Uncharted 2: Among Thieves is undoubtedly a "measuring-stick game," in that developers for future projects will aim for that level of quality.
Said designers will also drop in the name of Naughty Dog's impressive achievement in order to gain attention for their particular title. Enter Visceral, the team currently working on Dead Space 2 ; the game's executive producer, Steve Papoutsis, recently spoke to Edge about the technical aspects. He's pretty confident that gamers will be "blown away" by the super high production values in this hotly anticipated sequel, and he makes no bones about it: Uncharted 2 is fantastic, and EA is well aware of the amount of time and effort required to produce something equally amazing. Said Papoutsis:
"Uncharted is a beautiful, completely awesome game. I think it [Dead Space 2] is going to stack up very favourably. We were very proud of what we accomplished on the first game. Obviously we go back to it quite often to look at what we did and when we compare the two, the advancements the team has been able to make from a visual perspective are unbelievable. It really looks phenomenal and it's a major step up from the previous game visually.
The art team has done an amazing job, along with the engineers and everyone else that's contributing to creating the game and the engine, which we've continued to evolve and modify. They've really stepped their game up and I think people are going to be blown away by what they've been able to achieve."
That sounds very encouraging, and don't be so quick to dismiss his comments. As the years pass, the technology continues to get better, and developers continue to find new ways to take advantage of the available hardware. Of course, Naughty Dog has often said Uncharted 2 simply wouldn't work on the Xbox 360 and Dead Space 2 will have to, so… But either way, we can't wait to see Dead Space 2 , which is slated to freak us all out in the first quarter next year.

See I disagree. I think Mass Effect looks great and I don't need my eyes checked or a better TV. (Not trying to boast because I don't care about having better material items than others) I've got one of the nicest LCD HDTV's on the market in my Samsung. Maybe my standards aren't as high as yours. I started gaming long ago when graphics really didn't matter on consoles. It was more about game play. I'm happy with good graphics and good story. I will play a game with crap graphics, but I won't play a game with a crap story. Sure Uncharted was a pretty game, but it's likely Crysis 2 on PC is going to crush it if it can live up to the hype and your rig can handle it. But that is PC so I don't know if it should count. And who knows we don't know what's coming on the horizon.
What did you think was glitchy about Mass Effect 2? I had a pretty smooth run through on all plays. Uncharted 2 is not without it's issues either. They're video games. They're never going to be perfect. Also I have to disagree again. I didn't like the mining at first until I got the upgrade and found a much faster way to scan a whole planet and get all major resources. I had enough materials for upgrades fast. For me personally video games as a whole are stale anyway. Everything looks and plays the same now a days. Only because I've pretty much played every major console games since these system inceptions. And quite a few of the good minor ones as well. Even games like Uncharted are boring because they're just another shooter. In Mass Effect once you do the story it's over.
@Highlander
I know that, but your statement in inaccurate. From what I've seen most games on consoles run at sub-hd. PS3 or Xbox. The Xbox can scale graphics and the PS3 can't from what I've heard. Especially if they're multi-plat they usually run at the same level. Honestly I shouldn't have even said anything because I've come to the realization that I don't care what PS3 and Xbox render there graphics at. And I don't care to nitpick as long as the games look good. If it looks good and plays well I'm happy to give it a try. Even if it doesn't I give games a go. I still play the older games quite often. Especially Mega Man. It comes down to this console war crap and who is better. I'm going to say it once more. Why care which one is better when if you have the resources play them all? They all have great offerings. If developers are making good games why not give them a go?

For as much as you like to talk you sure don't know much.
Most Xbox exclusives are NOT 720p native. Most PS3 exclusives are.
AND the PS3 can and does upscale.
Uncharted 2 native 720p can be upscaled to 1080p
MGS4 automatically upscales to 1080p, Killzone 2 native res 720p can be upscaled to 1080i. Same with God of War III just to name a few.
As far as Mass Effect is concerned, the game looks decent but its still and Unreal game loaded with screen tearing, pop in and texture loading. Its utter crap when compared to Uncharted 2. Possible even Uncharted 1.

I for one can't wait for Dead Space 2. I really enjoyed the first one…
And as long as Developers aspire to make a game anywhere near a gem as Uncharted 2 was it can only be a good thing.
We all know unless they go exclusive to the PS3 they won"t quite reach that level unless they start the development on the PS3 and then downscale and port to other platforms I guess.
