The Internet has gone Killzone 3 -crazy after first discovering those screenshots . Thing is, if one magazine is running a huge feature, that means others are, too.
And if you need to do some catching up and would rather not click a dozen different links, just visit this brief rundown in the GameSpot forums (and if you still want to visit all the links, they're pasted in below the post). First of all, there's some sort of comparison to the movie, "Inglorious Basterds," which doesn't make much sense to us but…okay. Then, based on the gathered info floating about from those various incoming articles, we learn several other interesting tidbits: jet packs are included and you will have direct control over them (as evidenced by a few of those screens, too), the Helghast culture will be brought to the forefront, the combat is mostly unchanged from KZ2 but will allow you to unload "a string of different (and often brutal) attacks on stunned enemies," a new weapon called the Wasp sounds like a futuristic rocket launcher, the size and scope of the game should be larger, and oh yes, 3D will definitely be an option. They're calling it a "Game Changer" and of course, you must have the 3D-compatible TV and the requisite glasses…but can you imagine plying a game like Killzone 3 in 3D? That just has to be totally insane.
We're also very interested in this enhanced focus on the Helghast, a group that really wasn't brought into the limelight in KZ2. The added diversity of levels is another highlight, so bring on the unveiling at E3!

Jetpack?
I smell Reach…..
Except what ever Guerrilla does will likely be ten times better then Reach.
Tribes had it b4 so did warhawk. Also killzone liberation had them so…yeah.
Can't forget Star Wars, thier games usually always have jetpacks
And San Andreas…
Yep, there were jetpacks in Tribes, San Andreas, and Warhawk.
So, of course, Halo and M$ft did it first. Just like M$ft thought up the idea of using a camera for motion controls with Natal… but wait… the Ps2 EyeToy and the PS3 Eye came first.
Add in the fact that Guerilla has been developing K3 for a couple of years now; so I'm sure they quickly added the jetpacks in the past few weeks when they saw the public beta of Reach, which has only been in effect for the past few weeks.
Suuuuureeee!
Oh, but wait⦠Magazines normally have a two- to three-month lead time before the magazine hits the newsstand.
This just happens to be one of those freaky things where the developers just thought to add the same thing to their games at the same time.
It happens all the time in Hollywood:
Tombstone/Wyatt Earp
Deep Impact/Armageddon
Paul Blart: Mall Cop/Observe And Report
All similar movies that released around the same time (months) of each other.
It just happens.
Jet packs have been around since 1996 Duke Nukem 3D 🙂

Eh. They're just ripping off LBP.
Multiplayer 3D????yeah?
I want to play AS a Helghast, dammit.
And shoot rico in the head with a sniper rifle or do an interrogation where we wash his mouth out with soap…
Can't wait. If the rumor about Naughty Dog helping them improve their graphics engine is true, this is going to be one beautiful title that could out do KZ2. Some of the screens that have popped up look like they got some Uncharted 2 engine treatment.

