Well, it seems logical. The SyFy channel really should be more involved with the gaming industry.
Back in February, publisher THQ and the SyFy channel revealed a deal that would put THQ's de Blob on TV screens. And as Broadcasting & Cable reports, the duo is at it again: we're going to see an upcoming telefilm based on the popular and critically acclaimed Red Faction video game franchise. This will be a full-length, two-hour movie and it could be a pilot for a new TV series based on the RF games, which – if you couldn't figure it out – was inspired by the film, "Total Recall." Said vice president of SyFy Ventures, Alan Seiffert:
"It is the kind of content that fits our genre. It is a great fit for a big Syfy Saturday movie, and if it really works, it is a great back-door pilot."
On top of which, the door swings both ways with this deal. Future Red Faction installments will be co-produced by the SyFy games label, so it seems like everyone emerges with a piece of both pies. Finally, according to THQ's latest financial report, Red Faction 4 has been pushed up; it should be ready to go during the company's fiscal year (which ends on March 31, 2011). CEO Brian Farrell said the game's launch has been moved up to build on the popularity established by Red Faction: Guerrilla . Don't want to lose the momentum, ya know?
Oh gawd! Run for the hills everyone, SyFy is making another for TV movie!
Is it just me or did their quality take a nose dive when they decided to go all new millenia and change their name to SyFy instead of SciFi? If it's Science Fiction, then it's SciFi. Not sure what in hell SyFy stands for, perhaps it's just a dumbed down version of SciFi, just like their content?
Run for the hills people, this movie will smell worse than the last 'for TV' Highlander movie they made.

Awww…..I was looking foward to Python 8.
I guess they think using slang will make them look hip. Hold on ……nah, so far it's not working…… wait…nope still not working.
Oh god tv movies turn out to be mostly POO!
Remakes of V and The Prisoner just utter crap like any remake movie rubbish can never beat the original!
I found V and The Prisoner to be entertaining.
This is not going to end well.
Well syfy has some good tv shows, but just about no good movies. So I'm hoping that this is a pilot instead of a movie, cause I would much rather have a battlestar galactica type show than a mega pirrana type movie

Nothing is worst than "I Am Omega" or "Transmorphers:Fall of Man". Maybe because it's something they're familiar with things like Red Faction, I played the game last year and other then that race of people you steal the nano gun from I don't remember too many other kinds of creatures you run across.
So hopefully they spend that budget to make where ever they film look like Mars and the action scenes don't look too bad.
Well, I hope its good, but seeing as how almost all of the movies SyFy (hate the new spelling) shows are utter crap, I doubt it.
SyFy And THQ Team Up To Deliver The Suck. SyFy movies are horrible.
Well, if SyFy is going to make a hack-job of a film out of Red Faction, I hope it's based off of the Guerilla title and not the much-more-superior original RF game. I'm still hoping that the next RF game returns to its FPS roots.
Sounds like an instant flop… Red Faction is not exactly a game with a rvierting plot, although it is damn cool to drive a truck through a building! 😀
My first thought was Oh crap! The last Rf was crap, every syfy movie is crap. Now we'll be getting a double pile of, yup you guessed it, Crap!
Seems we're all in agreement about this movie being a flop, wonder why?
Because as we all know….
It's SyFy. It's what they do.
That's cool.
This sounds awful. I can't help it video game movies usually suck and so do made for tv movies. That's a nasty comnination but maybe somebody that has ever played the game will be working on it.
I doubt it will be anywhere near Mortal Kombat 1, one of the better video game movies ever made.
I'm actually looking forward to seeing this movie! I love all the cheesy "SyFy" movies and whatnot! Specially since a majority of them are done as student projects in the spirit of Issac Asimov.
I'm a big fan of the games, even though RF2 left alot to be desired as far as gameplay went, the story line is great!
I will be watching this movie for sure!!
(Let the thumb downs commence from all the children…)
Well that's not fair. Why no thumbs down from the adults?
From the people that brought us gems "Dinoshark" and "Blood Monkey". I used to like Sci-Fi Channel (I refuse to use the new spelling, it's so retarded).
I bet that this is still going to be better than any Uwe Boll film ever made
Yeah, I'll watch.
But hopefully they never get the idea to do a Metal Gear/SyFy movie though…
Oh,CRAP! I mentioned it! ("Delete Key! Where's the friggin' Delete Key!)
id love to see a blockbuster movie based on this.
playing through this now as theres nothing else to play and ive forgotten how amazing the game was.
just the destructible environments, the physics engine OMFG!
i cant wait to see what Stewart black and the masterminds do with it!
id love to see another red faction game, but please this time go back to the series original roots.
a spin off is all good and dandy, but sometimes you just need to bring the series back to its roots.
*cough* prince of persia *cough* *cough*
sorry, i got a really bad cold!
Im now playing Red Faction Guerilla ,got a free copy from that Darksiders code .The first Red Faction I played was for the N64 and remember enjoying it .when has a scifi tv movie been really good except Mosquitos that shiit was crazy but I was a kid when I watched that so all giant insect movies were cool.
