Shaun White may be best known for snowboarding but he now wants to make a name for himself in a similar venue: skateboarding.
Today, Ubisoft has announced new details for Shaun White Skateboarding , which is scheduled to launch this fall for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii and PC. The game allows fans of the sport to "transform a dull, lifeless city into their own extraordinary skating playground." More info will be unveiled at E3 but for now, we know that as we grind and flip our way through the aforementioned city, everything comes to life and new areas become available. This creates better skate lines and there's a fair amount of player customization, too; empty fountains to create bowls, morph streets into ramps, twist handrails to crazy heights, etc. The more you create, the more points you will receive, which can be used to nab new skateboarding gear. There will be over 80 skate tricks "hand-picked by Shaun" and of course, it'll feature online and offline competitive multiplayer. Said Nick Harper, the game's Creative Director:
"When we started making the game, we knew we wanted to give players a sense of how skaters see the world; everything is an opportunity. What looks like a handrail to us is really a grind. A park bench is a place to trick, an alley is a quarter pipe, etc. We've taken that idea and expanded it. We wanted to put our own twist on the genre and craft the type of game that allows players to be creative and still have a lot of fun."
Could this be stiff competition for the likes of EA's Skate and Activision's Tony Hawk Skateboarding ? We'll have to wait and see but in the meantime, feel free to check out the debut trailer .

Uh, what?
So, let me get this straight.
EA's answer to Tony Hawk's Pro Skater was Skate, and now Ubisoft's answer is Shaun White Skateboarding..
Okay… What's next? Tony Hawk's Surfing?
Naw, it's that SE big announcement we heard about today. It's not exactly a full FFVII remake… but it is partly! It's actually just a remake of Cloud Strife's Snowboarding. It will come with fully customizable Icicle Inn equips, racing with fire and ice materia's to cast spells on your opponents as you race to the bottom, and PSN leaderboard time trials complete with green, blue, and red balloons!
NOTE: This post has not been confirmed by SE, nor has it been mentioned on twitter. Look for a big announcement before the next E3! (They're referring to THIS years E3, right?)

ok, never expected to see that title.
Probably since all I know Shaun White for is snowboarding and having red hair…

Ubisoft is going to have to come up BIG if they think they have something that will compete with the Skate series. Especially, Skate 3. That game is freakin' awesome.
I'll probably try this out a couple months after it releases since it will drop to 24.99 by then.
Just to clarify to those who don't know, Shaun White is an extremely good skater on top of being one of the best snowboarders. I'm no fan of his, but I give him credit for landing a 1080 on a skateboard.
Now, about this game. Let's just hope it doesn't play anything like Shaun White Snowboarding. That way it could actually be good.
I have an idea that Shaun White has enough money and influence to say, "Hey, I really want my own skateboarding game" and then make it happen. He is amazing on a board yes, but his specialties are certainly on the slopes. I can't help but thinking this is just play time for him. Therefore, not convinced the game will be worth the cash.
Oh no thanks Ubisoft. You burned me good with the snowboarding game so I'm not about to give you money for another Shaun White catastrophe. I'll get Skate 3 when the time is right.
Yeah, SWS was pretty loose on those controls. I got the Target Edition for $9 so it wasn't too bad for that price. You need to get Skate 3. Now.
Shaun White is fugly.
oh dear lord ubisoft have you not sucked enough milk out of the cow yet?
ubisoft have gone from one of my favorite developers, to my most hated there worse than moneyvision!
