If you're feeling a little overwhelmed by the size and scope of Red Dead Redemption , you might be considering a strategy guide purchase.
But why waste the $20 when you have the Internet at your disposal? In addition to places like GameFaqs, Battlestrats should be a definite bookmark for those of you who wish to attain 100% completion in Rockstar's latest gem. They've already assembled a complete strategy guide – that remains free, by the way – and it will continue to grow with hints, tips and advice. There are a great many things that need doing in the Wild West, especially if you wish to complete the whole damn thing. It won't be easy and it'll definitely take a large chunk of time, but if you'd rather have a little help than spend a lot of extra time wandering aimlessly, you should check this out. It's not "cheating," per se. It's merely ensuring that you don't miss something crucial; that you don't advance the plot before finishing everything there is to finish. It could be tricky to grab 100% completion in RDR, just as it was in GTAIV; there's just so much to do and consequently, there's a lot you can miss.
Red Dead Redemption is one of the year's best, plain and simple. The level of immersion is so high, more than a few gamers might embrace the "completionist" mentality.

i bought rdr and ufc undisputed 2010 at midnight and still havent gotten to even open the seal on rdr yet! but im very excited to do so! good to know that theres a free guide out there!
I rarely buy guides, but I see their appeal. It's more convenient to have a book next to you, as opposed to running back and forth to the computer. I guess I could always put my laptop in front of me on my coffee table,….but then where would I put my extra-large pizza, Cheetos and Jolt Cola?
Nice site….and bookmarked.
ill use the guide after I have beaten the game itself to get the extra stuff + trophies.
Nice, money saved is always nice. Brady Games guides are rather cheap anyway. Bindings always fall apart. Been looking for hard cover version from Prima, so far it's a no go. This will do.
Here's a pretty good site too: http://reddead.wikia.com/wiki/Portal:Red_Dead_Redemption
You guys are something else. Before my post got approved I saw a lot of spam posts advertising some sh*t. Must be a lot of those you handle on a daily basis.
I've never noticed spam as a problem on this site. Maybe you were on 1up? lol.
nah. always here, 10% of the time at wiki. you never see spam coz these guys do a hermes and zip-erase it :p
And there's always Wiki. I love Wiki.
ditto 🙂
Thanks for posting this, Ben. Haven't picked up my RDR yet, but I will, and this guide has been bookmarked for Trophy-hunting.
I know this might not be the right place to post this, but anyone getting problems with poker and arm wrestling in the PS3 version of the game?
Nope, no problems here with poker or arm wrestling. Off subject. In Thieves Landing, I like to push people off the docks into the water after picking a fist fight with them.

i always go to ign they always have online guides
Yet another day of no RDR, yeah, I didn't get it today, again, it moved to tomorrow(wednesday) and this time it will surely come -_-
That's what I get for getting a discount and a special edition… 5 days no Red Dead Redemption.
And I probably can't even touch it tomorrow, seeing as I have two exams thursday, so that will be study, study and study some more…
sarcasm hooray /sarcasm
thats cool i'll have to let my friend know who picked the game up.
Cool, this is the second Western genre game I know of that did this.
Call Of Juarez: Bound in Blood had also offered a free downloadable strategy guide too.
I wanna figure out stuff on my own, however I never do figure it all out 🙂
Guide is pretty helpful, well the wiki one is, i have to check this one out. That first treasure map is a bit confusing to a lot of people at first

Will battle-strats continue to do free guides? I hardly ever use them but Red Dead is a game I may get the completionist mentality with, so I may end up using this more than I think.
It has been bookmarked, just in case.
And yes, wiki is awesome 🙂

Speakin of rdr, is anyone having connection problems? Also everytime i try to connect with a friend either he or i gets disconnected.. Just wondering if its just us or a common problem. Thanks
Waaaait a second. Is this another one of Arnold's new sites? He's The Red Dragon isn't he! Or maybe he's DeathDealer … he's gotta be one of them because he can't possibly be Bobiwan86.
huh every game gets this treatment.
i really need one for alpha protocol the computer hacks are DRIVING ME INSANE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
they give you 2 words in a jumble puzzle you have to find the 2 words in the moving puzzle, its not hard enough that they dont give you enough time, but you have a even shorter time limit and if that goes the words move spots.
every single time i find the word, by the time i move my cursor above it to select it the timer ends and it moves.
GGGGGGGGGGGGRRRRRRRRRRRRAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!
why do developers have to make things so fu*king frustrating?
i thought games were suppose to be fun, not stressful to the point ive lost all my hair!
guides are for nubs
