While we get the feeling that the focus will be squarely on the single-player campaign in Red Dead Redemption , the game will also boast a robust multiplayer option, too.
To learn more about it, check out the latest video featuring the "Multiplayer Competitive Modes." Rather than just letting everyone throw down in a massive gunfight, Rockstar has gotten a little creative: firstly, every contest actually starts out with a Mexican standoff, and the winner gets a head-start on the map. How freakin' cool is that? Plus, the totally revamped Dead Eye mechanic will be available in multiplayer as well; this is the feature that lets you target specific parts of your opponent's body before unleashing a rain of deadly bullets. Plus, weapons like the Gatling Gun will be found in the multiplayer modes as well, which include Deathmatch and Team Deathmatch, and Hold Your Own, which is based on the very popular Capture the Flag idea. There are multiple bags of gold out there, and you have to get just one of 'em… Lastly, all of the online modes grant progression across weapons challenges, and your ultimate goal is to snag those coveted golden guns.
Red Dead Redemption is rapidly shaping up to be one of the most impressive games of 2010. Whoever would've thought that a Western-themed shooter would hog the spotlight in this industry?

I saw this on Gametrailers last night,it looks hell of a alot fun to play.Cant wait for this game to come out.
I am so looking forward to this game. My friends and I are ready to posse up and start laying waste to them there pilgrims. Now all we need is the game. Thought we would be playing it by now but ya gotta love delays. It's ok though, MAG is still keeping me plenty busy.
I guess that article in the May U.S. issue of OPM was real after all. A lot of the Mexican standoffs and robbing of stagecoaches and the like happen in the online lobby.
I watched the video and it looks awesome and fun, before i didn't see a video of it and found out what it was about and i didn't know if i would like a western styled game, but that video changed my mind.
Just saw this and wow! I don't know how this game slipped under my radar, but I can't wait to get this:)
I can't wait 'till this game lands on my doormat, really psyched for this one, hope it turns out even better than I'm hoping…
Impressive indeed.
One of the most anticipated games for me. When done right, western setting can be epic and bad-ass! This most certainly looks like it will be. I can't wait.
There's "weapon progression" in RDR? I did not know. Nor did I know about any Golden Guns. I was pretty upset to hear they were left out of MW2. I might just have to get this game after all.

Yeah, this game is looking better and better. I wasn't to sure about it before, but the more of these videos I see, the more I'm looking forward to it.
Day one purchase for Grand Theft Horse for me…lol
I've been wondering something about the shootouts and showdowns portion of this game…any one know if R* is going to be doing any development of this game with the Move?
As much as I'm not overly sure about the PSMove yet, it would be kind of cool to do some quick draws with it..
Those crytek guys should take notes from R* on how to release a multiplat GOTY contender, they've only proven what they can do on pc. I also appreciate how R* hasn't been trying to snatch headlines by boasting, all I've heard about from R* are a delay, some gameplay features, and video releases. Crytek seems more like "Look at us we are making a multiplat now!" I wish them luck but at the same time it's like "Shut up and show me."
Word
I cannot wait for this!
they just keep coming up with more and more reasons for me to love this game, can't wait.
wanna be in my posse? whats your psn?
my psn, you're looking at it. 😉 kraygen here and there.
The more I learn about this game, the better it sounds! I've been skeptical about this one, but I think I'm gonna keep my pre-order and give R* another chance! GTA4 was a big disappointment, but RDR may redeem them! Online modes so far seem like they could give me hours of enjoyment!
The "Free Roam" multiplayer mode looks like a lot of fun too! Form a posse of friends and do, well, whatever! Hope the game lives up to all the hype!

This is going to be one of the best or maybe even the best game of 2010. GT5 being very close of course. This is a day one buy for me. It looks like so much fun i can't wait.
I really can't wait for this game guys. I think I'm trading in my Just Cause 2 for it, even though I spent about 40 or so hours with JC2, I don't feel like going back to it, and RDR is a "similar" type games that I think I'll spend way more time in. So trading it is a good idea I think, since I don't get all that much money to blow on games. Anyways, looking forward to starting a posse with my friend for some co-operative killage and hunting ^^
and this is just the standard MP!
add on a killer SP and the endless possibilities in free roam, and we may have a GOTY 2010 contender on our hands!
I can't wait for this game! And when it comes out, the semester will be over so I will have plenty of time to dive into the old west, rob some trains and shoot the sheriff! I look forward to seeing you all in free roam and maybe we can even get a PSX Extreme posse going 🙂
Oh god……..somehow this game feel like the Uncharted 2 of 2010 and multiplat.
The graphic is sweet too.
I dont get the feeling this game is focused on the single player at all… I mean at all. in fact it clearly is stated that the MP doesnt have lobbies and will be ran from the single player campaign. Meaning all the focus on the single player campaign can also be done while playing co-op MP.
I think rockstar wanted to keep the experience the same in both ways of playing, so far it loosk like they've done a great job!
And for the competitive modes, they are just a plus in this huge game! I cant wait!

Hope the single player is where its truly at.
Mexican standoff? hmmmmmmm, mes thinks this is going to end badly!
western cowboy + wide open world = the best possible formula for a video game.
but will R* pull it off, or will this be another sinker in the line of shitty games they have released this gen?
R* use to be king of the open world game, its sad to see them fall from grace.
i hope for their sake this is better than that last open world pile of crap they released.
last i checked, GTA4 was well received and so were the expansions, its just that some didn't think it deserved the perfect scores it got and for good reason. Doesn't make the game horrible though. If you thought it stunk, i hope this does too
it did stink because its boring as bat sh*t!
i dont know about you, but i dont play games to be the fu**ing taxi driver!
the first couple missions revolved around a taxi, not sure which game you played. i did a lot of killing, but if it was all about taxi driving to you then so be it.
Most of those complaints the game had was simply due to the fact that it wasn't like San Andreas. Boo fvckin hoo, deal with it
