Batman: Arkham Asylum GotY Edition Available Now

Did you miss out on one of 2009's best? Have you been looking for an excuse to finally catch up?

That excuse is finally here. The Batman: Arkham Asylum Game of the Year Edition is now available in North America for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, and it boasts four Challenge Maps plus the innovative new 3D technology complete with the necessary glasses. That's right, this new edition will support TriOviz 3D on both the PS3 and 360; this is a "patented 3D process which adds depth to the game, visible to players wearing the included 3D glasses." And in those four maps, players will be able to face off against Arkham Asylum's biggest, baddest inmates in places like Crime Alley and the Scarecrow Nightmare. Although superhero games never really scaled the elite heights of interactive greatness prior to Rocksteady's Batman title, the latter was wonderfully polished and a blast to play. It's the reason why fans are anxiously awaiting the sequel, which may or may not be unveiled at E3. And after that, we should probably petition Rocksteady to work on a Superman game…nobody has every done Superman right and if there's one studio that could…

So anyway, if you didn't get a chance to play it last year, the Game of the Year Edition of Batman: Arkham Asylum should definitely be on your "must-purchase" list for this month.

Yay for nauseating red & green tinted 3D?

Does the goty edition have a choice to not use the 3d, because if it doesn't then I won't be buying this. I've been wanting to get this game as I haven't bought it yet. Was way too short to warrant a $60 purchase from me and have just been patiently waiting for this goty edition, but I want nothing to do with this fuzzy 3d.

Just saw that goty version is still 49.99!
Looks like I'll keep on waiting for this one.

Don't give these guys any ideas. They just got off the ground with this blockbuster game. If they started dumping their profits into the cursed Superman franchise, well, I fear the worst would happen and that would be the end of our sweet Batman games.

I say release a new Batman game every year with new maps I mean levels. Using stealth to take out those bozos was a fantastic good time.

Yea! A Superman game would be fantastic; Batman was one of Favorites of 2009.

$30 for arguably the best superhero game ever released on any console ever invented with all the DLC along with 3D enabled support, well I'm sold. Maybe I'll hold off on some other great titles this year and get Batman instead. Although I am a gamer, survival is still of the utmost importance. I will get RDR though, I can't be the newly joined recruit that bails on his posse, what kind of guy would that make me? 😉

I'm pretty sure the game of the year edition is $50.00. Still worth it though.

I didn't read anything negative thus far. Maybe a little 3d apprehension. Mostly you will find people lining up to heap a pile of steaming praise on to this game. Well deserved pile by the way.

No no he's right. We should take time to "dis" other people's comments instead. That way we come across as a superior intellect in the world of news article commenting.

wow alienage calm down… i didnt say any names nor did i say hah my comment is the best… my point was why read articles for a videogame that you dont even like to just go to the comment section and say how bad it is and how other games are better… which would apply to mw2 more than batman but its stil the same thing… i dont like final fantasy but you dont hear me say anything about it…

Awesome game. Not my favorite, but it was fun to play for sure.

Only real complaint I had with it is that Batman looked like a roid-freak. I can accept comic book muscles, but man, that was over the top in my book.

i got my platinum in less than 4 days, i only rented it because i didnt have the money at that time. i'm waiting till i can get it for 20 because i want it in my collection.

im with alien, shock and awe was a pain. key is to stay near one of the gun cases and attack the one going after a gun with a batarang and also chain your hits together. make sure you use finishing moves every time you can. its easier when you max out your batman stats by purchasing every upgrade.

GoTY edition is $50?! Well, that sort of changes everything, I know it's a great game but back to my old plans. Yep! Guess I'll just pick up all the great titles I've been waiting for that will be released later this year. Sorry Batsy, I'll snag you at $30 and no more. You're great and all but, I've got my priorities in check.

Batman: Arkham Asylum surprised me most. When I first started playing it, after playing the Uncharted Series and Ratchet & Clank: Tools of Destruction, I didn't like the slow pace of this game. Then it grew on me and I really enjoyed picking up all the clues and reading every character's bio. Looking forward to the Batman sequel.

huh? its been out since march!

anyway, i really enjoyed batman AA for 3 reasons.
1 its polished within a inch of its life! something very rare these days, im looking at you lost planet 2!!!!!
2 the combat system is by far the best i have ever used! its so easy to string combos together, block, counter attack, switch between enemies.

and the piece of resistance the stealth and cat and mouse games!
you have no idea how fun it is to hang off a gargoyle and through items at your enemies scaring the sh*t out of them.
batman AA had me in stitches the whole time, its so much fun fu*king with your enemies minds.
yes i know there AI, but that still did not take away from the pleasure!

oh, and if you play it on PC with nvidias 3D glasses the game is GORGEOUS!!!!
stuff the GOTY edition, save yourself the 20 bucks and put that towards getting a 3D compatible monitor and nvidias glasses.
best 400 bucks i have ever spent!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

shame alan wakes not coming to PC, it would be amazing to play that in 3D.
oh well, i guess some things are not meant to be.
DAM YOU M$!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
