Valkyrie Profile 3 Exclusive To PS3?

You may recall the original Valkyrie Profile for the first PlayStation, and then Valkyrie Profile 2: Silmeria for the PS2. So would it make any sense at all that the third title would be exclusive to the Xbox 360…?

Perhaps not, but that was the rumor last month. Now, it appears the rumor has switched and that the original source behind it – GoFanboy – "got their wires crossed." They now say that Valkyrie Profile 3 will be exclusive to the PlayStation 3, which certainly makes more sense but still has to be taken with a grain of salt. They refer to one of the two mysterious "world exclusive" announcements PSM3 has slated for next month, so perhaps all of this will be cleared up in only a few weeks time. And if VP3 is confirmed as a PS3 exclusive, thereby continuing a series that is beloved by critics and RPG aficionados alike, that will add more fuel to Sony's upcoming exclusive lineup that now includes inFamous 2 , Gran Turismo 5 , The Last Guardian , LittleBigPlanet 2 , and Killzone 3 . The question is, are there enough of you who remember the VPs from yesteryear? How many would be totally psyched at a third, and how many would just sort of go, "Valkyrie what now?" If you're unfamiliar, we urge you to find a copy of Silmeria somewhere, especially if you're a JRPG buff.

For now, we can only hope that the third installment will indeed come to the PS3; having it be exclusive to the Xbox 360 would be just mind-bogglingly bizarre.

I remember playing the hell out of the PSP release and me and my friend losing our lives to the second one almost… Not really but we played it a lot. This 3rd entry is getting me pumped.

Hehe… Kinda off topic but I lol'd at the "Comments (Beta)" title still being up there.

It's like PS Home.

VP3 exclusive on PS3? Yes please! This has the potential to rule the PS3 RPG roost.

I played the hell outta VP for PS1 back in the day. Excellent game but had some serious difficulty issues if I remember right. Never played VP2, kinda forgot there was one. Is it a lot like the original? For some reason I have a feeling they took out all that was great about the original. So if I played VP3, besides the title, would I even recognise it?

For those that played the second one, how was it different from the first? What should I expect from the third…

if you play VP1, VP2 kept the best things mostly intact, 2D dungeon and treasure puzzles still there, combo/juggle system and PWS still there

in VP2 you get to setup tactical placement of your team before attack/comboing, can break body parts of enemies as treasures, equipments can string together as runewords to learn skills,

crack load more new characters, a lot more skills and movesets to choose from like +5 moves per character, and an even bigger seraphic gate!

just youtube a review vid or something

Never played the Ps1 version. I have the one on 2 though. . . Was like 10hours into it, 'fore the PS3 just started piling on top of each other.

Was going to buy one 360 this month but in the end Alan Wake wasn't enough good or scary (dead space and siren are better survivals), the other excuse its VP-3.. 1-2 are top notch rpgs , if this comes to the Ps3 I don't need a 360.

DAmn, I read Valkyria Chronicles 3 for PS3 and got really excited!!! But, it wasn't. Anyway, I hated the camera on silmeria, but I really liked the style and the soundtrack, and also the gameplay was good, but again, the camera was horrible during battles.

I'll get this anyway, but I think it'll take a while, since Tri-Ace just finished Resonance of Fate.

VP1 was pretty innovative for its time, VP2 put such a crazy spin on its predecessor the whole battle/dungeon system is utterly flawless and amazingly fun

i really can't imagine what they could do to improve on VP2, o boi am i excited

File me under cautiously optimistic.

I just don't trust Square Enix anymore. Knowing them, it will be a 360 timed exclusive. Let's hope they finally learned where there fan base is.

I am a big fan of the valkyrie profile of ps1 I terminated the game numerous times, sound, graphics and story are fantastic, the second in my opinion was a huge disappointment, I was not satisfied with the rumor about a third game, as square- enix forgot how to make classic rpgs.

ooooooh cmon Valkyrie Profile 3.

havent had a real good RPG experience this year yet.

FF13 didnt live up to my expectations.
Last Rebellion was garbage.
i love valkyria chronicles.
n i just ordered 3D dot game heroes.
and white knight disappointed me as well (coop was cool but that was it).

now i need a proper attempt at an rpg from SE. (im looking at you versus XIII or even a new dragon quest)

I'd love another Valkyrie Profile for my ps3. SE needs to analyze as to which console they've had the most success on and why.

I would like to know who actually believed it would be exclusive to the 360, it's a game that's ALWAYS been on the PlayStation. It feels to me like more of a PS3 exclusive than most of the FF series does, and I haven't even gotten to play any of them, lol.

yes but remember what happened with Star Ocean, it was exclusive for the 360 for a long time.

If this turns out to be true, I wonder if Square decided to make VP3 a PS3 exclusive after they realized it doesn't matter whether 'There were more xboxes in American homes' and they could benefit more from making it exclusive. I'm just saying…

exclusive to the 360 i find hard to believe because RPGs dont sell well on that system.
shooters yeah, but thats about all their fans are interested in.

resonance of fate went multi so i feel pretty safe, although i wish they would just go hardcore on PS3 alone so the it would look as good as … well i was gonna say god of war but lets just say better than FF13

but resonance of fate didn't look that much better than VP2 imo, and vp2 on ps2 hardware was pretty impressive even though it was end of the console's cycle

ryu,

<<<<and vp2 on ps2 hardware was pretty impressive even though it was end of the console's cycle>>>>

What??? The Ps2 is still ALIVE, and last I looked(about 2 months ago) it was still selling over 65,000 in that month alone.
Plus both, Sony & developers are still supporting it…..

I'm sure glad you're not the ref at a PS2 Prizefight.

If you'd just take a real good look in the PS2's corner, you'll see it is still ducking, bobbing & weaving, and chomping at the mouthpiece, all while waiting for the next bell to begin.

The PS2's already gone the distance & it's still steaming forward. It's looking to put the 360 down for the count, cause there's just no frigging way that MS is EVER gonna ever going to come close to tagging the PS2 on it's chin! Especially since the PS2's wearing the Champion Belt for it's pulverizing win-streak of 140 million+ sales against all comer's so far.

And NOW, with the PS3 in Sony's stable of knockout artist's, this tried & true, trio of punisher's(that being the PS1, PS2, & the PS3), they WILL BE the "Triple Threat" of the entire console world.

"Whether you know it or not, you are witnessing an historic event unfolding before your very own eyes, as Sony throws winning combination's of connecting haymakers, roundhouses, & uppercuts on it's way to a stunning 3-peat title.

Now what was that again, about the PS2's pre-mature demise???

I love VP. I can't wait for the next one. I'd prefer a PS3 version, but I don't care and just want to play VP3.
