If you're still having fun with one of the year's best shooters, Battlefield: Bad Company 2 , you'll be happy to learn about the new expansion.
DICE and EA have announced the all-new multiplayer mode called "Onslaught," which brings us the benefit of cooperative fun for the very first time in the series. "Coming soon," it'll be available on the PlayStation Network and Xbox Live Marketplace and will allow up to four players to sample four multiplayer maps (Valparaiso, Atacama Desert, Isla Inocentes, and Nelson Bay), all with overhauled lighting, different times of day, new vehicles, and other special effects. There's a "dedicated gameplay focus" for each map, which will require a team effort in order to complete the objective at hand. Said Patrick Bach, DICE Senior Producer:
"We're thrilled to bring something new and fresh to Battlefield: Bad Company 2 while still keeping Battlefield's signature gameplay intact. We want to consistently support the over 4 million fans playing the game with new ways to get into multiplayer and also challenge the elite players with new experiences to improve their performance online. Effective squad play is the key to success in Battlefield: Bad Company 2 multiplayer and this new mode will provide players with a dedicated environment to test their team skills and rank against the competition."
Bad Company 2 really is a wonderfully polished and almost ceaselessly entertaining shooter, and the addition of online co-op will make it even better. DICE has somehow managed to top Infinity Ward's Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 in the online multiplayer aspect, or so say some critics…do you agree?

I like Battlefield more then MW2, although i still play MW2 only with friends, rarely will i play online by myself.
I love battlefield so much I've got it both for PS Xbox & soon will be getting it for PC.
y?
It says on Eurogamer that this won't be free,so I wonder how much they'll charge for this. I'm hoping it can top MW2 spec ops mode.
BC2 imo just out ranks MW2 in rather a large way.
BTW… EU hast the BC2 DLC up on the PSN.. go get it!
I do like Bad Company 2 more then MW2 but EA's little scam were they make you think you are getting something for free when it was already on the disc is irritating. Also, they've had "Coming Soon" in their DLC store since release, from what I've heard the Xbox already got a bunch of free add-ons the PS3 didn't. A little annoyed. But co-op will be welcome. Squad Deathmatch is getting boring.

Yeah the recent DLC was released on Xbox three weeks ago. But its nothing special; just skins. If anyone's been playing BFBC2 since day one they should already have the weapons included.
Will it be same screen Co-op… or online only Co-op?
I love 4 player same screen, because I'd rather have my friends in the same room while we yell at each other about what we want the others to do…. more fun that way.
That's why you get a headset/microphone for your PS3. It's mandatory when playing online with friends. They are not expensive either.
That doesn't really seem to answer the question.
Please allow me to restate the question.
Is this 4 player local co-op?
Well, it enables you to yell at eachother, wasn't that the goal?
This game is leagues ahead of MW2 as far as online goes. I have so much fun playing this game with my friends online. Some people get frustrated with it quickly because it's "Not COD." That is the most ignorant excuse to not learn to play the game properly I've ever heard, yet it is very common to hear it. You absoluetly have to work as a team and as a squad, you must also know your role you are playing as. It's not run and gun twitch shooting (only when you get close range battles with enemies.). I recomend this game highly for anyone who hates COD or is bored with COD like I have become. COD4 was a blast for me for well over a year and a half, then I moved to MW2 the night it was released, to me, MW2 made COD overly accessible to everyone via cheap perks, I miss the days of COD4 because back then it was more about your skill using the weapons and the occasional occurrence of dumb luck than it was about perks and ridiculous kill streak rewards. Anyhow, I'm ranting now, the bottom line is, you will not be disappointed by BBC2 if you are looking for a highly tactical, team oriented shooter that requires dedication but is not as intensive or extreme as SOCOM. BBC2 is like a meeting of COD MW2 and the SOCOM series with some MAG influences.
I fear that by the time I get BC2 all the good camping bushes will be occupied.
It's possible.
Isn't camping frowned upon? I ask because I don't know. I haven't ventured into the online shooters, unless you count U2.
Alienange, isn't hiding and getting cheap kills beneath you? I think you should show your grit and only play with a knife.
Do people go into war games expecting opponents to play fair? Campers die like anyone else. If you're frowning on a camper, well, that's just sour grapes talking.
Yelling out "pistols only" before a match is freakin' hilarious though. Some actually fall for it.
no they wont be occupied but by them time you get it, those bushes you try to occupy may be well known and not exactly good hiding spots
"If you're frowning on a camper, well, that's just sour grapes talking."
I hate camping….. because it makes the game boring. I've played entire teams of campers on shooter games where everyone has their little freakin hiding spot, and it is no fun at all to run around for 10 minutes and then get shot from nowhere.
People like you make these games suck.
@ Bridgera
Since BBC2 is more tactically oriented and in certain game types you have to "camp," at least for a period of time to either defend objectives or out maneuver the other team… "Camping," is a reality of real battlefields. Luckily BBC2 provides plenty of ways to flush out or kill campers, you can alert your recon players to call in mortar strikes on the building the camper is hiding in or do it yourself if you are playing a recon role, or the area (bush, rocks, objects etc.). That is why a mic is very important in a game like this, if you let people know where to find the camper you may find other people who will work with you to take him/them out.
@Natalisrubbish
If the game is actually a "capture and hold" or "search and destroy" type game, camping is perfectly fine. That can actually be fun.
It's when the game is something like Team Death Match, and you have people hiding in a huge map waiting for you to run by so that you can get a cheap kill, that's where I have a problem with campers.
That could be true, but you can give them a head shot and teach them to stay away from your favorite bush, haha.
Here is your Co-op World!
Pretty stoked for this Co-op action, this is the only thing Bad Co. 2 was missing. As I can agree that BC2 topples MW2, I did enjoy Spec-Ops quite a bit.

