If you were thinking that Eat Sleep Play's new game would debut at E3 this year, in the immortal words of Judas Priest, "you got another thing comin'."
David Jaffe made it very clear over at his rapidly expanding Twitter page that his long-awaited project will most certainly not be at E3 in June. Jaffe clearly likes to post a lot so you have to scroll down a bit for the tweet in question, but it just says, in response to another poster, "Well I assure you 100% that is not accurate. If my game would be at E3, I would be there." He also clears up that mystery surrounding the previously leaked name of "Twisted Metal: Harbor City;" it was a new installment from "ages ago" and was basically a sequel to Twisted Metal: Black . But obviously, that project never got completed. As for when the game he is currently working on will arrive, Jaffe once again shifted the focus to Sony, saying it's "Sony's call" and, "they pay for the game, they own the game." Yes, we've known for a while that it will be exclusive to a PlayStation platform (hopefully, the PS3 and not the PSP) but at this rate, I think we're all just tired of waiting. If it won't be at E3, when?
They already missed GDC and TGS isn't really the right announcement venue, so…eh, just announce it already. Like we've said before, we really have no idea why Sony is taking the CIA black bag approach to this game.
Strange. Why wouldn't Sony/Jaffe/everybody involved want to finally show what the hell he's been up to since God of War 1? Hope development is going smoothly.
well his last game was calling all cars
that came out in 2008?
Ah, good point, forgot about that one. Still, in terms of AAA games, it's been quite a while…
The waiting is making me go crazy!
nothing but anticipation for this game but man, no title no nothing? Throw us a bone here.
Seems impossible… some information would surely calm the hornets' nest…
Q!
"play.experience.enjoy"
lol
cmon people we all know its twisted metal
and if it isnt… well, "damn jaffe, that's a good one."
but non the less it would be interesting to have it confirmed
He just wants to save his announcement for a time when there won't be anything to compete with. At e3 there will be lots to talk about, later he can make the announcement and it will be all about him.
Hmm, what could it be? A totally new IP or still another Twisted Metal. We shall see.
Could his statement be a way to throw everyone off and surprise us all? Afterall, Sony has been terrible at keeping secrets leading up to E3. Anyone recall last year's "reveal" of the new PSP and footage of The Last Guardian?
I think he just likes to talk… a LOT.
At this point, I'm just not really caring anymore. When it is finally announced, maybe my interest will go upwards again, but these little cat & mouse teases are just getting annoying now.
Right now, I know I definitely have The Last Guardian and Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 to look forward to so almost everything else is taking the backseat to those two.
Sony is in charge of picking an announcement date? That's weird.
Why? it's exclusive. Maybe that was apart of the deal they made with Jaffe.
You'd think they'd want that out fast since there are no real exclusives for the PS3 coming out any time soon. If they push it off too long then they can't ride the success wave they have going.
Modnation Racers in May.
3d dot is soon then theres the fall line up
summer is slow for new games no idea why
Summers are slow for gamers because people are less likely to game during the season most of this country can finally walk out of their home, night or day, and enjoy the outdoor activities.
I definitely game A LOT less during the summer season. I start summer pale and lethargic and end it lookin bronze and practically nude… In a van, down by the river.
Never played twisted metal so couldn't care less. How bout some info on that super secret game dubbed revolutionary by a BBC reporter 6 months ago. That trail has gone cold
They need to hurry up. I want a new Twisted Metal!!!
Wake me when Sony finally announces something.
It's an updated HD version of DJ Boy but with Robocop instead. There. I spilled it. LMAO
lol
Talking about E3, it's starting to sound like it's going to be the worst in years. I mean weren't we promised a vitality sensor? Where is it?
Ok thanks. Carry on Jaffe.
It's funny how last year at this time, it seemes Sony couldn't keep a secret to save it's life, now Jaffe's game seems to be locked down tighter then Fort Knox…
Ben, out of interest – and because I might have missed it – did you ever reveal what the 'secret' game you knew about last year was?
No, we haven't…because they haven't. We're not allowed because they're not allowed.
'sigh' Whatever.
Arrrgghhhh!
Curse them! Whoever they are! Them and their secrets!
😀
No, Ben never told us about Alex Kidd in Super Shinobi Space Harrier Hang-On HD. I hope they work on that title. It's a mouthful!

Damn, ask a woman to keep a secret for that long…
It depends who the woman is keeping a secret from. Her significant other? Probably will die with that secret. lol
Its FF7. I know it.
lol, there's no game, is there jaffe? it's ok, you can be honest with me. i won't tell.
LOL! I'm beginning to think the same thing.
The secrecy has to mean that it's something so popular that Sony wants it to be a surprise. You know, kinda like a birthday present, only you have to pay for it.
I don't mind if this game, which ever game it is, doesn't get announced at E3. My take is that it's probably still in the infant stages, no need to rush a game that needs time to develop into a great game.
Keyboard Hero. Set to release Fall 2011.
I want Keytar Hero.
I've got my fingers crossed for Tambourine Hero.
I'm going to pre-order Tambourine Hero but I want the DUI Edition that requires a three drink minimum just to get started.
I get it for some reasons, Its probably gonna be bad ass, so they wanna be hush hush! but, but that could be ten years from now! does Jaffe even have anything, im beginning to think not!
Most likely he does, but i wanna know! 😉
I've given up on caring for this "so called game" would rather look forward to games that have been announced like GT 5. Maybe my mind will change but these cat and mice games are super annoying. I think I've even given up on the game Ben knows.
im seriously sick of waiting.
sorry david but a mans patience can only last so long.
im going to go mental if i hear another word from that guy if its not the announcement of his game.
maybe if he put as much effort into making his game, as he does blogging his game would be done by now!
my lord just because you took some time off blogging (god knows how he lasted so long) does not mean you have to make up for all the lost time!
Keyboard Hero?
More like Heroin Hero! (catch that dragon, boy…)
Jaffe himself stated that he'd be going dark UNTIL his game was announced.
Well lo and behold he came back in Dec and still no announcement.
He originally said this would be announced 'in 6-10 months' and that was back in Aug 2008!
Then it was 'between Dec and Feb 09'.
I understand the announce isn't his call but why keep saying its coming soon or throwing irritating little hints that aren't getting us anywhere?
Especially when it isn't his call.
This is not hyping the game at all its just turning ppl off.
And his numerous antagonistic blog posts like the infamous USED GAMES' debacle aren't helping since I've already seen ppl say they won't buy his new title directly because of that post.
And he originally said the game would 'definitely' be at E3 this year.
If you know nothing Jaffe please say nothing.
Its less effort for you and less hope for your 'fans'.
Oh on another note look at Dylan Jobe at LBI.
That guy is possibly working on Starhawk sequel to WH but he manages to keep pretty quiet apart from the odd little hint.
He isn't throwing a load of nothing at us.
It'll be interesting to see which game sells better…
I really want to like this game when it is announced but its been in dev for over 2 years remember so it needs to be something totally spectacular.
