LBP2 Confirmed For 2010, Creation Taken To Another Level

Well, despite past statements from Media Molecule saying a LittleBigPlanet sequel would be "counterproductive," it appears LBP2 is very much a work in progress.

You will soon see an expansion on the "Play, Create, Share" concept pioneered by Sackboy and Co. when ModNation Racers releases later this month (and yes, you can expect a review very, very soon), but fans of the original LittleBigPlanet will be most satisfied with this news. It comes courtesy of the newest Game Informer, where Media Molecule divulged plenty of great details about the incoming follow-up, which will unsurprisingly emphasize player customization. In other words, if you thought there was plenty of user freedom in the original title, you ain't seen nothin' yet. Know why? You won't just be able to create your own levels from scratch; you'll actually be able to create your own genres from the ground up. Yep, you can make an RPG, a FPS, or a straight-up action game. The developers use examples of old-school classic titles you can recreate in LBP2 and just about all the restrictions and limitations you might normally expect will disappear. We're talking about enhanced AI and physics, and an overall level of customization that is basically unparalleled. Ah, but perhaps that's not the most important part:

They say the game will be ready to go this year. That means it could be a gigantic title for the holidays – perhaps along with Gran Turismo 5 – and that's good news for Sony's bottom line. And of course, you can expect to hear and see more at E3 next month.

I'm not sure if I understood your post correctly, but if I did, ModNation Racer isn't being made by "Media Molecule".

ModN R's being done by a completely different developer….."United Front Games", but just using the same new type of "Play, Create, Share" genre.
