Obviously, Activision's deal with Bungie was super huge news , and even though Bungie says they're done with Halo , we're still interested in their next project.
And because Bungie has been free of Microsoft for a couple years now, it makes sense to assume that whatever their new game is, they're deep in development. Analyst Michael Pachter agrees with this rationale but then again, we're assuming he has some inside info. According to what he told Gamasutra , he first believes that this deal is more than a distribution agreement; it's more of a publishing partnership, which will "increase Activision's profit margins from around 10% to anywhere between 15 and 20% on all of Bungie's titles." In fact, he says Activision stands to rake in around $65 million on Bungie's first successful title. Lastly, Pachter says the new game is "well along in its development" and it should be a very big action game. We might see the announcement at E3 but in the meantime, all we can really do is guess…unless either Bungie or Activision decides to spill the beans before then. For our part, we actually prefer that it's not another Halo ; that series is tired and Bungie is clearly a talented developer, so they should be able to produce something pretty special.
So what do you think the game will be? And do you think it will be the massive hit everyone is expecting it to be?
Maybe Patcher knew something we didn't this time 🙂
I am not surprised that their first title will make money, it's Bungie after all.
The xBots will no doubt buy into any new I.P. that comes along from them. I am also sure of one thing, the quality will not be bad, in fact, over all their quality will probably improve.
They have a new market to prove their worth to now… PS3 fans.
I assume their new game will be FPS based, if not, I will be surprised, it's what they know best at the present time…
There is quite a bit of competition about though, with likes of Crysis 2 and Killzone 3… not to mention the new Medal of Honour…

Umm, aren't they developing Halo Reach now?
And Bungie is not a huge studio so their first Activision game will most probably come as early as 2012.
Does he predict stuff everyday?
Talks a lot of crap and 2 week late obvious observations every day.
And gets paid handsomely for it too.
I want his job.
Honestly now let's all say together:
…….THANK YOU MR. PACHTER – you can go back home now. "OH GOD A GAME IS IN DEVELOPMENT!!!!" NO……………..REALLY?!?!?! How fu**ing dumb would it be if Activision and Bungie didn't have a game planned ahead of time? God Pachter…you really need to shut up once in a while.
It's hilarious because in the "Bonus Round" the users can't help but scream for Pachter in every single episode! I'm more of a Jaffe and N'Gai fan!
I'm really excited for Bungies new game.I'm not sure if all they have ever done is Halo but it's the only franchise that i know Bungie worked on. It will be interesting how they handle the Playstation 3…i also wonder if it will be fps…
Not sure if it will be fps or not, but if it is, I'll likely just roll my eyes and walk away, looking for more interesting subjects.
My thoughts as well. We all know that they can make fps. I'm more interested of what else they can do and see if they're not a one trick pony.
Call of Duty : Ring
It would be nice if they showed up with their game at E3. Get a little hype going, show us what they're up to because frankly, their last couple of games have sucked nads.

I'd be surprised if Bungie/Activision's first game together ends up being revealed at this year's E3. Would Bungie do that before Halo:Reach is even released?
Then again, if I've learned anything from recent developments in the gaming world, its that anything's possible.

i seriously can not believe they have signed with moneyvision.
shock of the year.
no scratch that, shock of the century!
now who wants to bet activision will be filling for bankruptcy?
yeah, i thought so!
i hope its a physiological horror though, one that gets in your mind, fu*ks with it and makes you thing your crazy!
ive always wanted a game based on the novel cabin fever.
imagine a horror game written by the master stephen king himself!
oh, now thats a title truly worth of its hype!
The length of this deal, the fact that it is a decade long suggests to me that at least one of their upcoming projects is going to be a MMO. Various interviewers have asked them whether this is the case, and Bungie are being deliberately evasive about it.
I hope that, at the very least, they leave the FPS genre behind and venture into something different and exciting.
The only thing that makes any sense at all would be for them to be working on Call of Duty.
It should be interesting to see what these guys come up with.
I'll reserve judgement though, I'm not prepared to drink any kool-aid on this one.
I've never played a single Halo. I was avoiding FPS until just a couple years back.
I'm betting that their first game won't be a drastic change from what the Halo fans are used to.
You mean original Xbox graphics rendered at a sub-HD 600p?
Oops.
so what?
better to have bad graphics and fantastic gameplay, than great graphics and poor gameplay.
"….and the angel opened the seventh seal, and there was great sadness all over the earth, crops withered, famine begat disease, death became one-fourth of the population of earth, and bobby kotick signed a deal with bungie."
it's in revelations, people!
LOL. Nice…..but it's "Revelation"….as in just one.
ah… noted, good sir.
hee hee hee, Bung-vision…hee hee hee….
BungleVision?
