R.U.S.E. Pushed Again, Now Set To Invade September

If you're a real-time strategy fan, you've likely been keeping an eye on Ubisoft's R.U.S.E. However, the longer you wait, the less anticipation you may have…  Such is the way.

The game has held multiple release dates since being announced and once again, we have to wait a bit longer for the final launch. It was originally supposed to be on store shelves in the first quarter of this year, and yesterday, the publisher confirmed that R.U.S.E. won't be able to hit its estimated June release, either. According to an update on the game's official Facebook page – games have Facebook pages, now? – the game has been delayed yet again; this time, the new expected launch date is September. On the plus side, the good news is that Ubisoft needs the extra time to incorporate fan feedback from the recent public beta test. Specific aspects of the production are being changed or improved; this includes "multiplayer menus and matchmaking filters, pathfinding and AI behavior, and general game balance." Forgive us, but that sounds like a fairly massive overhaul…like, the game played terribly in the beta. But we're still holding out hope for a great RTS; there are some unique and intriguing concepts, here.

R.U.S.E. is coming to the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC and is in development at France's Eugen Systems. If you're wondering, they also handled Atari's Act of War series.

Never heard of it, and it's an RTS? ok…..I'll just pretend I walked by.(not a huge fan of RTS)

Never even heard of it..although the success rate of RTS's on Consoles hasn't exactly been up there yet, so that could be part of it. Although I think Sid Meier's Civilization did okay..

Aye, although Civilisation:Revolution was turn-based, not real-time strategy (these days, all strategy seems to be labelled RTS, even when it's not ;)).

And Turn-based strategy is generally far and above the better approach when the interest is in actual strategy, rather than tactics.

/rant ;). As for RUSE, it looks promising – I like the idea of it having a crack at implementing the idea of supply into an RTS, and the RUSE things look alright as well (as long as they don't end up being overdone). I play pretty much every strategy game on PS3 (I even tried Stormrise, although not for very long…), so will grab this one when it comes out, with crossed fingers :).

Having participated in the PC beta I have to say that it's definitely different than a typical RTS. The AI was rather terrible in the skirmish mission, but that's basically training mode and a beta so not everything was implemented in the first place. Versus people is where this game shines with all the diversions and fake attacks you can use to fool your opponent into reacting and hopefully moving forces away from your intended targets. May not be a first day buy but I'll definitely pick it up later.
