THQ To Reveal Next Red Faction “Later This Month”

We know the new Red Faction will be here sooner than expected, and we know THQ and SyFy have teamed up to deliver a TV movie based on the series.

But what we didn't realize was that THQ is ready to show off the new title before the month is over. According to Joystiq , the publisher enjoyed a positive earnings report where CEO Brian Farrell commented on the relative success of last year's Red Faction: Guerrilla . While he said he'd give his company a "B" grade for the game, he added, "I think we did a great job on the game, I think we did an average job on demand creation." But they're addressing that lacking with the latest RF project and Farrell said we'll see the changes "in the way we unveil it later this month." Furthermore – and you lovers of solid storylines should appreciate this – THQ's Danny Bilson said the next Red Faction would be "more narrative;" Farrell follows this up by saying that the story was "one of the weaker points" of Guerrilla . As good as that game was, we won't disagree.  The open-ended world was great for exploring and general freedom, but we did sort of lose contact with the main plot awfully quickly.  We don't need an RPG but engaging stories and great characters are appreciated in most all genres.

Anyway, we can't wait to learn more about the game and it seems the time is fast approaching for an unveiling. We'll let you know when THQ reveals what we want to see…

Guerilla is a game I really want to buy. Unfortunately it fell in the category of games that don't get bought because "there's too many other games to play." It will eventually be mine though, and this new one in turn, will fall into the "there's too many other games to play" category.

That and the demo did not impress. I know they normally don't, but decisions had to be made.

Guerrilla is good fun, well worth the purchase if you see it at a discounted price, I felt it lacked some polish to warrant a full RRP. I hope the future games go back to the fps with Guerrilla as a tps open world spin off for the series.

sweet!
just please for the love of god actually polish this game!
red faction guerrilla had enough bugs to put mercenaries 2 to shame!
hopefully they go back to the original games style, cover based FPS but with the ego engine obviously so we can keep that incredible destructive environments and physics engine!

and please have varying missions and enemies.
enough of this take cover, pop, shoot, take cover, pop, shoot, dodge grenade, take cover, pop, shoot routine.
how about mixing up the gameplay a little and keep the player on his toes?

I'm playing Guerrilla right now. It's pretty fun, but it has its fair share of problems. I'm getting close to liberating the second town and I still feel as if I'm just learning how to play it. I get killed and/or fail my mission very often, and it's a bit frustrating at times. There are a lot of other minor complaints as well.

But I'm still interested in the next game. The destructible environments are a ton of fun, and with some work on the story and a thorough polishing of everything else, this could definitely be on my shopping list.

BRING BACK 2 PLAYER OFFLINE!!! I have REAL Friends too and I'd like to play some games with them without them having to be at their house. And wrecking crew don't count, that gets old FAST. 2-4 people offline would be great.

And anything made by SyFy is a Pathetic excuse for a movie, who is going to be in it, Robert England and Henry Rollins, Yuck to all Syfy Movies, they are lame and cheesy.