Definitely pumped, though I hope the controls are bit more responsive. I appreciate what they were going for in KZ2, I would just like to have the option to have tighter, more conventional style controls.
I may be alone on this one, but I still think killzone 2 have the best graphics. Has anyone played the single player in a while? At some points it just seems too good.
The game is jaw dropping but i don't doubt for a second Guerilla can't get more juice out of the PS3 especially with Naughty Dogs help.
Of course they could get more out, and I think they will. I really can't wait for 3.
Regarding the 3D movement, Sony should get some PS3s in the arcades so more people can try it out. Why don't arcades have game consoles, anyway?
…oh and regarding KZ3. Yup, D1P n'all that. Little too early to be getting too excited though.
Arcades are dead in the "West"
I did not know that, Scarecrow. All the more reason to put some PS3s in 'em.
RIP arcades, we had some good times back in the day when consoles were the weaker option.
Well yeah… but you can't put a Pool Table on your PS3. There is, however, a pretty good Pinball game on PSN – Zen Pinball 🙂
Just thought of another. You can't put an Air Hockey table on your 360, but your 360 may last longer on an Air Hockey table. Don't mind me, I'm drinking a bit.
Hustle Kings is a pretty good option for ps3 pooling ;D
lets hope this have an edge over GOW 3's visuals like GOW 3 over Uncharted 2.got to love your exclusives.
Yawn…Just another shooter. All game makers should just STOP making shooters for a year then i will be excited again. i have not brought a shooter since '08 Call of Duty World At War. shooters are a waste of time and money.
One difference, KZ2 was actually worth the time and money. KZ3 will not dissapoint.
"i have not brought a shooter since '08 Call of Duty World At War"
Where did you bring it?
Shooters are a waste of time? One of the most popular gaming formats ever is a waste of time? Buddy, you don't like it you don't play it. How does it waste your time?
Go back to being boring. The rest of us are playing games.
I'm excited for KZ3, can't wait that's for dam sure.
*drools* somebody give me a napkin!
Awesome, KZ3 sounds like it'll improve on everything.
*nudge more responsive controls please*
Bring it on!
Yeah, the huge news is that Evan Wells of Naughty Dog, indicated he and his team were working with Guerilla to enhance the engine for KZ3. That's effin fantastic news. A Naughty Dog/Guerilla collaboration can be nothing but positive.
I love how Sony's devs are so friendly with each other. Each company, seems to act as a part of a bigger whole…moreso than I really see/hear in any other similar situation. Everyone profits when devs play nice with each other.
They are like the pieces of Voltron.
I'm glad the developers at Sony are helping each other a lot of good things will come out of it and a stronger bond goes a long way.
Clamedeus,
The same was done when Guerrilla ran into trouble about 2/3's of the way in, on working with the PS3 for KZ2.
Sony sent G. one of their own specialized PS3 help-teams help team in, plus, another 2 or 3 other developers also stepped up to lend G. a helpful hand too.
KZ2's campaign and MP were both awesome….I can see nothing but great things coming from KZ3.
Inglorious Basterds makes some sense since the Helghast are clearly space Nazis.
LBP2 revealed before E3, and now KZ3 has been revealed as well.
Either Sony have a lot more games for E3 or they're gonna spend a lot of time demonstrating Move which I hope not.
KZ2 was good. I expect KZ3 to be better. And maybe it's an un-necessary concern of mine, but I hope any design decisions aren't affected by the inclusion of 3D viewing.
Game design-wise, if they simply do away with CoD-style infinite re-spawning that were found in a few but significant moments in KZ2, I should be happy with it. And please Guerilla, make beating the final chamber on the Elite setting more tolerable. I made my way to the last throne room after having traversed every level prior to it. Including that wretched re-spawn train level spot. All to give up in utter frustration of how challenging and, not to mention dumb my AI partner was at the end moments of the game… 'nuff said.
I havent beaten the first two but played the second when my brother had it, shame on me. I guese it's about time to pick them up and play em' so I'll be ready for "The best game ever" maybe… kinda soon but from what I've herd about the second plus this one has to be better. this game is going to be one of "The best games ever" plus the 3D and the jet pack. I'm sold already.
Now where do I sign?

I hope it has a better story than Killzone 2.
there going to need a sh*t load more than a bigger scope and 3D to make KZ3 a good game!
i hope they open up the game, make it more like BFBC where you can go and destroy anything you want.
make it strategic.
say your outnumbered by enemies, instead of popping them off one by one, lure them under a strut shoot the strut and the roof collapses.
something like that, or blow up a bridge so enemies cant get heavy artillery over to attack you.
anything different, im sick of this take cover, pop, shoot, take cover, pop, shoot, dodge grenade, take cover, pop, shoot molakia bull sh*t!!!
we need something to change up the gameplay, to make the player think, keep the player on his toes.
o, and again really open up the level design.
i remember i was playing the opening level where you first fight the tanks on elite and was having allot of trouble, than i found this closed off area that lets you sneak past the higs.
sneak past them, and theres like 20 of them just standing there with their backs to ya.
they need to have more levels like that for us, force the player to keep rethinking his strategy instead of running in like rambo, or pussyfooting hiding behind cement the whole game!
@________:
This is the first time I actually see you posting something COHERENT…
I agree with you, it could be done like in the first Resistance where Hale blows up the Thames River but this time ACTUALLY playing it this time…

This is the first game that really makes me wish I had a 3D TV.
All sounds good to me but i am surprised you didn't mention that the people at Naughty Dog are also helping out a little on this game 😉
