Ben-DutkaOkay, so we don't have a new Ace Combat for the PlayStation 3 just yet, but that doesn't mean flight aficionados won't have another option later this year.
Ubisoft has announced a sequel to last year's HAWX is in the works; it'll come to the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii and PC some time this fall (oh dear Lord, another big autumn title). Ubisoft Bucharest is at the helm and although we don't have a ton of details at this time, it seems the game will be – surprise, surprise – directly inspired by Tom Clancy's novels. You can also expect to step into the most agile, capable and deadly machines on earth, engaged in battle in an unknown location and pressed to survive. The first game was set in the near future (2012) when private military companies (PMCs) began to run rampant and take advantage of lenient international law; you had to help restore order. Maybe this will be a direct sequel and HAWX 2 will follow in the footsteps of the original title but for now, we don't really know. And yes, HAWX sold a million-plus units so the sequel is indeed warranted, regardless of whether or not you were aware of last year's launch. Flight fans will definitely remember it, that's for sure. Ace Combat may have some competition, ya know…
So be prepared for more info on this impending sequel, which is likely to arrive during E3 next month.

The HAWX 2 Platinum will look nice next to the HAWX Platinum I already have.

Yes Ben, I like flight games alot. I only need one game, and that's Ace Combat. It's flying version Gran Turismo when it comes to how much I love the series.

if i had the coin to drop 200 for a joystick/throttle combo, id be all over flight games.
kinda like if i had the coin to drop 300 on a racing wheel id be all over driving games.
HAWX was a fun rental, but flight games and driving games (in particular driving simulators) share a common drawback for me; its gonna cost more than $60 to get my money's worth out of it. way more.
Try a Thrustmaster HOTAS X; it work great for PS3 and PC, plus it's cheap

I tried the demo of Hawx and absolutely hated it. I don't know if the whole game was this way, but I almost needed a magnifying glass to see the jet I was piloting. I couldn't find a first person view and that's the way I play jet fighter games.
Ace Combat is the only game that gets it right.
Loved the first Hawx which was just supposed to be something to waste time until Ace Combat came out. I will definitely be picking up Hawx 2.
The campaign mode in the first one was a blast but the best part was the 4 person online coop play…With everyon playing on elite that could get intense on some levels..

yeah, a year should be plenty time to fix hawxs problems……………
