John-ShepardRed Dead Redemption has impressed critics and gamers alike, and so it isn't a huge shock to hear that it's flying off store shelves.
Although the game only launched this past Tuesday, it released to over 450,000 pre-orders and according to VGChartz , the "preliminary data" points towards a total of 550,000 units sold in the Americas on day one. Some analysts have been a little conservative in their estimates, primarily because Western-themed video games have never sold very well in the past. …but then again, none of them have been even close to RDR in terms of overall quality and level of immersion. Furthermore, the game will release in Europe today, which means that total worldwide sales for the first week should come in around 1.2 or 1.3 million copies. This definitely flies in the face of some predictions that said the game wouldn't sell more than 2 million copies all told; at this rate, it'll break that number in a very short span of time. It may not sell quite as well as a Grand Theft Auto (even though RDR could accurately be described as GTAIV in the Old West), but that's only due to a lack of name recognition. The great word-of-mouth and high review scores should allow the title to be a blockbuster.
Well, it kinda already is. While May is a competitive month, we don't see much in the way of must-haves for the summer so by all means, give yourself a treat and pick up Red Dead Redemption . You won't regret it.

It was misleading to hear people say this is a bad port from XBox. As this game looks very impressive on the PS3, much better than many good HD console games out there.
No kidding. You can't believe all the nonsense spewed out by wannabe video game "scientists".
Besides that, the PS3 version even had a few extras thrown in.

I am not a fan of Rockstar approach to the PS3 there games tend to look murkier but I hope this game doesn't look like GTA but iI do hope it play (gameplay and story) like GTA

Glad to be one of those preorders but Amazon shipping is sure taking their sweet time. In a way I'm kind of glad there isn't much coming this summer because I've already got a lot on my plate and a lot less in my bank account.
I preordered mine from Amazon but I picked release date shipping for $1 more and got it on Tuesday.
Cost me $65 total but got that $20 gift card coming plus the gold gun code, what a great deal.
Oh yeah, fantastic game by the way, great music and poker is a great way to lose track of time.

I preordered mine from Amazon, was one of the lucky ones where it's shipped within 2 hours of drive. I got mine, free shipping in 2 days. It's more like the wait to process. By process, I mean when Amazon feel like shipping the order rather than the actual shipping speed.

How did you get the gold gun code? I thought you got that in the game.
Golden Guns if you preordered it from Amazon. They email you a code.
Should I have gotten my Golden Guns code by now? They said they shipped the game.
They emailed me mine before they shipped the game. I think TES said he got his code inside the box. Maybe yours is in the box.

Mine was in the box. A slip where you have to punch in the code in the game and not in the playstation store. Which means the guns exist in the game, just waiting for you to unlock.
Not sure how to redeem the $20 back. Its a credit towards our next purchase. I asked Amazon how to redeem it but they just sent me to the Help page which wasn't helpful.

This is great news for R* and doesn't suprise me at all. My friend went to get it and alot of places are sold out. i told him he should of preordered it but he wasn't sure if it was going to be a hit or not since he rarely saw alot of info on the game.
Me I mighht just have to pick it up with my Gcard.

This game actually has lots of mini games. Exactly what I am looking for. Gta got like 5 mini games. After playing 3 hours, I can say this game truly excels in mini games and graphics.

Yeah I enjoy the mini games too. I did a challenge when someone said I couldnt shoot down 4 birds within a certain time,I did, then after that some coyotes start attacking me and the man ran over and shot both of them,I was suprise as hell when that happened.
I can't find the game anywhere!-everywhere i go its sold out grrrr.I want to play it already!
Make a good game = people will like it = profit for game developers, What a concept!
Or make another movie licensed product to try and get the quick buck $$$.

anyway, im starting to think this ones actually pulled through, and really shining!!!
ill keep my optimism down till i play it tomorrow because R* have done nothing than disappoint me this gen.

Game is Awesome. I got a rockstar developer this morning!!! I got the "Read Dead Rockstar" Trophy. I'm totally psyched!!! LOL. He wanted to kick me cuz i was talking mad crap for a second. I really didnt mean to offend anyone. LOL. i was just so surprised that i had done it. I just read about that trophy yesterday on here. And BAM!!! Got 'em. I did apologize and he didn't kick me. Just got it today. It really nails the 'living, breathing world' aspect they were hyping. The wildlife system is incredible.
@godsman only game i can think of the top of my head that showed sucky coversion was bayonetta everything else multi plat been awesome on ps3:)
