Wanna blow stuff up? Sure you do.
Beatshapers CEO Alexey Menshikov has posted an announcement over at the PlayStation Blog ; it's the unveiling of NormalTanks , a downloadable blast-fest for the PS3 or PSP. Described as an "old-school-looking, fast-paced, multi-directional, top-down arcade shooter set in a sci-fi universe," this one ought to appeal to all those who…um…like tanks. And destruction. And a tingling of nostalgia. The game will feature 8 challenging environments ranging from outdoor jungles to the interior of enemy bases, and of course, you'll have to face a boss at the end of each level. And with over 30 different enemy types, you will constantly have to adapt to the increasingly risky situation. Upgrades will unsurprisingly be crucial for ultimate success; there's even an upgrade that lets your tank turn into a giant walking robot, ala "Transformers." The game received an "Honorable Mention" at the Independent Game Festival's Student Showcase, there's a video at the Blog, too, and here's a set of screenshots . It certainly looks entertaining.
The PSN is getting a lot of stuff lately. You turn around once and there's suddenly a whole new batch of content that you have to sift through…not like we're complaining.

Hopefully there will be a demo. At first glance, it looks like a pass. That is where a demo can really help. If it turns out to be fun, then I can see picking it up. That's how I got Mushroom Wars. Never would have thought to buy that game without the demo.
Oh, and Crytek Boss, if you are reading…I was referring to the FREE demo of Mushroom Wars.
Top down arcade game!? Oh my goodness, talk about nostalgia. If this is priced in the usual PSN sweetspot, then it might get a lot of buys. Think about how many quarters people pumped into arcade machines playing this exact kind of game. I will have to take a look.
These old style arcade games are usually pretty tough to progress through. I may check it out, but I've grown accustomed to being able to beat games now.

The graphics are horrible stick of flash like graphics whats wrong with the old school 16-bit shooters?
I'm kind of confused on your comment, as I don't really know what you were saying, but if you're saying the graphics don't look great, what did you expect of the old nostalgia days? Old arcade games didn't have super awsome graphics of today.
2 words.

I forgot about this. Time to hit up the PS Store.