In my book, both MW2 and BC2 fall flat when compared to MAG.
But when it comes to comparing the two, I'll still take MW2 over BC2 due to the tight controls MW2 offers.
too bad that every time i played there werent much people playing acquisition and domination.
maxpontiac-
Im with you MAG is the best online shooter this gen. It offers so much, and yet keeps it fun!
johnld-
its weird you say that cus MAG is always full, no matter the game mode.
when i joined theres about 800 on each team for sabotage, less than 126 for aquisition, and about 300 in domination. so far thats how its been for me.
thats pretty weird because theres always up in the high 800- 1,000 when i play across all game types and thats for each faction not just altogether. idk man u playin at 4 in the morning? 😉
Battlefield has a much better Single Player Campaign as well. Not just the online multiplayer. I prefer Battlefield to MW2 even though I have both. It's so much more fun when you're playing with friends. Also, the perks in Battlefield are much more realistic. It really is more about skill and I dig that. MW2 "Was" a lot of fun. Until I played my first match of Battlefield.
I'm glad to see that they are adding a co-op. I just hope it is like Spec Ops in the sense that it has local Split Screen. Spec Ops was an awesome addition to MW2.
Doh, I was going to trade in BFBC2 for RDR on the 18th but now I'm not so sure. Had no idea they were going to release stuff this big. Can't wait to try this out with some friends online.
yeah is it split screen?
that's the question right there, the only reason I used to play shooters was for the split screen when friends came over and we'd duke it out.
yeah that would make me want the game. I don't even care if it cuts the graphics down a notch.
Hey is this going to be for free or what?
yea i sold MW2 2 months ago. BC2 made it obsolete.
my only main complaint about bc2 is that there is no proximity chat and no team chat. (when, yur in a squad)
No team chat? No way to communicate with your team? Really?
you can only speak with your squad. it makes it hard to be on the same wave length as the rest of ur team, one of the few faults this game has imo
that VIP code better work for this too. those past maps were already in game and was just added to other playlists. those are not dlcs, its just timed expansions for an illusion of free dlc.
Is it offline co-op or online co-op?
i luv bc2.
but again, why are u bringing mw2 into this? not necessary at all, ben.
No kidding.
Because they are both online shooters and they are compaired to each other often.
And if you re-read Ben's comment, he is actually asking a question as to whether or not you agree BC2's online is better than MW2's.
Their constant comparison is odd though considering just how differently they play.
No i agree with alienange and booze. If were comparing shooters why wasnt KZ2, or MAG brought in. The reason everyone compares mw2 to every other shooter is for 2 reasons. Its success and because its the game everyone loves to hate!
I mean compare away, but theres other shooters out than than BC2 and MW2, and one of them has brought free dlc i believe 3 times, MAG.
The article was meant to headline about the BC2 onslaught mode. Just leave it at that!

geesh, its not like he said MW2 sucked ass or something. I think its fair to compare the 2, since this game is getting online co op now and MW2 had the spec ops mode ( imo one of the best things the game had amongst quite a few flaws) and is the reason why he didnt use KZ2 or MAG, seeing as though there is no co op modes on either of those 2

MW2 is known as the all time best online multiplayer mode. But yes, they are being compared because MW2 is pretty much the king of online shooters at the moment.
U2 is going to be compared to in graphics, constantly no matter what kind of game it is, true?
For the record, they arent online shooters, they are FPS with online multiplayer modes. lol.
I didnt like BC2, thumb me down all you want but MW2 owns this game.
heracy! XD
MP wise BFBC2 > MW2 but SP wise MW2 > BFBC2.
but than BFBC > MW2 > BFBC2 in every aspect!
BFBC2 was really a case of one step forwards 10 steps back!
DICE focused way to much on the MP and just copped MW2 for the SP mode.
honestly if it was not for the name, and the characters you would not know BFBC2 is a sequel to bad company it feels, and plays like a TOTALLY! different game.
i was sooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!! disappointed with BFBC2!
how can you say that?!?!
i havnt tried BC2 yet, but i cant imagine the SP being anything less than BC1. and i LOVED BC1 single player, ALOT more than i liked MW1 SP.
and you want to be a games developer!!! =
the SP campaign in BCBC2 is NOTHING! like the SP campaign in BFBC.
dont talk about a game you have not played.
as i said if it was not for the name, and the characters you would not know this is a sequel to BFBC.
Thank you Dice anything co op is great idea hope to see more weapons in the game British L85 assault rifle and heavy machine gun also the Scar H AND the Bizon sub machine gun g36 c
