just be happy that voice acting has really spiked in quality this generation; it has become a supremely important facet of the interactive experience.

Could we be looking at the first AAA 3D Castlevania ? Heck, why not? We've waited long enough by now, haven't we?

I loved the old school 2d versions but not the 3d one they tried on PS2 as much so hopefully this one is better.

I wonder how they're gonna pull off 2D Castlevania's epicly large levels in 3D. They'd have to make it not uni-directional too, i.e. you can go to previous areas anytime during the game.

I'm sure with Kojima there helping to oversee everything, the Castlevania will be 1 hell of a jaw dropper.

Just like everything else his name's been associated with.

He's definitely the "ace up the sleeve" for this project.

Konami and gamers need this to be good. Konami can't just be satisfied living off of MGS and dancing/karaoke games……and gamers want to see a console version of Castlevania properly updated out of the 80's.

I for one liked Castlevania Cursor of Darkness for what it was. Sure, it wasn't the good ol' classic 2D, nor anywhere near touching Symphany, but the whole creature/demon creating feature was a cool change of pace. It was neat to experiement and see what creature you could get next. I am still leary on this one as we all know how that craphole of came for the gamecube was when it went 3D.

I liked Curse of Darkness too, I actually beat that game whereas I had to give up on Lament of Innocence.

I might alone on this, but whenever I can, I usually prefer having original Japanese voices with Japanese games, and just read the subtitles.

Well, id rather have the the Japanese voices if the voice acting doesn't have redone English voices or it's badly dubbed. "Bring us up the bomb"…

Ne way, I loved the original Castlevania I hope they can pull off an in depth 3D version.

Unless it somehow sucks (and I don't think that will happen this time round) I definitely wanna get this game. Castlevania has been a favorite since the NES and it does need a shot in the arm. Let's hope it doesn't fall prey to the "God of War clone" syndrome.

I prefer to listen to my games and not read them so the voice acting is important. Might be strange to hear McElhone in the game, I'm used to her part in Californication. Anybody else watch that show?

That certainly is a good voice cast. Couple some quality writing and some great adventure/action and I'm willing to jump in… even without the focus on whips.

I'll miss the whip.

"Combined with a new score by composer Óscar Araujo"

Hopefully Michiru Yamane is still doing some of the music. The soundtracks for every Castlevania game since SOTN have been AAA even if the games were not.

If Kojima fails at make a good 3D Castlevania, they should just give up and stay 2 and 2.5D

I'm usually a purist when it comes to dubs, but the voicework on this is just TOO GOOD to pass up, the cast assembled is the best EVER for a game. Such an amazing cast of actors, it'd be great for a film, let alone a game.
