Ben-DutkaThe saga of the unknown but much-discussed Gran Turismo 5 launch date is often frustrating, but we might finally be zeroing in on the grand finale.
Ever since the game got pushed out of its anticipated March date in Japan, we've been hearing conflicting evidence concerning the new date. However, if you simply stick with what you've heard from Sony and Polyphony, all signs point towards this fall; furthermore, Sony boss Peter Dille has said the game will most certainly release before the year is out. October is the popular theory right now and although it appears to be little more than a placeholder date, a reader tells us GameStop has a new launch date for GT5: November 1 . That fits with the albeit vague information we currently have, and it would be good timing for the holidays, too. With the likes of Heavy Rain and God of War III already available, Sony could definitely use a huge, high-profile PlayStation 3 exclusive for its holiday 2010 lineup. And we're not sure if the final version will boast compatibility for 3D and the PlayStation Move but in all honesty, we really don't care, anymore. We just want the game .
There's little doubt that GT5 will disappoint but the fans have been salivating for quite a long time now. So let's hope late-October/early-November is indeed realistic.

GT5 will without a doubt be the biggest launch on the PS3, and I can already see a lot of Wii's and 360's being traded towards a PS3 GT5 bundle.
The number of customers who have asked me whether it's out yet is unbelievable!!! I knew GT5 was popular, but I didn't think there were THAT many die hard fans of the big racing game!!!
Or atleast be moved to a closer date.

You're damn right we do! I understand the creater (can't remember his name) is a perfectionist and is never satisfied but what he may find unacceptable, we might find acceptable. In all honesty I love all the GT games he's produced, but the dude is starting to get on my nerves, reminds me of a woman, never satisfied.
No matter the release date, WHENEVER it finally releases, it'll be day 1 purchase (the whole reason I bought a ps3). GTPSP was day 1 and I have ALL the cars ready to go to transfer to GT5, so i keep waiting till that day, that wonderful, bright and shiny day.

I say they're goin to put it head to head with Halo Reach
You guys, I think he is right, to a degree.
GT5 won't be going head to head with Halo Reach, but from a console standpoint, both Sony and MS will be using them in an attempt to sell consoles.
It really doesn't matter if it goes head to head with Halo Reach, cause you can't play Halo Reach on your PS3!

Halo reach and GT5 shouldn't even be mentioned in the same sentence
Halo Reach competes with average games while GT5 is in a league of its own

I hope they're right about this cause I really want this. I'm dying to know how PD is gonna fight Forza.
Fight Forza? They already whupped it in the alley with GT5P, GT TT and GT PSP.
Livery editor and a auction house do not make a car simulator.
Come to think of it, either does permanent auto-steering, auto gear ratios, and a broken car class system.
GT5 will definitely have 3D, check gtplanets latest post.

Gt5 will push more consoles than Reach and that's more important. It benefits everyone.
I've never played the Gran Turismo series so I'm definitely interested to see what the fuss is about.
I wont believe anything until Kaz announces it himself. Its a shame this summer is going to be so dead. GT5 would make a perfect mid-june release. Nothing makes me happier on a hot summer day than turning on the AC and racing until midnight. But alas, NFS:Shift will have to suffice.

Oh i'll play the hell out of Modnation, but i was mainly talking about simulators. Something i can dust off my DFGT for.
It would be fun if you could use DFGT on MNR and use the horn-GT button for missiles… GET OUTTA THE WAY BEEBEEEP BOOM!
lol Modnation racers is already bringing out the child in me.
I like that date, it's early enough to get into Thanksgiving and Christmas

We've waited years for this. Another 6 months or so won't hurt, though they'll be some of the longest 6 months ever.
There is a good way of looking at it.
We had better see some serious sales numbers for GT5. Coming back here in January 2011 to read articles how GT5 has hit 2 million copies sold will in no way be comforting. This one is supposed to hit at least 8 million when it releases. No more of this not supporting PS3 blockbuster exclusives!
I think 4 million is more realistic, a great number for such a short time.
But by the end of 2011 I can see 8 million.
WooHoo,hopefully this date sticks, it will be perfect for my husband as either a late birthday gift or a christmas gift. Now I could be a mean Wife and make him wait till christmas. He love GT franchise.

Normally when we get a date such as (1/11/10) [welcome to Australia], it means the first week of the month.
With all that time I hope it's one sick looking game, and with that I mean like unreal, not as in unreal engine, cuz that's just lame, unreal as in not from this world graphics and gameplay n whatnot. It will probably be.

Gran Turismo 5 is the reason I bought a PS3 ! I cannot wait for it to come out !
I'm gonna laugh my ass of if this game comes out and it stinks to high heavens. One of the most unsure release dates in gaming history has to be GT5, and it would just be ironic if the game falls WAY behind expectations. But it probably wont, so I wont be laughing my ass off. At least not at GT5.
It's gonna be 5 years waiting for this damn game.

We don't need 3D or move.
All GT5 needs is a steering wheel, shiter,clutch brake & gas pedals nothing else.
I think most hardcore sim players will prefer to trade the move & 3D option for an optional platform that simulates the cars movements in which you could mount a seat with the steering wheel.

It's the biggest racing game for a long tie coming for anyone who actually doesn't know
I can't wait for GT5 and The Last Guardian. I believe those two titles are a perfect fit for the holiday season. Here's to Fall of '10.
I gave up believing anything Polyphony and Sony say, When its out, its out, not gonna speculate when they gotta Delay the schitt every 5 months. So who cares till its in a Plastic case in my Game Store.
